This popped up on my linked in feed - a free advice line which offers legal advice to women suffering sexual harassment in the workplace welcomes applications from transwomen.

That's right women being sexually harassed by men, come and discuss the details of it with men.

Where?

The reason I keep asking is that you keep 'yalling' and I don't know if you are aware where this website is based.

all definitions are made up

So are capital letters. But keeping their meaning consistent is useful to allow what we are saying to be more coherent.

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/12/2024 20:33

Also 'cis ladies'. No, reported.

Yall who think the definition of woman is based on gender don't have the same scientific foundation for your defintion, though, do yall?

OK so follow this:

You can't define something by using its name. Pure logic. Things have to be defined by something else. In the case of sex you can use any number of things, but let's pick one, XY or XX. Simple. Woman is XX, man is XY.

Now try it with gender. Try to define 'man' and 'woman' without using the word itself (or male/female etc. that's cheating), or any harmful stereotypes.

do you have some UK based statistics to back up that claim?

if you want to have a baby, and you are unable for whatever reason and you want to use a surrogate. Are you going for a trans woman. Or the old fashioned type? Can you tell the difference then?

If transwomen identify as women, present like women, live their lives as women, and are 100% women, when they are the victims of sexual assault, surely they are also targeted as women?
Why the separate stats?

But 2/3 of 1% is still a lot less than1/5 of 51%. And we don't like cis, we're just women as has been used in English time out of mind and no asked if we would like to chqnge.
You are putting a very small m,inority againsta majority, with no reason as in rationality behind it.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/12/2024 21:01

just because you don't understand something doesn't mean its baseless

It is baseless though 🤷‍♀️ men can't "understand womanhood" in any other way than second hand.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/12/2024 21:01

"Cis" is a nonsense term.

i don't know how there can be stats anyway. I have been banging on about this for year: if the police can't (because they don't seem to want to) record sex and gender identity (if that person has one) then we can't know how many trans people are affected by anything

"Cis" is a nonsense term.

And offensive. It implies that I collude in my own oppression. Fuck that noise.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/12/2024 21:04

I expect this person is wheeling out some flavour of self reported convenience sample survey.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/12/2024 21:06

looking up the stats, for cis ladies SA rates are around 1/5 and SA rates for trans people range between 1/2 and 2/3. if you wanna fact check me im sure you can find some study on pubmed

How about you post a link to whatever made up stats you just "looked up"? Then we can see how they were derived and how reliable they are.

One that ignores confounding variables completely.

if you can use female in your definition of woman, then i can too. a woman is just an adult with the gender most associated with females

That's literally gibberish. Go on, what is this "gender"? What are its defining features? You don't seem to understand how definitions work, "yall".

I didn't.

XY = man
XX = woman

How is that using the word in the definition?

You're essentially saying, "a snorgle is something that has snorgly qualities, that feels snorgle-adjacent". This is meaningless.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/12/2024 21:08

Arrgh can't format!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/12/2024 21:09

mate i dont define womanhood by the ability to make a baby

Well no, that's not the definition of woman, well done. Only women can make babies though.
