The latest bit of insanity out of Wales.

So this organisation, which takes public money to serve the community, decided to cancel its event because it wasn't allowed to unlawfully discriminate.

Carmarthenshire Winter Pride claims it had to cancel tomorrow's pride because the Free Speech Union threatened legal action over the pride's not allowing GC person/ people to attend.

The aim of the event was to bring organisations and people together to promote equality, inclusion and to fight hate.

"discrimination of any kind will NOT be tolerated"

And then they cancelled it when they realised that they wanted to to tolerate and practice unlawful discrimination.

It was due to be a gala event with Dame Nia Griffith, Joyce Watson MS and Adam Price ex leader of Plaid all due to be speaking. And they cancelled it to stop some lesbian women-of-a-certain age from coming.

Newsflash this event was designed to discriminate not only against gender critical people, but against Muslims, Catholics and a lot of generally religious people too, not to mention most ordinary people who think sex is real.

The heroic lesbians concerned and the amazing Free Speech Union are not putting up with this nonsense any longer. How long till everyone admits Wales has a problem?

This is just after Plaid one of the major Welsh political parties tried to argue in the Senedd for legalising uncontrolled medical experiments on kids.

A visit to a really lovely little town in Carmarthenshire last year was blighted by the tacky and rather unpleasant Pride element of what I assumed was normally a very pleasant summer music and classic cars event.
We cut our visit short as a result.

The TQ+ lot say that people should be tolerant and accept difference but only towards the approved people.

At least we now know how to get PRIDE events shut down. Just join in.

Yes, lesbians have long been unwelcome, and unsafe at pride marches. I haven't forgotten the bloke who shouted to a cheering crowd that the same sex lesbians protesting at pride ought to have been "dragged off by their saggy tits".

The tide is turning. Perhaps they'll arrange a "Spicy Straights and Men who Like to Dress as Babies" event for next year?

theilltemperedqueenofspacetime · 14/12/2024 12:26

Reminds me of the Puritans flouncing off on the Mayflower because James I stopped them from persecuting Catholics.

Also, they called it the Equalities Act and spelt whose as who's. They are monsters.

JetskiSkyJumper · 14/12/2024 12:43

GC views aren't a protected characteristic? So how is it discrimination?

Have you not heard of the Forstater ruling? Gender critical beliefs are protected under the EA2010.

Nope!

I admit Wales has a problem, please keep shinning the light on us, there's no talking to the troughers down the Bay, they're all handmaidens. Well done lesbians for getting the so called 'pride' event shut down.

Now all we have to do is figure out how to get the taxpayers money back, seeing as they didn't spend it on what they said they were going to.

PurpleSparkledPixie · 14/12/2024 15:49

So rather than accept a certain person they throw the biggest tantrum ever and take their whole event away? Wow. How intolerant of them.

Yes i think they are all captured. I am an ex-SNP supporter, for that reason. The only Nationalist group that aren’t are English nationalists. And they are ‘nasty right wing xenophobes’, apparently.

Olderbadger1 · 14/12/2024 16:37

Our former First Minister was a TWAW devotee and appointed a cabinet of like-minded mantra-chanters. A lot of damage was done to women's rights during his tenure, and there is no doubt that children have been put at risk as the ideology first took over the Senedd (gender-neutral loos, name lanyards that can be changed daily for the gender-fluid, LGBTQA+ Action Plans, and progress flags a-flutter) then moved in to schools, women's organisations, councils, the charity sector and NHS Wales.

There are some signs that suggest the new First Minister Eluned Morgan is not on this bandwagon. We live in hope.

I don't know about the others, but the Quebecois have a reputation for racism (might have improved a bit in recent years) and religious bigotry (worse than ever.)

Just a reminder that the most extreme wokesters in Canada are Justin Trudeau and his Liberal Party of Canada, currently in power. I'm not sure they could even be considered Canadian nationalists, Trudeau having made lots of proude references to Canada being a post-national entity…

As for the Parti Québécois (generally categorized as centre-left), the Journal de Montréal published an open letter from its leader, Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, a couple of months ago:

https://www.journaldemontreal.com/2023/09/14/vivre-et-laisser-vivre-reflexions-du-parti-quebecois-sur-lidentite-de-genre-et-la-diversite-sexuelle

In case you don’t feel like running this through Google Translate, PSPP calls for a debate involving all of society and in the Assemblée Nationale (Quebec’s parliament), mentions that certain theories have been imposed by intimidation and defamation, and asks questions about the effects of gender theory on children.

Pluvia · 14/12/2024 17:58

I think there are really troubling problems with the grifter culture that has developed in Wales because of Mark Drakeford's adherence to GI and dogged support of Stonewall. It's been most obvious in Cardiff with people like Lu Thomas and John Luxton, but I see they've both recognised which way the wind is blowing and moved on to other things so that when the shit hits the fan they're distanced from the worst of the fallout. Elsewhere there are loads of very dubious trans-entrepreneurs who've jumped aboard the voluntary sector gravy train. People follow the money and set up groups and organisations to exploit funding opportunities.

The more out of the way, the more small-town, the better because it's much more difficult for people to whistleblow if they're calling out neighbours and friends of friends. Kidwelly, which is where IIRC this Winter Pride was planned, has been a location for a long-term, prolific sex offender in the recent past.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-12703785

The south Wales police is highly politicised: it was a south Wales policeman who ripped down a banner saying 'Stop Transing Kids' because 'it might offend someone.' It's a safeguarding nightmare. The trans-friendly training has (I'd say deliberately) blinded police and other authorities to the transgressive nature of kink. And as we've seen from innumerable cases, male police are at least as porn-addled as any other sector of male society.

I'm told by people who've talked about this subject with the new First Minister that there is cause to feel positive. But Drakeford is still influential and Eluned Morgan can't stop people like him and Nia Griffiths from continuing to push the TWAW lies. Fortunately the Senedd election in 2026, the Trump situation and the threat of a Senedd dominated by Reform has certainly made Welsh Labour think a bit differently.

Is every month now claimed by the rainbow flag waving brigade?

I don't know about the others, but the Quebecois have a reputation for racism (might have improved a bit in recent years) and religious bigotry (worse than ever.)

Sadly, we're used to "Quebec bashing" from Canadians. IIRC, Québecois whose mother tongue is French represent about 2% of the North American population, so easy pickings.

Quebec is handed more than its fair share of immigrants because they land at Dorval International Airport or they walk from the US through Roxham (Trudeau's Liberals refused to control the border). The other provinces in Canada have categorically refused to accept these illegal immigrants and refugees (Canadian racism?). So Quebec bears the brunt (and the expense) of trying to integrate them. Thanks, Canada!

As for the "religious bigotry", Québec is resolutely secularist, having been controlled by the Catholic Church for so long. Government employees (particularly judges, police officers and the like) are not allowed to wear ostentatious religious symbols (yes, that includes hijabs). There's a "grandfather clause" excluding people who were already government employees. You can wear what you like in public, at home, at your place of worship and at work.

Heh, I guess you don't know about Québec either...
