GMC appears to have done an almighty reverse here.

@carefulNOw there was an article (I'll see if I can find it) about someone denied entry to Egypt because they had changed the sex marker on their passport. The immigration authorities saw an obvious male and concluded the passport was fake

wonder if he had a massive tantrum because of being misgendered by Egyptian passport control?

We can start with weasels like this one and work our way up to the larger mustelids. When we get to reverse honey badgers and wolverines, we'll know the job's done.

Apparently one of the numbers has a sex F/M code. And as I understand a DOB is coded or at least deductable.

The system was designed when John Smith had a dad called John Smith and a son called John Smith, and as John Smith senior had died Mary Smith his wife was using his NI to get her pension and it was paper by post communication.

That waa the case argument in Ireland.
That a male with cosmetic changes should be issued a female marker on his passport because the border control would see and frisk a body with boobs and a unbumpy groin area.

I can't see any statement on the GMC website or X.
Have they actually changed this policy? Does anyone have a link to their statement? Their website says:

Please note that you don’t need to provide any evidence of your change in gender status.

And

Two separate register entries will appear on the medical registerr_. One will be under your old name and gender status and another will be in your new name and gender status. Both entries have a different GMC reference number and there will be no link between them to protect your confidentiality.

Separately, I see they are asking all members to provide information about religion and sexual orientation but they don't record sex.

After having lived there for a few years and knowing what Egyptian authorities are like, it wouldn't have got him very far. They're not know for being LGB friendly...nevermind the T.
There was a T where I lived that openly offered a range of intimate massages that were surprisingly popular with some local Egyptian men. I was surprised given how homophobic they are, but then again many are porn addicted misogynist women haters so it maybe shouldn't have surprised me.

If I request a female I would be able 99.999 % of the time at 100 paces to tell if they had tried to foist a man on me! Just when I'm anaesthetised is my worry and the handmaidens aiding and abetting!

Absolutely agree with this. No-one should be able to disassociate themselves from a legal identity entirely, there will always be highly manipulate people willing to exploit that loophole.

It would also remove the ludicrous and costly duplication in the DBS system (I have 4 separate DBS certificates!!) and also, surely, make things simpler for those working in the NHS, police services etc, if we all just had one number from birth.

But the DBS still insist that Ms means you have been divorced and instead of it just being accepted you have to confirm in the previous name section that you have had the same name since birth by completing it with your surname even though it's the same name. That's been the case for 20 years or so back when it was CRB and it's the same now (well last week when I completed mine again). Still can't be changed in the system despite more and more women opting for Ms But to create a whole new stream for gender feels was done quite easily

It's interesting that I had a mammogram recently with a lovely woman who squeezed me into the torturous titsquasher of doom. It was quite an intimate process and I think I might have really baulked if it had been a geezer.

But interestingly, the radiologist** was a frail young man and he set about ultrasounding and biopsying one of my accoutrements and I didn't mind one tiny bit. He was very professional, serious and neutral and there was a woman staff member there who covered me up as I was wrestled about.

So I guess was very glad the mammogram was done by a woman (who was really a lovely person as well) and that there was a woman with me when I was with the radiologist. I mean he does that all day just ultrasounds breasts - but I met no one minds because of his demeanor.

Many years ago I had a heterosexual Cis Male colleague, Andy.

Like many workplaces a few times a year there was a womens night out, plus Andy. I gather a similar thing happened in his next job.

I suspect that fact that they often went to the theatre might have had something to do with it as he was a bit 'high culture' so it wasnt as odd as it sounds

Also my radiologist was very young and slightly European and a bit chic.

As a patient I felt he had absolutely no sex at all - like a Ken with a mound - this is the way I want my medical professional who are manhandling my accoutrements.
