Free advice line for female victims welcomes transwomen

This popped up on my linked in feed - a free advice line which offers legal advice to women suffering sexual harassment in the workplace welcomes applications from transwomen.

That's right women being sexually harassed by men, come and discuss the details of it with men.

It so chilling.

Sexual harassment at work is likely to involve a woman's boundaries being eroded / ignored by a man.

So knowingly employing a man to work in a service touted as female is a micro aggression at best. And potentially downright traumatising if you're a survivor of the kind of abuse that involves deception of some sort.

BobbyBiscuits · 06/12/2024 13:25

The way they're bunching in black, disabled and elderly women with blokes/ penis owners?
It's actually really offensive.
Trans women should have their voices heard in other groups, not those for marginalised women.

Datun · 06/12/2024 13:56

Ffs. What kind of man, who enjoys infiltrating women's spaces, would be drawn to an advice line where he can listen to how women are being sexually harassed.

I mean, apart from the entire ideology about transgenderism, where is people's common sense?

Every single bloody female helpline you can get will have men on there trying to get a wank out of it.

Don't go out of your way to offer it to them.

annejumps · 06/12/2024 15:30

Incredibly irritating how whenever something "for women" is announced it's immediately apparent that there's an asterisk.

Absolutely this.

Everyone knew it until about 10 minutes ago and then proceeded to forget what men will do to facilitate a boner because said men have declared they have gender feelz.

People need to snap out of this idiotic fugue state.

The "third rail" in this entire issue is how it's been shaped to be "unkind" to talk about whether men might be getting off on violating boundaries.

terryleather · 06/12/2024 16:22

Absolutely plus now we must accept, indeed celebrate, every conceivable sexual proclivity even if it's harmful to women and children because gawd forbid anything should come between a man and his boner...

NPET · 06/12/2024 17:35

"We offer a safe space for women" should maybe say "we offer a safe space for anyone who considers themselves a woman".
Which means in effect that they don't offer a safe space for us at all.

IwantToRetire · 06/12/2024 18:13

I dont personally know this group, but suspect this was a condition of funding.

Which isn't to say some may actually agree with it.

Dont forget Roz Adams doesn't have an issue with TW, but only with lying about them to clients.

Also the "we particularly welcome applications from (long list) ... " is now standard in local government funding.

ie it is the standard tick list that helps you get a grant.

Its high time that on FWR we started looking at the funding stranglehold on women's groups, and how much they are the problem.

Random posts about a women's group someone has stumble across doesn't really reflect what is going on.

Would be really useful if women formed local groups to monitor funding criteria of local authorities.

JKR cant be expected to fund everything. So unless a wider community of women than the immediate group challenge the councillors you have helped to elect this will continue to happen.

As it has in Brighton, Bristol, and no dout most parts of the UK.

I'm afraid that you have this the wrong way round. It is the people providing the lifeline that may be trans.

This is regarding SEX based violence though, not gender based.

And while I don't doubt that men pretending to be women (whatever their reason or motivation for doing so) are harassed, they will not have an experience that is the same as a woman's. So surely the best option for a man with a trans identity would be a helpline staffed by others like him? In other words, staffed by other men with a trans identity who have experienced similar?

Just as a helpline for women is best staffed by women

I think you've misunderstood my point.

A helpline for female victims of harassment should be staffed by females.

A helpline for males with a trans identity who have been victims of harassment should ideally be staffed by other males with a trans identity as they would be better able to empathise and support.

Treaclewell · 06/12/2024 20:00

Dear Confused. Humans are divided, mostly into two groups, plus a few utliers. One group, men, are responsible for 98% sexual crimes. Not 98% of men of course, a minority are responsible for most of it. They aren't morked with a forehead tattoo, so no one knows which they are.
The second group, actually slightly more than 50% suffer more of those crimes, and need help when they do.
The outliers may suffer harm as well and need support.. But they are few. A percentatge of 1%.
If they occupy the help offered to women, they deny the space the women need. That is, the 1% drive out the 51%. Why the hell should the women creep off to find some "anti trans" group when they have the greater need. Talk about dog in the manger.
A trans woman doing that is compounding the harm other men have caused, and if they can't see that they don't deserve to be admitted to any group of women. Real ones

But woman = adult human female, a group in which transwomen do not belong

annejumps · 06/12/2024 20:14

Oh, a troll.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/12/2024 20:15

i heard you the first time. my point was this was not advertised as a 'female helpline'. it was advertised for women, and they obviously are working with a definition of woman thats based on gender instead of birth sex

There is no such definition. A woman is an adult human female human being. Women are not a group of female people and some male people who fancy that they are women. They've made up their own definition to pander to activists.

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/12/2024 20:15

transexual women still get the worst in terms of sex based violence

Where?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/12/2024 20:17

A woman is an adult human female human being

An adult female human being or an adult human female, either works Grin

MarieDeGournay · 06/12/2024 20:20

Interesting re-interpretation of the words 'female' and 'woman', as if they mean different things. Interesting, but groundless. Why would anyone 'work on a definition of woman' that is includes women who are not female? Females who are not women? It just doesn't make sense, so let's just stick to the established, biologically accurate definition.
