would you say mumsnet these days is a safe space for a non-transphobic lesbian with children to hang out?

What makes an average octopus into a magnificent octopus? Does it need a safe space to be its authentic self?

It needs blue rings!

You are now literally Hitler and dragonphobic

Ooh.
Is being dragonphobic against the TGs?

All octopuses are magnificent.

Mine does not need a safe space.

Depends if dragons have their own flag 🤔

YouAgainDamnIt · 04/02/2025 21:33

Er, no not a “safe space” [vom] and nor should it be. It’s open and occasionally robust discussion for grown ups.

Iamnotalemming · 04/02/2025 21:34

OP one of the best things about MN is that even the most serious threads can develop into discussions of dragons, baked potato fillings, cake recipes, carrots being planted and whether in any circumstances it is acceptable to leave your washing out overnight. Hang around and see for yourself.

rexrabbit · 04/02/2025 21:15

there seems to be a lot of vitriol going around about non het non cis stuff here

Are you trying to stir?

non het non cis? My eyes can’t roll enough. Many on here object to being called ‘cis’ - it’s an unnecessary term.

And I’m not sure what you mean by ‘safe’. Nothing will actually physically harm you here. You have the power to 1) understand that in a big space of random people, there will be differing opinions, and some people will be vocal.
2) report hate speech
3) Watch tv instead.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 04/02/2025 21:34

Nobody ever wants a beetle!

My fingernails currently rather closely resemble the elytra of the tansy beetle. I'll give you a home!

GailBlancheViola · 04/02/2025 21:23

I want dragons too, I am going to stamp my feet and shout It's not fair until I get some.

I would settle for unicorns.

SquirrelSoShiny · 04/02/2025 21:34

Ah, behold, the privileged ones walk amongst us, weeping for safe spaces where no one will tell you it's past your bedtime and get your Maths homework done before you lose your IPhone 🙄

Not all of us are transphobic. 🏳️‍⚧️

Judging from the attitudes I have seen on here? Not really!
Obviously there are a lot of different people on here with all different opinions but I am fairly new to visiting mums net and I was surprised and disappointed at how accepted casual bigotry is. Its not so bad now I realised I need to avoid looking at this board as nearly all the posts I clicked on turned out to be TERF central.

Curls up under a wing. 🐞

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 04/02/2025 21:36

I've got a cat. Or two.
Are either of them acceptable alternatives for beetles, which I daresay the cats would eat given half the chance

DrSpartacularsMagnificentOctopus · 04/02/2025 21:29

Nope, it's all mine. Soz.

I have two cats, and can confirm if I'm late doing breakfast they start gnawing on my legs!

Hello Broon, nice to see you in here.

You’re offering to swop your cats for beetles?

myplace · 04/02/2025 21:39

Actually having said earlier that it’s fine bar, robust discussion I’ve remembered how triggered I feel by the SPAG on the rest of the site. You should be ok on feminism and also pedants’ corner.

Not going so well that, is it?

This board is a very silly place sometimes.

DH did once try attaching wings to one of the dogs, but she entirely failed to get airborne, never mind breathe fire.

Total bloody let-down.
