Again with the whole “anti-trans” narrative. They can’t even process the idea of women needing things for themselves. It’s not about you!

There are two parallel threads of joy going on, and I've most been over on the other one, but I'm glad I popped in here because I think MassiveWordSalad's words need to be emblazoned in flashing neon over every commentary that makes this about loss of trans rights:
It’s not about you!

vandelier · 16/04/2025 11:13

What a victory for common sense, science and equality.

I'm very happy.

If there's a swing back to the right at the next election then the Tories will be all over this - and rightly so. Starmer's no fool, he knows what this means.

I thought not so long ago he didn't know how to identify a woman?

KnottyAuty · 16/04/2025 11:14

Boiledbeetle · 16/04/2025 10:57

Sigh!

Who are the members? This should be public knowledge.
If my MP is a member I would like to know about it - they should have to declare their interest

murasaki · 16/04/2025 10:51

Does this mean that Sarah's case re Brighton rape crisis will be settled in her favour? She's waited so long.

Edited

I don’t know but I hope so. It certainly strengthens her case.

The good thing his she didn’t ask them to kick out the man rather allow her to set up another group for women only.

Winterwonders24 · 16/04/2025 11:14

Just asked to get over the shock and think of impact in own life: two young daughters,so guides could become an option again, school trips over night no questions. It's huge

I think this entirely supports the interpretation of H&S legislation as being biological sex as would have been the original intention.

Brilliant!!! Workplaces now have something legal they can use to support them in the current conflict with DEI

It’s really not. It’s about women

And now we know what that means. Huzzah

StillTryingToKeepGoing · 16/04/2025 11:16

Huge thank you to FWS and those women who wouldn’t wheesht. 👏👏👏

lcakethereforeIam · 16/04/2025 11:17

I've just found out. I literally couldn't bear to watch. Was expecting the worse. Thank you FWS, MN and all the posters on here ❤️.

NotAtMyAge · 16/04/2025 11:17

For those who don't want to have to read the judgment online, I've finally tracked down the PDF version:

I thought not so long ago he didn't know how to identify a woman?

I meant he knows what this means from a legal pov.

I thought not so long ago he didn't know how to identify a woman?

Didn't he say something like "99% of women don't have a penis". Poor, confused poppet.

DogBiscuitsInPocket · 16/04/2025 11:19

Thank you to FWS.
So much admiration and gratitude to all the women involved.
Overwhelming relief.
Onward and upward.

I keep thinking of more things this applies to: board representation, prisons, NHS annex B, sex pay gap, la leche league, lesbian dating apps, council gyms, private gyms, work changing rooms, refuges, surveys and censuses, school lavatories ... you all know the list. So many things where we've had to argue all round the houses and been met with 'but TWAW', and now we have 'the Supreme Court says'.

Where do we start?

NoFineBalance · 16/04/2025 11:20

We now need Stonewall Law out of all our institutions. Starting with the Civil Service, NHS and the BBC.

NessieDoesExistYes · 16/04/2025 11:13

I thought not so long ago he didn't know how to identify a woman?

He can only do it 99% of the time.

KnottyAuty · 16/04/2025 11:21

Hoydenish · 16/04/2025 11:02

What happens now with NHS Annexe B, the work that Knotty and the wims did on winkling out NHS policies?

And yy, NHS Fife did FAFO and now deeply regret, I hope, causing the delay by withholding info.

I'm hoping it will make our audits more interesting/useful.
We need to keep the lights shining on the Trusts to make sure the policies change.

Shortshriftandlethal · 16/04/2025 11:22

CheekySnake · 16/04/2025 10:25

Yep. How do you prove that a man with a female birth certificate is a man? That's the next challenge.

We're told these men can be excluded from single sex spaces but how the eff do we prove that they are men. Birth certificates show a sex marker linked to a genital inspection carried out at birth. The marker is linked to biology.

Except that the GRC has severed that link and means birth certs are no longer proof of bio sex.

So how do we prove bio sex.

It's going to be a long path...rewinding on the confusion and obfuscation.

I'm uncertain whether this ruling means that employers and organisations will now have to make clear that single sex facilities relate to biological sex, or whether they will still be able to attempt to enforce their own preferences?

There will inevitably be some organisations which try to subvert the ruling; but they will be liable for their decisions in a court of law. i imagine yet more court cases and tribunals will have to be bought...but now with a firm ruling that 'Sex' refers to biological sex. Some trans identified men will still try to access single sex facilities - but it will be easier to challenge them.

The government is going to have to issue clear guidelines.....but i cannot see that happening. I see Harriet Harman is now trying to spin it as a win for the trans lobby...by saying that single sex exemptions will only be applicable in extreme and very specific circumstances.

I keep seeing singing women whilst I'm scrolling Twitter, and every time I burst out crying!

Agree. Stonewall pretendy grifty law can do one.

Hoardasurass · 16/04/2025 11:22

Is anyone watching Hannah Herbert on BBC news its a car crash 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sorry it's Heather not Hannah

Iamnotalemming · 16/04/2025 11:22

I'm watching / listening to the BBC coverage and am disappointed that they have Maggie from Scottish Greens on, obviously all full of concern for trans rights.
