How many MNers will join me in applying for a GRC??

having read on another thread that it only costs £5 to apply for a GRC, how many MNers will join me in applying to ‘become’ a man?
one’s legal status as a mother will not change, and I’m sure we’ll all see a 20% uplift in our wages…
We might get turned down if the panel gets an inkling we might be insincere, but, for the sake of a fiver, we could swamp the application process…

thanks, I'm just speaking off the top of my head. My birth certificate was issued in UK but i would be changing my gender in the other country. I wonder if that would be enough for the UK authorities to reissue my birth cert in my acquired gender. Otherwise, although i would legally be the other sex, legally, my birth certificate would say different. That may cause me issues in UK where i might need to prove my sex for access to services.

Self Id is in effect already. Because asking to see the certificate is all kinds of wrong apparently, unless it's your boss asking for obvious reasons. But woman in street or toilet or changing room is not allowed to ask to see a certificate that may or may not yet exist.

So ummm I'm a man if I say I am.

Wondering now if this is a cheeky way to get my grc? I too have dual nationality. Itll be easier (I think) to become a man in one country than the other. Soooo I go become a man in other country (handily I'm visiting soon) then defacto get a grc here?

Some of the other evidence can be provided by my Tesco Clubcard and my woodwork certificates.

I’ll happily vouch for any of you - if your short hair, power tools, physics o grades or trousers make you feel like a man then I’ll write you a wee letter.

Sadly nowadays my trousers are of the elasticated waist variety but I do have a Black & Decker electric saw (other makes available), so I'll take a letter, if it's free, I've got to save my xmas money for my GRC after all. 😊

My neighbour has kindly acknowledged my new manly status and asked me if he could borrow a jack as his car has a flat tyre. Even better, it was over text so I now have written proof to use when I apply for my GRC. Obviously I stood watching him change the tyre and provided some helpful advice and encouragement.

If I'm a man I don't have to be kind do I. Men are not kind when they take womens sporting honours or show their dick in a women's changing room, disregarding women's feelings entirely. So if I'm not being kind I'm a man already.

Virtually impossible to see a gp around here. If I fill in the request form, enclose a couple of photos showing I've had short hair and worn trousers for a couple of years, say DH doesnt object and can I have a letter saying I have gender dysphoria I reckon they'll send it. They say they are really busy so why waste time on appointments? Then I can send my fiver and be a man legally.

If I found a sympathetic GP, say one who’s GC, and they agreed to write the necessary for me to get a certificate - then I could do it?

I mean, most GRCs must be actioned by a very small number of medics who are willing to say what the patient wants them to hear. If I say what those patients say, which is juts a matter of leaning their script, then I’ll get through a panel because there isn’t a objective measure of my gender distress, only what I say.

Anyone know if I'd have to use my new birth certificate? Should I go through this process, can i actually for some purposes stay female and for others be male. I'm assuming just like the certificate that I dont have to show to anyone, I can also use either bc. I dont see how anyone can stop me, but maybe I missed something.

I’m wondering if we can change the date on our birth certificates too. My star sign is Leo. But I feel like Pisces most days. So I’d prefer a March birthday.

To get a Gender Recognition Certificate, you need to provide a medical report written by a doctor or psychologist specialising in gender dysphoria.

The government kindly provides a list but
you don't have to use someone from that list.

There's always GenderGP, of course.

Gov.uk also says "Most applications need to include a second report written by a medical professional, but they do not need to specialise in gender dysphoria. This report could be written by your GP or surgeon."

I'm sure I could find a tutorial telling/showing you exactly what to say to get a diagnosis of gender dysphoria out of a medic.

oh don't, that reminds me of the time we got a flat in the car park outside the footy stadium (i had been cheering on my team, i had one beer and a pizza). chez Bref the deal is "your car, you fix it" and so out came the jack and on went the spare. The whole time i had a bunch of men trying to tell me how to do it, until my DH just said "when she was in the army she was captain of the shooting team" and then they just watched.

I should have smacked him with the jack for misgendering me...

I mean, joking aside - I don’t feel almost 56, in my head I’m about 20 years younger. Why can’t I apply for an age recognition certificate?

who is happy to re identify my place and date of birth ?

Changing nationality costs a small bloody fortune. A fiver is a total bargain.
