would you say mumsnet these days is a safe space for a non-transphobic lesbian with children to hang out?

Or in simpler parlance, the front is the bitey end. I hate spiders...

Even women spiders?

FallenSloppyDead · 05/02/2025 10:37

The Equality and Human Rights Commission states that (without a GRC, which only a tiny fraction of trans people have) transwomen are male and transmen are female. Is that transphobic?

A trans person who does not have a Gender Recognition Certificate retains the sex recorded on their birth certificate for the purposes of the Act.

You realise don't you @heyhopotato , that us feminists are winning the war, and polls from 2020 to 2025 show a continual decrease in support for Gender Ideology, as time goes on? So in fact, eventually Gender Ideology will be looked back on in horror and seen as a terrifyingly misogynistic and outdated era. Or did you not know the polls slide more against Gender Ideology as each year passes? You appear to live in a misogynistic and insular outdated echo chamber that does not reflect reality in any way.

I don't care to read Daily Mail polls so I wouldn't know what they say.

YouGov, not DM

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/02/2025 10:44

They're not Daily Mail polls. They'd love to be able to show that everyone believes that any men should be able to use female spaces just because they declare they are women, because they are captured by gender identity ideology like so many organisations.

But it isn't true, so they can't.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/02/2025 10:45

Put it this way, @heyhopotato yours is the fringe belief 🤷‍♀️

TWETMIRF · 05/02/2025 10:48

Phthia · 05/02/2025 09:52

Where exactly did OP say she thinks lesbians should be happy to suck dicks? Why do you assume that simply stating that she is non-transphobic means beliefs like this? You do realise that failing to be transphobic doesn't mean you automatically embrace every aspect of transsexual beliefs, don't you? Guess what, as in all areas of human life, opinions vary.

Lesbians not doing dicks is saying that transwomen aren't women. We're told regularly that not seeing transwomen as women is transphobic therefore to be a non transphobic lesbian includes having sex with males.

FallenSloppyDead · 05/02/2025 10:49

'A new YouGov study, the third, and most expansive, in a series spanning back to 2018, shows evidence of an overall gradual erosion in support towards transgender rights. In some areas the shift is very pronounced.'

https://yougov.co.uk/society/articles/43194-where-does-british-public-stand-transgender-rights-1

A further YouGov poll in 2024 shows the erosion is continuing at pace:

And a very damaging, dictatorial, authoritarian one at that.

It never ceases to amaze just how much rage is induced in some people when women say No, have opinions, refuse to be coerced or forced to give away their rights, have an expectation that are worthy of human rights and are not merely tools for males to use and direct at will.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/02/2025 10:52

It's good that you recognise that this homophobic belief falls in the category of "transsexual beliefs".

FallenSloppyDead · 05/02/2025 10:53

YouGov calls it an 'erosion of transgender rights', but of course transgender people have all the rights that the rest of us have. What is being eroded is the public's willingness to allow them to have more rights than another protected group, women.

heyhopotato · 05/02/2025 09:58

No I wouldn't, it's a hotbed of hate here.

I try to be around to balance it out but it's depressing af. I wouldn't do it if I were LGBTQ or trans myself because it would make me suicidal reading some of the posts.

I take solace in that it's this generation's equivalent of homophobia and that the next generations will look back in horror at such outdated views.

A crap attempt at an ageist dig but you're wrong anyway.

The 12-15 year old generation see all this as attention seeking shite that "old" people in their 20s (!) believe.

I don't care to read Daily Mail polls so I wouldn't know what they say.

They are YouGov and even a few others, from actual professional polling companies, the same that do political and social polls and surveys. NONE are from the DM. But it says it all that your mind actually went there. As I said, echo chamber.

I don't even think DM even do polls!

Btw, the polls in UK, America and Australia all show the same trend downwards. Sorry to burst your bubble. But misogynistic cults are on their way out. Sorry. :)

Echo chamber or desperately trying to appear 'progressive', while in fact not having a real clue what they're banging on about?

Alltheprettyseahorses · 05/02/2025 11:10

Why on earth would anyone wonder if Mumsnet is a 'safe space'? It's a naice talk board full of mums and other naice ladies who may <the horror> have different opinions about some things. Sudan isn't a safe space, Myanmar isn't a safe space, Afghanistan isn't a safe space. Nothing will happen to you on here. Good grief!

SidewaysOtter · 05/02/2025 11:12

OK. Sometimes they'll just flat out tell you that you're wrong and why you're wrong - but still, they're not going to cancel you, expel you, dox you or come after you with pointy sticks - you can name change, come back again, and no-one will ever know.

But surely everyone knows that having to hear a gender critical viewpoint is the equivalent of actual genocide etc. etc.?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 05/02/2025 11:19

@Phthia - is it transphobic for a lesbian to refuse to have penetrative sex with a fully intact male individual who has self identified as a woman and a lesbian?

rexrabbit · 04/02/2025 21:04

That depends. Where do you want to hang them out?

FranticFrankie · 05/02/2025 11:35

Hotbed of hate??? I sometimes wonder if I’m reading the same threads/posts. The ‘hate’ and vitriol appears to come from only one side and that isn’t the so called ‘GCs’
Even posts attacking posters are met with humour, understanding and genuine questioning to encourage debate.
There are many places that are unsafe - war zones and places where women have no rights at all. Not mumsnet for goodness sake!!

PS love reading about dragons- my name is also Drogon.
Starting to feel less unique now.
We have a Beanie Baby Dragon- ‘Scorch’
Scorch’s birthday is July 31st. Now who else do we know with that birthday- coincidence? 😍

Echo chamber or desperately trying to appear 'progressive', while in fact not having a real clue what they're banging on about?

Yes, the ignorance about pretty much anything on this topic, from the views of the women here, to the actual arguments, to what feminists object to, to simple facts like where polls come from, is quite astounding. Imagine just being reduced to spouting lazy, fact-free shite like "you're all just DM readers" (most of us here aren't, thanks) and imagining that's some kind of gotcha.

Pathetic. That's what happens when you're in a scared little echo chamber where everyone just regurgitates whatever mantras and ad hominems about other people they're told to, without needing to utilise any brainpower whatsoever. Or even vague analysis or critical thought. Talk about a failure of education. It's very weak and one of the big reasons why the whole ideology is falling apart. It can't stand up to even basic scrutiny and when you listen to TRAs speak, they're full of this crap. Embarrassing stuff.

sinon · 05/02/2025 11:41

Social media isn't 'safe' which is why I think mobile phones & SM use should be restricted for children.

It depends what you are interested in and what your own views/opinions are.

If you go on the 'dog house' board and say you want to rehome your puppy-farmed designer-mutt puppy because you're fed up of them weeing on the rug - prepare for hostile abuse on a nuclear scale.

If you want a recipe idea for a party of 6 (2 vegans) which you can prepare in advance, then the Food/Recipe board will likely be a delight.

Coming on the FWR board and telling people they shouldn't care about women's & children's rights will be like a cat amongst the pigeons, so I wouldn't do that, you'll look like a troll and a wanker

Spike 🤔
More a vampire name maybe.

Spike is the dragon from My Little Pony. Not sure if he's in the crappy current version but was in the original proper version

Please don't use suicidality as a threat or throw away comment, it's an incredibly serious topic and one that shouldn't be used to scaremonger or add emphasis to try to get people to see things your way.

The suicide statistics often used to scare parents into affirming children who are questioning their gender have been proven to be false on multiple occasions and multiple studies have found that the affirmation model doesn't reduce or improve suicidality in these demographics.

Those of us who have lost family and friends to suicide do not appreciate people using mention of it as a gotcha to try to manipulate the responses of others.
