Man who brutally attacked his partner is being released and she is told to stop campaigning to keep him inside

I remember this 2011 case when it happened, and was shocked by the brutality. He blinded her in a vicious attack.

She wasn't told that his release had been approved until the deadline had passed for her to object.

She claims probation officers guilt tripped her over her campaign to keep him inside.

Tina has also set up a petition against his release which has already been signed by more than 11,000 people.
But instead of applauding her efforts to raise awareness, Tina claims probation chiefs 'told her off' for speaking out about her case with one asking her 'don't you feel sorry for him, putting this on his head?'
She said: 'When they said that to me I felt confused - I have every right to speak out and I don't want this to be brushed under the carpet. I don't want this to happen to anybody else.'
The Probation Service is currently investigating Tina's complaint about the comment and the staff member involved is understood to deny using those words. Tina has since decided to sever contact with the Probation Service.

My MP is new, so I'm going to be optimistic and write to her.

This is such an unbelievable story it's hard to believe it's true (I know it is). To think that the parole board hand waved away the threat he is to her and he'll be out with no limits on where he can go is awful.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/03/2025 10:07

parole board hand waved away the threat he is to her

And also to other women he gets into a relationship with or he perceives to have slighted him, especially, and men. Anyone unlucky enough to have dealings with him. He's a violent thug who has also been violent inside. It really is unbelievable as you say.

My MP is new, so I'm going to be optimistic and write to her.

I hope you get some joy with her, at least with a woman, you'd expect her to understand.

The GFM is moving very slowly, which I find so sad. Seems that DM readers aren't digging deeply in their pockets. I would have thought that it might take off after high profile publicity like that.

I follow so many feminist on X and yet only one person is posting about this case. Heartbreaking.

Bumping

It's awful but it doesn't surprise me. We have a real problem in this country with keeping predators in prison. He should have been given a tougher sentence.

Morning bump.

WarriorN · 12/03/2025 10:05

Surely if Mahmood is trying to stop this man being released, Tina's abuser should also? Given he's said he will seek her out ffs

Somehow I've only just heard about this case. I know we all see a lot of Go Fund Me requests but if anyone deserves support it's this lady. Bumping to hopefully encourage people to donate.

Anyone understand how/why Judge Christopher Harvey Clark QC set the minimum term at six years? Seems incomprehensible to me, and allowed the multiple parole bids at this early stage.

ETA - the link to the Go Fund Me for security improvements to Ms Nash's home works on this archive article. I clicked on it and it opened in a new tab.

Poor woman. Feel sorry for the man who blinded her? In what alternative universe is that a thing one might feel? If the Probabtion Service is coming out with this sort of misogynist crap they need investigating, not just the officer who apparently said it!

ArmyBarbie · 17/03/2025 23:23

Keep donating, sharing and bumping!

Signed petition and filled with fury. Best of luck to Tina and to everyone supporting her. This vile sadist should not be released because he is a danger to other people.

Projectme · 20/03/2025 12:52

Petition signed. There are no words to describe this depraved human being. He caused brain damage to a man, stabbed a dog to death among other crimes plus this assault on Tina. Sickening that this individual should EVER be released. He will get to Tina and kill her or will put another woman in the same situation before he's put in prison for ever. 😡

Thank you for this link. I watched it this morning and found it deeply moving. Tina has been put through hell and back. How she ever lived again after her attack is remarkable. How in spite of her suffering she still fought for her children to have their own lives. I hope that anyone involved in the decision to release her attacker watches this interview.
