GMC appears to have done an almighty reverse here.

Dragged kicking and screaming towards sanity...

BelgianBeers · 23/02/2025 18:40

Can’t read it but I presume disciplinary records are staying attached to a person rather than a gender identity? Can only be sensible.

Intervention from Streeting appears to have worked.

Disciplinary records will now be visible to public.

Good news thanks, ArabellaScott!

'Off-ramp'
''Golden bridge
'Reverse weasel'
'Kicking and screaming'
'Turning tide'
Just a few words and phrases I hope we'll be needing more and more in 2025Smile

Radionowhere · 23/02/2025 18:53

I'm not sure this is good enough tbh.

Great news!
I still have a massive issue that they classify by 'gender' not sex, and that they allow self ID for that 'gender'.

lcakethereforeIam · 23/02/2025 19:02

I hope that ferret didn't get injured reversing so fast?

Huge thanks to that retired anaesthetist who blew the whistle!

I'm not sure this is good enough tbh.

At least it closes the a hole for the professional hiring process.

The legal basis
https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1983/54/contents

My next question would be do they hide the data under the old number or how do they publically close it down?
As the doctor is still on the register would section 31 or other section apply ???

If i knew i was going to be sanctioned I would get a new number have everything actioned under the new name and ID and if needed work out if the State under the old number which has education and training and a long clean work history .........

FinallyASunnyDay · 23/02/2025 19:37

This is very good news. Well done Dr Anonymous Anaesthetist and Wes Streeting. And also Dr Upton for shining a light on this issue.

RedToothBrush · 23/02/2025 19:39

Thanks Dr Upton.

(Told you Upton was on a lose - lose scenario).

Datun · 23/02/2025 19:41

They'd better refer themselves to themselves for whiplash

Datun · 23/02/2025 19:41

DBS next

JohnofWessex · 23/02/2025 19:43

There is a major issue which goes far beyond this case of people being able to change their name and hiding their history that might otherwise mean they could fail a DBS check or have their criminal record uncovered

JohnofWessex · 23/02/2025 19:44

Were there any issues over Dr Uptons medical career?

ArabellaScott · 23/02/2025 19:44

Yes, I'll also add my thanks to Dr Upton for exposing this shocking loophole. Thank goodness for you, Dr!

Were there any issues over Dr Uptons medical career?

Apart from admitting under oath that he'd ignore the consent of anyone asking for a female doctor and treat them anyway?

I guess that remains to be seen

Yes. There's quite a list isn't there?
The police for repeatedly lying about the sex of sex offenders, paedophiles and the rest.
IPSO - insisting the press lie about the sex of criminals in reports.
The NHS - where to start?

Once you start insisting on truth and accuracy this whole toxic mess starts collapsing.

Which seems to me to be a court case waiting to happen….

And it cannot come fast enough. It is genuinely concerning that it got this far.

youkiddingme · 23/02/2025 22:02

Good news. But I still want to know the sex of my doctor.

They replied to a FoI to say they have no data on sex of the doctors as they record gender instead.
