I don’t think there will be much political will to challenge this. This ruling means that obfuscation doesn’t work anymore. The only way to legislate against this would be to expressly state that legal sex overrides biological sex. I suspect that is too overt to be politically tolerable especially given that Labour is not polling well. It would be a political minefield for no electoral benefit.

The Trade Unions are now in a very exposed position too after their biased resolution that may breach the EA.

Totally.

It's one thing to shift around in the wings letting women down by default. It's quite another to run out shouting it and waving a flag

Cue lots of Ministers and backbenchers saying this is what they thought all along…

We should do some special prizes for the most outrageous ones. We are good at keeping the receipts here...

A TRA reporting goes to see what all the noise is about and is drowned out by a crowd of joyful singing women. Did I spot Jean from Aberdeen in that group? It looks like her!

Someone remind me of the batshit thing Maggie Chapman said or did previously? It was something bonkers but I can’t recall it.

There's soo many but the 1s that most people remember are 8 year olds should be able to change sex and vote🤪 and that baby's are born without a sex

L0UISA · 16/04/2025 12:08

Thank you FWS ❤️

I can't wait to see whatever reverse ferret James O'Brien comes up with. He's one who can't cope with being in the wrong/on the wrong side of history. He's been one of the worst perpetrators of this thought crime that men can be women in fact and in law.

Sky News says that Monroe Bergdorff is speaking to legal experts about how this will affect their community.

I wonder who those experts will be....

Lark1ane · 16/04/2025 12:15

I wonder if Billy Bragg will bring out a new song to support this victory for Women?

Three leading KCs would be my guess

Hats off to FWS for fighting this battle for every woman in the country/world.
and very pleased that the judgement was unanimous, unambiguous and went way beyond the original ask to clarify that it covers every single aspect of ‘single sex’ provisions

great day to be a woman!!

I suspect we'll see a few individuals as wannabe trans-Rosa Parks, Just Stop Boilogy, pushing it for disruption and performative arrests. There are some genuinely vulnerable transpeople and children caught up in this rubbish too. They could be manipulated in to doing worrying stuff. I lack any faith that the wiser heads in their so-called community will dissuade them from potentially harmful behaviour.

A wee trip down memory lane, on the ‘complexity’ behind the ‘what is a woman’ question - often claimed to be a ‘dog whistle’ by those deliberate muddying clear waters.

https://www.personneltoday.com/hr/what-is-a-woman-robin-moira-white-transgender-rights/

“When, for example, citizens use changing or toilet facilities in a shop, we do not provide our birth certificate or take a chromosome test. Rather we are judged on the outward expression of our sex category, our gender. That is why the statutory guidance says that service providers should normally accommodate customers according to their gender and why the non-statutory guidance, referring to biological sex, put out for apparently political purposes by the Equality and Human Rights Commission last month is both wrong in law and unworkable in practical application.”

Turns out the law was deemed unworkable, but not in the way RMW claimed it to be.

Robin Moira White: What is a woman?

We invited two commentators to tackle a defining question of our time – what is a woman? Barrister Robin Moira White provides her answer

Hoardasurass · 16/04/2025 12:26

Oh God the beeb have some bloke from amnesty trying to defend them interviewing in the case.
It's all about the trans nothing about women, oh and we must enforce all anti trans discrimination and really push for it but nothing for women 🤬

TWETMIRF · 16/04/2025 12:29

To paraphrase King of Bling... "Old Joly isn't jolly, he is glum and he is sad"

Taytoface · 16/04/2025 12:29

Just wondering what is going on in the LGBTQ staff networks atm. I think not a lot of work getting done today in a few places.

BettyBooper · 16/04/2025 12:29

The Guardian reporting seems quite... well, balanced. Have they read the room? Is a reverse ferret happening? 🤔

NotBadConsidering · 16/04/2025 12:29

I would happily contribute to a crowd funder for any trans activist taking a case to court who wants to employ the services of both Jolyon Maugham and RMW.

Datun · 16/04/2025 12:30

I'm wondering about the question of how ya gonna tell when we have F on our birth certificate.

im guessing, they just get refused on the basis of a visual decision, and if they insist, security is called?

And then if they want to sue, they can. And if they're a man they'll lose, but if they're a woman?

sorry, edited to add, that if proof is necessary, would a cheek swab be taken?

GCITC · 16/04/2025 12:31

I'm still in absolute shock.

My brain is struggling to comprehend just how big this is and just how quickly we have turned this round.

It was only 5 years ago that we were told our beliefs were not worthy of respect in a democratic society. Now everyone knows that our beliefs simply reflect the law.

murasaki · 16/04/2025 12:31

To be fair to the Mail, and I rarely am, they've been strong on this from the get go. Probably their motivations are different to mine but they've peaked a lot of people.
