The quoted comments from the congresswoman are brilliant

First trans member lawmaker blasts GOP after bill blocks bathroom use

A trans war has broken out on Capitol Hill after a Republican lawmaker proposed a measure to block transgender women from using biological women's restrooms in the U.S. Capitol.

I always think of Kellie Jay Keen’s straight cry of ‘He’s a man’ at the swimming competition in the U.S. Proponents of men’s right to trump women are camouflaging it as women being the nasty ones when we push back on their pretence. There is a great enjoyment, and willingness from other women who want to be in with the guys, to trample on and abuse women in this way. And, the great fraud as they are supporting those poor, sensitive, vulnerable diddums (men) who allegedly have less power than the women and girls they trample on.

The Reps seem to be saying "man". They aren't mangling their language. Let's hope it catches on here so we don't have to suffer any more tip toeing around the issue and everyone can understand it easily

I agree the words of the congresswomen are brilliant, she's just stating the reality of it and the demigods are repeating all the same old tired tropes.

I noticed it was framed a 'trans war' instead a women's rights issue again. 🤬

It's a trans war because Mace could not give a toss about women's rights, or she would not be a republican.

Doesn't this show Mace cares about women's rights to privacy, safety and dignity? After all she's objecting to male people in the women's facilities, not to female people who claim a special identity.

DoreenonTill8 · 19/11/2024 21:39

Aah but @Snowypeaks some people says 'she's a big meanie' so we're all meant to nod and agree because they #know better....

100% Jame Gumb vibes.

How stupid do you need to be to post something so sinister and threatening to/about a Congresswoman? Mace has pinned it, it’s going to be very effective in proving why women don’t want men in female spaces.

It highlights rhe TRA’s impulsivity and lack of self-awareness

No. She is only tryng to score points and press.

She is anti-abortion, supports the SCOTUS overturning of abortion rights, and has voted against the women's Healthcare act of 2022 that would have ensured a woman's right to treatment if her pregnancy was endangering her life.

Mace's voting record reflects a disdain for the health and safety of women, especially around the issue of our pregnancy health care.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/11/2024 21:46

She's still entitled to use a female only toilet though. All women should be.

I don’t think the, “Republicans don’t care about women” trope is working anymore, is it?

Seems like American women have appreciated that Democrats also don’t care about women, to the extent that their category of “women” also includes men

Rhaidimiddim · 19/11/2024 21:50

EdithStourton · 19/11/2024 08:12

One thing this whole debacle has told me is that women don't really have rights. We have what the important people say we can have.

I fear our daughters and granddaughters will be fighting a rearguard action to keep what we have well into the future.

Edited due to autocorrupt.

Beautifully put! As a 67-y-o, I get the eye-roll, yeah-yeah, from women of younger generations who take for granted "rights" that I and my generation (and the next one!) had to fight for.

They have no idea that these rights are fragile and need to be monitored and defended lest the patriarchy take them away again.

I had to take a dear friend a state away for an ectopic pregnancy this summer. Republicans do not care about women. If McBride were a republican, they would be cheering her on.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/11/2024 21:54

I'm sure people have a lot of different views about this issue. Why do you think Seth Moulton spoke against men in women's sports? He hasn't had much support from his party.

While I don't agree with everything on the "progressive" side of the left when it comes to trans rights, Democrats have a record of enshrining protections for women in law that the Republicans do not.

That history and current effort is not negated by bathrom access for trans women.

One side is happy to see us die in childbirth, the other is not.

This individual has also said JK Rowling should be assassinated & is trying to build some kind of army of trans assassins (as in assassins who ID as trans, not a gang to rush round saving lives) who will murder any woman who speaks up/out against TRA nonsense. Like any sane & balanced person might…

.... "enshrining protections for women in law " and then overseeing the dismantling of the legal definition of the term "woman".

But the Democrats aren't anti-abortion, so that's alright.

How can you define protections for women in law, if your definition of women also includes men?

GailBlancheViola · 19/11/2024 22:12

Democrats have a record of enshrining protections for women in law that the Republicans do not.

So why did the Democrats not enshrine these protections in law when they had the opportunity then? Obama had two terms of office to do it, Biden could have done it but didn't, do you really believe Kamala Harris was going to?

Biden took away rights from women and girls.

You'd think Afghanistan and Iran would be cautionary tales really.

Single sex toilets are essential for women to be able to participate in public life. All too many women are already self excluding due to mixed-sex policies.

Democrats put Rachel Levine in a position of power where he was able to dismantle women's rights and harm children.

But he wasn't anti-abortion, so that's alright.

themostspecialelfintheworkshop · 19/11/2024 22:20

Well in the most recent elections some states voted in pro- choice legal protections to abortion and also voted for Trump. So pro-choice plus also pro-single sex spaces. A winning combination for women.

Where voters could directly vote to protect access to abortion I wonder if they were more likely to vote Trump. After all, they had a direct vote on the abortion issue far more meaningful than whatever vague and unconvincing promises Harris made. As previously noted Clinton, Obama and Biden did sweet fa for women on this issue at a federal level so no evidence Harris would do differently whilst definitely taking away right to fair and safe sport.

Funny how lots of parents don't want their daughters being a punch bag for males with 163% more punch power.

I think you mean removing women's rights as in title 9 or the self id laws in california also the removal of women's single sex spaces in several democratic states

The Republicans* are anti-abortion and pro-women’s single sex spaces and sports, and against medical transition of children.

The Democrats* are pro-choice, and anti-women’s single sex spaces, and support the medical transition of children.

We’ll call it a draw, shall we?

*not all of either party believe these things of course.
