Cue lots of Ministers and backbenchers saying this is what they thought all along…

I'm watching / listening to the BBC coverage and am disappointed that they have Maggie from Scottish Greens on, obviously all full of concern for trans rights.

Hope I can avoid hearing her and her never ending nonsense speak.

LegallyDefinedWoman · 16/04/2025 11:26

I'm had meetings all morning, came out of my last one and saw the headlines. I'm another one feeling teary. Thank you FWS and every woman on this forum who has worked so hard to achieve this. I lurk mostly because I don't have much to say that helps but I'm so grateful to you all.

Someone remind me of the batshit thing Maggie Chapman said or did previously? It was something bonkers but I can’t recall it.

I keep seeing singing women whilst I'm scrolling Twitter, and every time I burst out crying!

The acoustics in that room are really good 😃

Did you see the lovely woman in pink helping that bloke with his wires? Getting them uncrossed? An appropriate metaphor I thought.

Wonder what they'll do about those ponds in that London?

Lark1ane · 16/04/2025 11:28

Heather Herbert "trans campaigner" on BBC news claiming it's an attack on trans people.
But then admitting to woman reporter it won't affect how trans people go about their day to day lives.
Then claiming that Heather can't go to work as Heather can't use the women's toilets.

But the equality act does have protections for trans people, 5 judges said so.

Just not the one they want. Oh dear.

TW don’t want their own rights, they want to take women’s rights. Women are allowed their own rights in shock announcement!

I'm just watching. Holy shit, I thought HH was going to come out with the Upton 'I am biological, and a woman, so I am a biological woman'.

God help that BBC reporter. You can hear her biting her tongue so hard.

For those who don't want to have to read the judgment online, I've finally tracked down the PDF version:

supremecourt.uk/uploads/uksc_2024_0042_judgment_aea6c48cee.pdf

Thank you.

A quick search shows it doesn’t mention toilets. It mentions changing rooms.
Does this mean toilets that say the word women or woman are single sex?

Villagetoraiseachild · 16/04/2025 11:33

Aw, Mr Menno doing his little Happy Dance!

PronounssheRa · 16/04/2025 11:34

And it begins
Reacting to the Supreme Court ruling, a UK government spokesperson says: "We have always supported the protection of single-sex spaces based on biological sex."This ruling brings clarity and confidence, for women and service providers such as hospitals, refuges, and sports clubs."Single-sex spaces are protected in law and will always be protected by this government."

Same here. I’ve only just found out. Absolutely fantastic news.

Incidentally, my phone changed “Same here” to “Dave here” whilst typing, which is ironic!

Lark1ane · 16/04/2025 11:35

@Iamnotalemming she really was biting her tongue wasn't she? HH was a goady fucker there. The same H. Herbert who posted footage of themselves in a disabled toilet using a dilator following surgery. What a charmer!

We have always been at war with Eurasia…😁

tbh I bet the government are mighty relieved to have this judgement to hide behind now

She doesn't know if she's woman because she hasn't had her chromosomes tested

Iamnotalemming · 16/04/2025 11:39

@Lark1ane yep. Purple faced. She deserves a drink!

Also I didn't know that about HH. Ugh.

"We have always been at war with Eastasia".

We have read Orwell, you know, Starmer's mouthpiece.

Edit x posted with @Theeyeballsinthesky !

Anyway, flowers and fizz for FWS.

murasaki · 16/04/2025 11:39

Unsurprising from the Government. I bet Rosie Duffield has bitten through her tongue on hearing that.

Ha at more front than Blackpool.

They are idiots and hypocrites but it looks like they’ll try to hide behind it rather than take it on.

People who won’t vote for them can see their duplicity still.

So bloody angry that they put women through this. Lying, lying cowards.

Catiette · 16/04/2025 11:43

Behind on this thread already, while alternating between the BBC (for once, quite enjoying watching their attempts to fudge something so very explicit, tbh), Sky (seems balanced) and explaining to people. So very, very, very relieved. At last! We really deserved this - our rights, our WORDS, our arguments, out there and ours again. Am finding commentary from the opposing side interesting, too - seems to be a combination of the emotive and the equivocal as per (eg. interviewee just now appearing to suggest trans people lack legal protection before being drawn to acknowledge the PC of GR). Too much to take in, tbh!

Catiette · 16/04/2025 11:44

Thank you thank you thank you to FWS, the brave, brave women who have stood their ground in public... and all of us.

lcakethereforeIam · 16/04/2025 11:45

Things keep coming to me that I hope this judgement means I won't see anymore, like the obligatory bloke or two in BBC's lists of notable women. I spent the morning mentally composing a sarcastic email to my MP, honestly fearing that FWS would lose. I'm glad I won't have to send it now.

Talking of BBC lists of notable women. FWS should be at the top of the next one, but i won't hold my breath.
