I took myself to the ‘ladies pond’ on Hampstead Heath today. Signs everywhere saying ladies only. Women only etc. I was nervous as it was my first time and I was on my own. It was my treat to myself after a stressful morning. I got loudly told off for taking a carefully placed selfie (discreetly, with nobody else in view). Meanwhile the big boomy man parading around in a woman’s swim suit, talking loudly and generally acting like he owned the place was completely free and unchallenged. I didn’t want to ruin my brief moment of time to myself so forced myself not to dwell on it. But FFS. Fuck. Off.

It's always loud, dominant and inappropriate behaviour isn't it? They make damn sure you know they're there and they are men, and that the power is theirs.

The committee running this were quite unpleasant to women who wanted a single sex pond. They have badly lost their way.

The Ladies Pond Asssociation is run by a cabal of po-faced, linen-clad Aunt Lydias who recruited a bunch of their troony husbands' and daughters' most blue-haired and gender fluid friends to drive out any gender critical / pro-women committee members and ensure that wymyn with penises were centred at all times.

They were VERY DISAPPOINTED that ladies could behave in such an Unkind and Uninclusive way to EXCLUDE women of all types.

And when women self defined themselves as men and went to the men's pond for Man Friday, that apparently was neither funny nor nice.

It was very funny and made a clear point.

If it was done in poor taste, mocking the idea of being trans as something whimsical, then it is not funny nor nice indeed. Nothing like punching down on a minority to feel mighty.

It merely showed the ridiculousness of self identification and how it's ok for one group and not another. Pointed out the hypocrisy.

If anyone is who they say they are, so is everyone.

Also, I'm so over LARPing men. I have no sympathy for their fetishes.

But I remember reading about this, well, I'm not quite sure how long, but at least a couple of years ago, surely? I assumed that it had been sorted out. But still it goes on, WTF?

That’s not true is it? Men have a single sex swimming pond, Women have one, and then there is one for mixed swimming.

Is the women only pond for biological women, or legal women? If legal, while we might not like it, trans women can use it as they have legal protection to be treated as women. Same as the trans men.

Men pretending to be women are allowed in the women's pond. Women pretending to be men are barred from the men's pond. So men are allowed to go wherever they want and women have no right to a single sex pond (but men do).

It's for women and men who claim to be women. 'Legal' doesn't come into it.

And it's not the same as for trans men. Women claiming to be men are barred from the men's pond.

I'll accept that men pretending to be women are a minority (thankfully), but in what way do you think they're oppressed and by whom?

All you ever hear about is entitled males like the one mentioned in the OP who get away with doing what they want which includes oppressing any women who get in their way or challenge them.

Hampstead ponds allow men to self ID as women. A pond that is open to men is by definition not single sex.
