So my bf days are behind me but once upon a time I started the Leader training,
Helped run branch meetings and marketing etc.
I have been committed to the Mission so continued paying my annual subs because of that. Thinking one day I'll go back to volunteer.

However. I'm clearly out of touch. The branch nearest me is closing down. All of the Leaders have resigned. And they are cagey about why.

I did a quick google and search on here.

What's going on? And where does it all stand now?

Wondering whether to cancel my membership.

Because they have to include breast feeding men aka transwomen, by order of the USA

dementedpixie · 23/02/2025 20:13

They believe men can breastfeed babies and likely call it chestfeeding anyway!

Bannedontherun · 23/02/2025 20:15

If you look up heretics on you tube there is video about this with Helen joyce

I posted this interview a while ago. I think you'll find it very illuminating...

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 23/02/2025 21:34

It's trans ideology destroying everything it touches.

WarriorN · 24/02/2025 07:40

It's an enormous shame as certainly the local one (northern) which was huge and had two amazing Facebook peer groups, one for babies and one for toddlers, is still firmly sex realist, due to the commitment of the remaining leaders. But it's clearly dwindling.

WomanInGrey · 24/02/2025 07:46

I left LLL in 2021, after a series of frustrating conversations with HQ trying to clarify how their position aligned with the Equality Act. I was sure, then and now, that it didn’t.

So I left, and I fear that that was the end of free breastfeeding support locally, as there weren’t very many volunteers and I know at least one moved away.

SunshinePleaseReturn · 24/02/2025 08:00

This is so sad.
Why didn't those that left LLL just start up a different organisation I wonder?

WomanInGrey · 24/02/2025 08:14

One of the LLL trustees who resigned said she is considering setting up a new organisation. But I suspect it would be an immediate target, and it’s possible she doesn’t have the organisational, emotional and legal resources to deal with that. It would be a huge amount of work and stress, and remember that LLL Leaders are volunteers doing this around their families and jobs.

When I left, I looked for another breastfeeding support group to join. But they were all, from what I could research online, not prepared to say that they only support women (I mean biological women, however they identify).

Presumably because men with a fetish determined to access women who breastfeed will simply target that. It's interesting (and understandable) that the OP says "All of the Leaders have resigned. And they are cagey about why"
Completely understandable given society's bullying of women for speaking out about safeguarding.

Kathleen Stock wrote a very powerful article in the Times yesterday pointing out the once unsayable:
" 70 per cent of trans-identified prisoners are incarcerated for sexual assault or violent crime, compared with about 19 per cent of the male prison population generally. (link in thread below). There's a reason men like this seek out women when undressing, breastfeeding, sleeping in hospital wards etc.

The only losers with the collapse of LLL are women - breastfeeding mothers. We're going to have to start speaking out and insisting that safeguarding is returned to being society's priority rather than the toxic demands of men claiming to be women.

This ideology is a cancer on society, starting quietly and insidiously, spreading and destroying everything it touches, catastrophic in its effects. Absolutely nothing is sacred - children, mothers, words, thoughts, relationships. All eaten, disfigured and hollowed out by the very worst instincts of misogynistic men and big pharma. It’s a tragedy.

Yes. Devastating. To think of all the women's groups and organisations that have been destroyed by this.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 24/02/2025 08:45

30+ years ago when my children were babies, I would have turned to the NCT for breastfeeding support if I'd needed it. Does anyone know how they are coping with this issue these days?

ArabellaScott · 24/02/2025 10:24

Not sure, Gasp0de. They do seem to use the word 'mums' liberally, though.

ArabellaScott · 24/02/2025 10:25

And the word 'breastfeeding' is used, too. No sign of the ghastly 'chest feeding'.

ArabellaScott · 24/02/2025 10:28

Hmm. Eyes on upcoming EDI policies, though.

Thanks. If they take their time over it, they may be one of the first organisations (by dint of leaving it so late) to be able to draw up a sensible policy that complies with the Equality Act, covering and discussing issues around inclusion of lesbian parents, parents with disabilities, parents from all religions and ethnicities and all socio-economic backgrounds, single mothers etc - but, given that they are the National Childbirth Trust and only one sex goes through childbirth, by definition they should exclude males from the groups they support except insofar as the males are supporting their female partners with pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding.

When it's a man ( ie a transwoman) doing it, it's breast feeding (as to say chest feeding would be to invoke gender dsyphoria) it's only when it's actual women breastfeeding that you have to call it chestfeeding.

I am so saddened by alll of this.

This is not what I would have ever dreamt would happen.

LLL was set up by mothers for mothers. It was pioneering in its time.

I am just so saddened for all those mums who now won't find the help and support to do something so womanly as to breastfeed.
Because of what? The need for some people to ignore biology and trample all over women's rights?

It's quite frankly terrifying. The world has gone mad.

OP posts:
Apollo441 · 24/02/2025 23:55

If we can't take control back we will set up new organisations for women. It may take years but we will do it. Gender ideology destroys everything it touches. LLL will not survive if it carries on this path.
