Lesbian mistaken for trans woman in woman's bathroom in Arizona

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/masculine-looking-cis-woman-confronted-by-cops-in-walmart-restroom-kalaya-morton-demands-justice-video/ar-AA1AdWpn

But I thought people "can always tell"?

It also led to the irony the only males in the bathroom were two male police officers who were notified by a store employee who mistakenly thought a male had entered the woman's toilets.

"In an alarming incident at a Tucson, Arizona Walmart, 19-year-old Kalaya Morton*, a Black cisgender lesbian, was confronted by two male sheriff’s deputies while using the women’s restroom, sparking outrage and a demand for accountability.
Morton, who identifies as masculine-presenting or a “stud,” recounted the humiliating encounter that occurred when a store employee erroneously assumed she was a transgender woman. The saga began innocuously enough: Morton had entered the restroom with her ex-girlfriend, who was kindly handing her a tampon— an act of friendship that, unfortunately, soon spiraled into something far more troubling. In an exclusive interview with The Advocate, Morton detailed her shock when the two deputies barged in, shining flashlights into the restroom stall.

“You have to get out of here. You have to come out. We need to talk to you.” Imagine trying to pee in peace, only to have the police storm in like it’s an episode of Cops: Restroom Edition.
“I’m still using the restroom. I’m sitting down, I’m peeing. What is the issue?,” Morton incredulously told the deputies as she sat there.
Now, while most people hope for a streamlined bathroom experience, Morton was treated more like a suspect than a bathroom user. The deputies apparently needed to crack the case of “Who Looks Like a Man in the Ladies’ Room,” a particularly absurd mystery, if you ask us."

So what’s your point?

That it's always trotted out on here against people who aren't agreeing with the majority - it goes from must be a man, then when that gets boring/debunked it always moves onto "hmm name changer of different guises" 🤔 as if they're trying to make that something dodgy too when as you say it's always been allowed and fine on here.

MakeYourOwnMusicStartYourOwnDance · 06/03/2025 12:02

I also have noticed that I need to refer to certain male genitals more and more

Yep, that's why you're seeing more and more of that type of comment on Twitter then, it's got nothing to do with trans people, and more the fact that you're increasingly tweeting about male genitals!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/03/2025 12:02

There's nothing dodgy in name changing. Lots of people do it.

Do a dive into sexual assaults and rapes in toilets in the UK over the last 10 years. Or 15 years.

Firstly, there has been no increase in numbers - which you would have expected if trans women were the problem.

Secondly. Men walk into women's toilets and sexually assault and rape. Banning trans women from women's toilets won't actually stop this.
Men pretending to cleaners or plumbers. Men hanging around nearby till a woman is in there alone.

There is A LOT we need to do to make women safer. But none of it will happen when the only focus is on trans women.

@justteanbiscuits please can you publish or send me the link to your data. How did you get it? I have spoken to the police, the government, HSE, BSA, ABT and no one has that data. The best I can get is ploughing through FOIs from individual police forces and then they have to go away and collate it because it’s not set up by location. Schools data is the same. British Transport Police is more straightforward.

I would really appreciate it.

To be fair if you reread my request I didn't ask anyone to share their account. I said feel free to link the feminist threads you're on that are being bombarded by trans porn, because surely they won't at all be full of accounts regularly engaging in discussion of trans peoples bodies in sexualised language and they won't be accounts 100% dedicated to the discussion of trans people either. There'll be nothing to suggest to the algorithm they are interested in trans people's bodies right? So link them.

Sexualised is a cute term.

The language shell game with shame and blame attached.

Sexed bodies come with sexed body parts.

Using correct terms is not using sexualised language.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/03/2025 12:05

Yes @justteanbiscuits I'd also like to see the data backing these claims.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 06/03/2025 11:48

I’d be surprised if anyone bookmarked these, why would you?

Abusive TRA’s post on women defending single sex spaces. It’s not the ‘logical algorithm argument’ you think it is or the justification you are seeking for abusive TRA’s.

Two words I could do without seeing for a good while - algorithm and genitalia 🙄🙄

People bookmark stuff all the time if it's say an article or tweet they want to read in full but don't have the time right then to, so bookmark it to read later.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 06/03/2025 12:06

Late to the thread.

@Christinapple Can you propose a solution to this problem which doesn't involve women simply accepting that they don't have the right to any single sex spaces or to raise the alarm if they think there may be a male person in a female only space?

Given that this problem has been entirely caused by those who use spaces for the opposite sex and their allies, I think they are the ones who need to come up with a solution.

Not the shit that you are clearly hankering to see.

Also hospital data would be really useful too. There are lots of assaults in hospitals but they don’t subcategorise into location which I believe will be private spaces such as toilet cubicles. I know there’s been lots of work done on hospitals but no one has got the data on location. So it would be extremely important to my work if you have this dataset.

We know how bookmarks work. It's unlikely that women here are using them to bookmark creepy men's profiles "to read later".

Who, me?!
😂
I mean, I'm literally trying to explain on the thread to people who say things like they're increasingly having to tweet male genital words and then wondering why they're getting such disgusting content pushed at them as to why that might be happening, and people are saying what type of content they usually engage with.
Then it's me who apparently wants to see shit, I can assure you I do not - which is why I never tweet words a lot of you seem to.
Lost cause.
Go at it then, crack on tweeting "dick" "cock" and "balls" repeatedly then scratching your head when you get spammed with porn shite 😂

Nobody's said anything about creepy men!
I was referring to articles, more along the lines of gender critical articles which might use lots of references to male genitals for example.
Twitter won't know you're just bookmarking it to read for the "gender critical" articles, it'll look at words, content etc and push you more and more of the same, or articles/tweets using the same words in the article.

Me too! It will be great to see this data.

Particularly considering we know that only a portion of rapes and sexual assaults and sexual abuse is ever reported and that the rate of reporting has dropped in the past decade, I wonder how anyone can make such bold claims.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/03/2025 12:22

The whole sub-conversation is about creepy men's twitter profiles, that's what posters are demanding evidence of 🙄

If you haven't read it properly it's not surprising you're confused.

I haven’t read beyond the post from page 6 quoted, but something else in the original report struck me as just as bizarre as the comment about the lesbian girlfriend and the tampon, which was this:

«When she finally exited the stall, she said she lifted her shirt to prove she was not a man,»

I mean really? That sounds exactly like something a man with newly grown nubs might do. It’s certainly not behaviour I’ve ever witnessed in a sober woman in a difficult situation where her dignity is already threatened.

Now I have to wonder whether perhaps the cartoon in the quoted post might have been inspiration for yet another transactivist, making up unlikely stories about being challenged in women’s spaces, as an argument for why we should give men access.

I have never, ever seen a relistically described transactivist encounter of this type. A number of GC lesbians have described encounters where they have been mistaken for being male, and I encountered it myself as a teenager, so I know it happens. It’s simply a bizarre coincidence that every time it happens to a transactivist, it’s always off the scale in frequency or so dramatic in the retelling as to be incredibly unlikely.

I have to say that in all the times I have been "sirred" or otherwise had my sex questioned, I have never even considered flashing my tits to prove my sex. I did once say "shit, have I changed sex?", patted my crotch over my clothing as if checking in a panic, and finished with "nope, still female". But exposing myself? Nah. To men? OH HELL NO. This story doesn't add up.

Do the Americans have an equivalent to FOI? Could Arizona state police be FOIed to confirm that this actually happened?

Keeptoiletssafe · 06/03/2025 12:26

@justteanbiscuits do you work for the police or government to get the data? I was told it didn’t exist. It would save me so much time. I like to be evidence-based. Like you said you had, 15 years of data on toilets would be great. I can present it to safeguarding bodies and organisations.

If women talk about their experiences of sexual assault and abuse they are responsible for having porn sent to them. Nice.

lifeturnsonadime · 06/03/2025 12:30

Yes I hadn't picked up the pulling the top up as proof.

It proves nothing at all.

Very odd and not the behaviour of someone who feels intimidated by the presence of the police either, imo.

I wasn't questioning the veracity of this claim before I read this but I am definitely questioning it in the light of seeing that.

Beowulfa · 06/03/2025 12:30

I don't do Twitter. So when I point out on this site that transwomen are blokes with cocks and balls, the algorithmic porn fairy presumably dies.

Look up the picture of Eddie Izzard, rearranging his cock and balls, whilst wearing a pink coat and heels in the queues for the ladies for a handy visual guide as to why transwomen, with their cocks and balls, can fuck right off.

justteanbiscuits · 06/03/2025 12:36

lifeturnsonadime · 06/03/2025 11:25

No I’m saying transwomen are men.

justean, when you talk about things being acceptable , do you think it is acceptable that women should have to share single sex spaces with a subset of men with the mounting evidence that some of those men harm us?

How many women and children must be harmed by these men for you to consider it to be unacceptable?

Read my message. At NO POINT did I say it was acceptable.

What I have done, is respond to the subject matter of the original post. Which is about a woman being shouted at "for being a man". I don't think women being abused by other women is acceptable. This does not mean I think women being attacked by men is acceptable. It isn't either / or. BOTH can be wrong.

justteanbiscuits · 06/03/2025 12:41

AnSolas · 06/03/2025 11:54

The word is men.

When men are allowed free entry into the space the risk goes up.

And how did you or the data collectors split the sex offenders into the sub-group?

By reading articles where you know they would say the man was dressed as a woman. Not "posing as a cleaner", or "posing as a plumber".

I mainly also trawled through FOI requests, then working by rough dates found the reports / articles associated with them.

There is data out there of the number of attacks that have happened in toilets. This Met Police FOI is one example

Data on sexual offences in public toilets and taxi/private hire drivers caught drunk/drug driving from 2013 to 2023 | Metropolitan Police

No, I haven't said people who have been sexually assaulted and talk about it online are responsible for having porn sent to them. At all.
Just saying why, if someone repeatedly uses words for male genitals, they're going to see more of that.
Not saying that's right, it's not, it shouldn't be happening but it sadly is.
I haven't said they deserve to see more of it, or responsible for it at all, so don't twist.
