Man who brutally attacked his partner is being released and she is told to stop campaigning to keep him inside

I remember this 2011 case when it happened, and was shocked by the brutality. He blinded her in a vicious attack.

She wasn't told that his release had been approved until the deadline had passed for her to object.

She claims probation officers guilt tripped her over her campaign to keep him inside.

Tina has also set up a petition against his release which has already been signed by more than 11,000 people.
But instead of applauding her efforts to raise awareness, Tina claims probation chiefs 'told her off' for speaking out about her case with one asking her 'don't you feel sorry for him, putting this on his head?'
She said: 'When they said that to me I felt confused - I have every right to speak out and I don't want this to be brushed under the carpet. I don't want this to happen to anybody else.'
The Probation Service is currently investigating Tina's complaint about the comment and the staff member involved is understood to deny using those words. Tina has since decided to sever contact with the Probation Service.

Thank you for posting this OP!

(and what an extremely fucked up and unfair situation - poor woman)

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/03/2025 11:25

It's awful. I haven't put the details of the attack as explicitly as the article does as they are horrific.

Gosh that poor woman. I think it just shows how little anyone really cares about victims. Honestly don’t think he should be released but if he was he should have a oermsnent ban from going to the town she lives in.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 09/03/2025 11:29

Thank you for sharing this. I have found her petition (searched for her name and the word "petition") and signed it. The violence described is beyond belief (even in the context of all the cases of male VAWG that we hear about these days ☹️

NeedToKnow101 · 09/03/2025 11:32

It's absolutely horrific and another message that MVAWG is minimised and that women don't matter.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 09/03/2025 11:33

Absolutely horrific. Unbelievable that the MoJ / Parole Board are so totally uncaring about his victim. Shame on them.

I've been putting off reading the article because of how horrific even the bits I've seen have sounded but have now read it and it's even worse than I anticipated.

The person(s) who said 'don't you feel sorry for him, putting this on his head?' are beyond contemptible.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/03/2025 11:57

Yes, there is a petition and a crowdfunder for home security, linked in the article. She's terrified of him.

Somehow the article was worse than I imagined. I’m shocked this is happening. Poor woman

FranticFrankie · 09/03/2025 12:20

Petition signed
Tina looked so happy in old photos- before he inflicted his violence on her. Brave woman

What a vile man he is- a big history of abuse, including animals; definitely pointing towards psychopathy. How could anyone let him out???

EarthSight · 09/03/2025 12:33

I'm not able to view the article without agreeing to the DM thousand advertising cookies, so please could someone either post her name or a link to her petition?

There is a site called Archive, where you can copy&paste the URL to see if it has been saved - no flashy ads or videos 👍

Small "adjustment":
"...how little anyone cares about victims IF THEY ARE WOMEN ..."

Her name is Tina Nash, and she's on GFM.

I vividly remember reading about this case at work and practically crying with rage. My heart goes out to her. The probation service should be ashamed.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/03/2025 13:09

Petition is on change.org

Laura Richards, feminist criminology expert is supporting her, and quoted in the Mail interview:

Laura - who helped keep child killer Colin Pitchfork behind bars - said: 'Based on everything I have assessed he has an extreme lack of empathy and no fear of the consequences. I believe Jenkin is most likely a psychopath.
'He has no moral code whatsoever and there is a real risk here. He has just said the right things to tick a box and move closer to release but if my assessment is correct he will never be safe to be released.
'If he is a psychopath the risk assessment is flawed and if he is released he will harm somebody else, I have no doubt about that.
'The Parole Board must take the safety of future victims into consideration.
Tina has been failed spectacularly by the police, probation and everybody. She was told he would be in prison for life.
'Her case is precedential because she survived something most people wouldn't. Throughout the court case he always blamed her and she is now much more vulnerable because she is blind.'

Ms Richards, who analysed Tina's case in her podcastast*_, has urged Brits to write to Labour Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood demanding she reverse Jenkin's downgrading until he's tested for psychopathy.^

It's really not one you forget.

So there is something else we can do, write to Shabhana Mahmood as Laura Richards suggested.

It isn't.

How the fuck did they decide this...thing is no longer a danger to women?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/03/2025 13:27

I know, it's ridiculous. He's a danger to Tina, and to any other woman he gets involved with.

What has possessed the authorities to believe this man no longer poses a risk to Tina and to the general public? It's really worrying that he is now in an open prison and preparing for release.

This is not justice for Tina who at his hands was brutally attacked and permanently blinded. The fact that she is having to make arrangements to increase her own security is shameful.

Ofcourse he did. They always do.
