Because this board is full of aggressively transphobic posters who can't mention transgender people without mentioning in the next breath that they see them primarily as a danger to others, and that the start and end point of gender non-conformism is that can be can and should be 'cured' with therapy.

There's been real pleasure expressed on these board about what's happening to transgender people in the US right now, and distaste for the words of Bishop Budde in calling for mercy and kindness towards transgender people who are scared about their futures under Trump.

You could have easily just done what everyone else does and read the boards, found some threads that interested you and matched your vibe, and joined in. No need to announce all your labels first and do a 'safe space sweep' to make sure every single person thinks the same way you do.

Or you could get out in the fresh air with your kids and enjoy some nature, and stop navel gazing so much.

It's a public digital space. It's never going to be without risk of being challenged or told you're wrong or that someone disagrees with you. And that's as it should be, it's called reality.

If you want a 'safe space' I would make sure all your doors are locked and pop yourself into bed with a hot drink and a cosy novel.

I think it is safe as in if you want to be part of a conversation you can be and if you don't then just don't engage in that thread. It's completely based on choice so safe so long as you take responsibility for your own engagement.
