Good for her - they certainly are. Wes's lips started to look very thin during the debate this week.

Thanks for the link

@spannasaurus thanks for the archive link - I'm rubbish at doing them.

Thanks for this OP. It shows the power the trans flat earthers have over certain MPs. Long overdue that they were held to account for their dangerous statements.

I may also be rubbish at them. I'm not sure that the link I posted actually works

YesYesAllGood · 13/12/2024 19:02

Works fine, @spannasaurus, thank you!

SinnerBoy · 13/12/2024 19:18

Neither works for me!

PurpleSparkledPixie · 13/12/2024 19:42

I cant read either. It's paywalled or page not found.

However I'm very glad Cass is being open about MPs spreading lies. And yes, I mean lies rather than misinformation.

"Politicians including Alex Sobel, the Labour MP, and Siân Berry, of the Greens, suggested it was discriminatory to allow the drugs to be used for children with early-onset puberty but not for children questioning their gender identity."

People are prescribed IV antibiotics for sepsis. Is it discrimination that I can't get them off label for my allergy-related cough?

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 13/12/2024 20:49

"Politicians including Alex Sobel, the Labour MP, and Siân Berry, of the Greens, suggested it was discriminatory to allow the drugs to be used for children with early-onset puberty but not for children questioning their gender identity."

This is unforgivable ignorant, words fail me. Quite apart from the fact that they are just dismissing the suffering the children who are experiencing early-onset puberty are going through, it's such a childish thing to say.

Datun · 13/12/2024 20:53

There isn’t evidence that getting people onto puberty blockers is going to help with their dysphoria, their body image or their mood.”

It is worrying that you've got MPs listening to transactivists, and not checking anything they're saying.

You'd think they would take a moment to understand the implications if they're wrong.

NotbloodyGivingupYet · 13/12/2024 21:01

There's a thread about a decision in the Welsh senedd to continue a ban on puberty blockers for minors.
The plaid Cymru speaker used the same discrimination argument there, to try and get the ban lifted. Tried to compare it to withholding free school meals - they are shameless.

I find it very surprising that people are willing to defend the unevidenced use of puberty blockers for gender incongruence.

By surprising I mean fucking mad.

Myalternate · 13/12/2024 21:55

My friend has an 9yr old daughter that was going through very early puberty (she was 8 at the time)but her GP wouldn’t prescribe PB’s because he was concerned they might do more harm than good. It’s totally untrue that PB’s are only withheld from gender questioning kids.

ArabellaScott · 13/12/2024 21:58

"Some of the work I was doing was trying to market drugs for things that shouldn't necessarily be medicalised."

Sian Berry has learned nothing, it seems.

'Continuing the blanket ban on puberty blockers is a worrying decision. The same medication continues to be used safely by young people for other reasons. By relying on the reason for prescription, is this simply discrimination against our #trans youth?'

Sian Berry: 'I developed my conscience working in London'

Sian Berry, the Green Party candidate for London's mayor, plans to run things from "the bottom up".

Good god, they get parliamentary privilege- surely there should equally be some punishment for stating things which they know, or ought to know are untrue. The older I get, the more I think people should have to pass some minimum standards of comprehension and statistics before they are allowed to stand to be an MP

too bloody right-anyone who says "trans women are women" should not be in charge of a fucking whelk stall, let alone anything else.

Ramblingnamechanger · 13/12/2024 23:56

Not Alex Sobel again …. What on earth was he elected for? Surely he knows the truth? Still not answering emails on this issue,

Bits of reading from years ago, before I was aware of trans issues, also gave me the impression it wasn't straight forward and many hcps and parents chose not to use them.

Waitingfordoggo · 14/12/2024 07:53

It's ludicrous to call it discrimination.

PBs for precocious puberty vs gender incongruence is like morphine for cancer pain vs morphine for a patient who doesn't have a physical illness but feels that their life would be much better if they could only take some opioids.
