Lesbian mistaken for trans woman in woman's bathroom in Arizona

But I thought people "can always tell"?

It also led to the irony the only males in the bathroom were two male police officers who were notified by a store employee who mistakenly thought a male had entered the woman's toilets.

"In an alarming incident at a Tucson, Arizona Walmart, 19-year-old Kalaya Morton*, a Black cisgender lesbian, was confronted by two male sheriff’s deputies while using the women’s restroom, sparking outrage and a demand for accountability.
Morton, who identifies as masculine-presenting or a “stud,” recounted the humiliating encounter that occurred when a store employee erroneously assumed she was a transgender woman. The saga began innocuously enough: Morton had entered the restroom with her ex-girlfriend, who was kindly handing her a tampon— an act of friendship that, unfortunately, soon spiraled into something far more troubling. In an exclusive interview with The Advocate, Morton detailed her shock when the two deputies barged in, shining flashlights into the restroom stall.

“You have to get out of here. You have to come out. We need to talk to you.” Imagine trying to pee in peace, only to have the police storm in like it’s an episode of Cops: Restroom Edition.
“I’m still using the restroom. I’m sitting down, I’m peeing. What is the issue?,” Morton incredulously told the deputies as she sat there.
Now, while most people hope for a streamlined bathroom experience, Morton was treated more like a suspect than a bathroom user. The deputies apparently needed to crack the case of “Who Looks Like a Man in the Ladies’ Room,” a particularly absurd mystery, if you ask us."

Wait, Helplosemymind, are you really saying that if women engage with transactivists on twitter and got sent dick pics, then it is their fault for getting sent dick pics

Not helplose clearly, but no-one is saying "it's your fault for getting sent them"!
Just explaining how algorithms and what you engage with/words you regularly use affects all your content on the internet.
It's actually quite concerning how many people on here genuinely don't seem to understand how they work!

No it isn't, because NO ONE has even mentioned the attacks by men simply walking into the toilets. The only people talked about on here, on twitter, or anywhere are trans women.

We are talking about men - any men - who claim entry into women’s spaces.

The men who are most volubly doing so are men who claim their trans identity makes their desire to enter women’s spaces valid.

I am not familiar with another cohort of men saying they “have the right” to use facilities for women. If you do, please share, as I’m all for keeping all men out of women’s spaces. As are the many women on FWR.

It’s unfortunate that the woman in the Arizona store was yelled at by police in the public toilet. I think the police handled that very poorly (not that I am surprised). That doesn’t mean excluding men from women’s toilets is wrong or unkind or bigoted.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/03/2025 11:10

Why are you banging on about attacks? My partner and the males in my life wouldn’t attack anyone in bathrooms (as sure as I can be on that), I don’t think they should be in women’s spaces either, as their presence may make some women feel uncomfortable.

Exactly. NO MEN means no one's Nigel, and no one's "lovely friend" however they identify.

Reading over these latest contributions, I think someone has already lost their mind and doesn't need any help.

Going back years through a woman's posts to try and find a reference to the word dick, and then reposting them with the word dick highlighted, is very odd behaviour. imo.

It reminds me of a silly kid who likes to say rude words like tit and bum for shitz and giggles.

Boiled's Tunnock word count over the years would be something to post about.
But I imagine too much like hard work, once fingers and toes to add up on, are all used up.

Takes two seconds to search someone's post history who is claiming they are regularly "exposed" to porn unwillingly, to help them understand how an algorithm works. Try constantly tweeting about cats and see what happens.

It's been repeatedly explained to you that this is not just about algorithms, it's often specific targeting by male trans activists.

It's actually quite concerning how posters selectively don't read posts properly and project their bias onto people based on their flawed interpretation.

There’s someone embarrassing their self on this thread and it’s not @AnSolas

We've already had the old "you're embarrassing yourself" response and it doesn't really hold up. I don't personally feel embarrassed for knowing and understanding how an algorithm works and how social media operates (not sure why I would?). I'd be more embarrassed if I posted about how much porn I'm seeing (and watching enough to describe) without understanding no one else who isn't tweeting about cocks and balls is seeing that. I'd love to see the bookmarks of some of these posters 😂

Or are they porn accounts presenting in the way you like to engage with them? It's almost like you don't understand how porn works now - you know an account of porn videos featuring plumbers for example aren't actual plumbers? 😂.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/03/2025 11:17

@Lark1ane indeed.

Hoppinggreen · 06/03/2025 11:18

There is a theme here.
Men attack women when they are dressed as men = allow all men into women only spaces
Masculine looking women (whatever that means) are sometimes thought to be men = allow all men into women only spaces
NAMALT = allow all men into women only spaces
Women need to be kind = allow all men into women only spaces
Some men are a danger to women = allow all men into women only spaces
TW don't feel safe in the mens toilets = allow all men into women only spaces
Some Trans people "pass" = allow all men into womens only spaces.

That can just fuck right off frankly

The majority of trans women retain their cock and balls, seeing as you like being ‘factual’. So what?

Has anyone said they don’t know how algorithms work, or have you twisted that to repeatedly bang on about trans people and their genitals, that you seem so obsessed with, ‘babe’?

MakeYourOwnMusicStartYourOwnDance · 06/03/2025 11:24

If you read the thread, it's absolutely spanking clear that at least one poster doesn't, even though they won't come out and admit that fact

I've no idea how we could've got to this situation 🙄

justteanbiscuits · 06/03/2025 11:01

Are you accusing me of being a man??

No I’m saying transwomen are men.

justean, when you talk about things being acceptable , do you think it is acceptable that women should have to share single sex spaces with a subset of men with the mounting evidence that some of those men harm us?

How many women and children must be harmed by these men for you to consider it to be unacceptable?

Keeptoiletssafe · 06/03/2025 11:26

I watched an interesting talk about female journalists keeping themselves safe. There are so many points relevant to this thread.

One woman was talking about how she has many platforms for her stories. One word she knows will make her work go viral, immediately get lots of hits, and lots of comments from a completely different demographic: gender.

Very quickly, too quickly to even read the long pieces she has written, she will start to get men writing derogatory stuff. She said it was the algorithms on specific words that did this.

Her advice was to get help from her women followers to back her up and leave more positive comments.

But it really shouldn’t be this way.

I've read the thread and it's clear there's a poster obsessed with trans people's genitalia. Which isn't that surprising.

Me too!

eatfigs · 06/03/2025 11:29

I've had similar experiences on Twitter:

  1. Tap on a beautifully eloquent and substantive tweet from e.g. Helen Joyce to read the replies
  2. See a response from some angry male-pretending-to-be-a-woman trying and failing to address her point
  3. Tap on his name to scroll through his profile and see what other nonsense he's been raving on about
  4. Be confronted with tweet after tweet of pornographic content

This has happened so many times when viewing the profiles of these men. There's a clear correlation.

If your first thought to a post like that is ‘show me then!’ then you really need to have a word with yourself.

Weird request. Do you have some unreasonable expectation that I'd bookmarked these profiles?

Hi Chris!

Better that a lesbian be slightly inconvenienced once than all women lose their female only single sex spaces to colonising men-with-gender.

HTH.

"Slightly inconvenienced"? "Slightly inconvenienced" is, say, having to wait for a cubicle to come free. If you had been interrupted mid wee or mid tampon change by police officers flashing lights and demanding that you come out and prove your sex in front of other women, would you seriously laugh that off as a slight inconvenience?
