I'm hoping in the future trans ideology will be used in safeguarding courses as an example of how creating any loophole in safeguarding and creating a 'sacred caste' (as Langcleg said) to whom the normal safeguarding rules don't apply causes problems.

Quite a few transsexuals who largely were getting on with their lives just fine and not bothering other people support everything we've said on here. Trans ideology has made their lives worse as they're now lumped in with the 'punch a terf' abusers.

But I don't think there's any rolling it back now.

SwissBall · 27/11/2024 08:23

I’m glad they went with the confrontational approach tbh because the behind closed doors is more successful (and terrifying) option. This way more people have understood what’s actually going on and had the ability to push back.

borntobequiet · 27/11/2024 08:26

I really like the comment about male players “benefiting from discordant biology on the field”.
I wish I’d seen it in time for my complaint to the BBC about Barbra Banda.

We don't want sticks or carrots in women's spaces.

Although actually they did both, and the Dentons playbook was pretty successful - more so in other countries. Think you’re right though, without the violent and obviously unreasonable wing, we’d probably be in a worse situation

illinivich · 27/11/2024 09:28

The shouty teen enbies and the men in their parents back bedroom sharing selfies of themselves aren't shaping government policies.

Its the reasonable transsexuals, who only wanted to live their lives, who made making school children call them 'miss' possible.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 27/11/2024 09:32

I think they're too late to go back to secrecy plus pretty stories. The genie is out of the bottle and there are already too many other stories in the public domain that challenge their narrative.

Agreed. The exchanges below the line under articles about all this have changed dramatically. The population have "educated themselves" and are horrified at what they've seen and learnt. So many families struggling with groomed and gaslit children believing in the wrong body narrative and the failure of institutions to challenge the narrative, instead using shame and blame to coerce families into compliance. Fear is the currency this ideology has used - both threats of violence and fear of exclusion and social condemnation.

As so many bullies find, eventually the oppressed turn on them

flyingbuttress43 · 27/11/2024 11:31

So they want to switch to the "you catch more flies with honey than vinegar" approach. Too late. This only works in the long term if you have a logical argument to begin with - which they don't.

To stretch the analogy: their house of cards is beginning to collapse because the TRAs have overreached themselves. Even the most myopic among us are seeing that this is a targeted anti-woman, anti-child movement where the vanishingly small number of people with the psychological problem of gender dysphoria are catching strays and being damaged alongside the TRAs real targets - women and children.

MassiveWordSalad · 27/11/2024 13:38

It's too late, they keep showing us who they are and it never gets any prettier.

andIsaid · 28/11/2024 05:12

Datun · 27/11/2024 07:58

Yes they're missing the point in the article.

People don't want what they're selling. The fact that they tried to sell it with violence is a separate issue. And just meant that more people didn't want it, for more reasons.

They can stop the violence, but people now know exactly what it is they're trying to sell.

And it sure as shit is not live and let live.

I saw that article yesterday and really disliked the NYT for it.

MAJOR reverse ferret from them.

Dreadful journalist - no mention of the insane violence promised to JKR or her children, or the doxing and intimidation, or the deliberate campaigns for people to lose their jobs. Weak.

The next step will be to send out the women - as in, female born male identifying with a "see? we are nice" message.

NYT have been dreadful on this topic. On the hand they bleat "follow the science " on Climate Change but on this "follow the feelings".

No courage and no consistency.

Also (forgive me, I am ranting now), their readers HATE gender woo. The comments come fast and sensible. So much so, they often turn them off.

Yes. The ones who wrote the policies for their unions & got involved with women’s groups.

'You lose support when anyone asking basic questions is categorized as transphobic.'

This, in a nutshell.

Also turning a blind eye while every shitty misogynist leaps on board, happy to get the chance to attack women without consequence (at times with reward) has done the movement no favours (as noted by others upthread).

Helleofabore · 28/11/2024 07:18

What is unsurprising to most of us is that inevitably, the vast majority, bar a very few, of male people with transgender identities all end up with variations of the same line. That is ‘I still want to use female toilets and there is nothing you can say to stop me! And little you can do to stop me!’

No matter how supportive they are on the surface and how moderate they are on some issues, that end point tends to be sticky. Just look at Brianna Wu even in the past month. From the emotionally manipulative ‘but you all want me to be assaulted’ to the equally emotionally manipulative ‘I know I am not quite like you other women but yous all don’t know anything about the pain of not being able to present how you want to or to live with not expressing yourself like we poor men’s do!’ (paraphrased obviously).

It really is like a constant replay of most of the male posters with transgender identities we have had post similarly on MN FWR.

And yes, sadly it is those ‘reasonable’ male people who shape the policies. That is why I laugh in the face of despair when any poster tries the ‘but you should be moderate and reasonable, you are too extreme’.

I think ‘turning a blind eye’ is too kind.

The shitty misogyny is part of the movement. The whole concept of gender is intrinsically misogynist.

illinivich · 28/11/2024 08:13

The other thing they are missing is LGB organisations including the whole of the 'trans community', not just the LGB ones.

No doubt there have always been 'trans' gay people - very gender non conforming people who social refered to themselves as the opposite sex. But straight middle age men werent, and the teen trans girl never existed.

Then they push private gay culture onto the mainstream. Drag queens spouting misogyny are everywhere, pride parades parade kinks.

So normies are seeing a community that doesn't have boundaries in term of who is included and behaviour - they promote fetishes at the same time as including young girls and boys.

And the fact they refuse to see this is in itself a big problem.

So someone's figured that emotional manipulation doesn't work because it's abusive?

Can't wait now to hear the rational arguments why we should allow males in our spaces and sports, and why we should be pro-mutilating children.

Bring them on........

When publications like the NYT acknowledge that the “kids will kill themselves if they don’t get this treatment!” narrative is the most abusive, manipulative and evil bullshit of an entire ideology of such, then I might think people are seeing the light.

I've always been puzzled by the 'flies prefer honey to vinegar' adage, it's my observation that flies prefer bullshit, but I'm not a fly so...

Oh that take down was brilliant.

The crap that that particular male posted was a beacon of truth. Not for the words that were posted. Fuck that. No. Because it showed what wildfirewhisper posted. How fucking misogynist could a person get?

And the old ‘you just need to get to know us’ trope. Actually, all the tropes. The dealing with testosterone, the chemical imbalance, the get to know us, you have no idea what it is like, our lovely friends tell us….. and on and on. It was a great lesson in emotional manipulation. It was a proverbial bingo card!

And it kicked off because women said ‘no! We don’t want you in our toilets’.

plus ca change.

Quite.

Let's remove all the outrageous demands, because I'd love to see what is left.
