Vultures are awesome. In India they've declined by over 90% because of a cattle medicine that's lethal to them. Law of unintended consequences is a massive rise in dog attacks on people.

I'm going to assume that door vulture is called Tina, and not that her pronouns are T/NA.

Loving the mosaics. Although the dwarf pigs are feeling a little overlooked.

If we want more carnivores, in addition to the cats, might I suggest otters?

Boiledbeetle · 14/11/2024 11:28

@ifIwerenotanandroid beautiful cats looking forward to going for a wander when it's all done up there.

I like top right on the capybara mosaic

Try these (they're not as magnificent as your historical documents, though).

Vultures aren't predators - but sometimes they are tempted...Smile
Sorry to hear they are disappearing so fast, they do an important job and as Errol says ' It's not their fault they've got hygienic heads and bad PR.'

Yes, but be careful - I believe they take the phrase 'finger food' all too literally.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 14/11/2024 12:13

Just noticed that the centre/top right capybara appears to be swimming in a mosaic rather than in water - that, or it's emerging out of a rather fancy toilet (though not as fancy as Boily's crystal ones).

And don't anybody mention pockets.

I'm glad i actually put a sensible shop in the basket the other day instead of the usual holding basket of 4 pouches of tobacco and nothing else

A few weeks ago, we got a message from Sainsbury's, on the morning of our delivery, saying that due to some problems, no fresh produce was being delivered. Dh immediately went online and booked a delivery for the next day, so we could replace anything that was missing, and filled it with dog food, to get over the amount for delivery.

The delivery arrived and was almost complete - one item missing, I think, so we went merrily on about our day, and didn't even consider cancelling the extra delivery. The dogs were very impressed with a supermarket delivery that was just food for them!

I felt sorry for the poor guy who had to watch us operate the woodworking machines, he was constantly forced to suddenly start running rather quickly towards at least one idiot each lesson

When my dad was a teacher, he was covering a woodwork lesson, and one of the bright sparks decided to stick his finger into the back of the lathe - the cover was off for some reason, and he looked in, saw the spinning innards of the lathe and thought 'Yes - putting my finger in there is a great idea!'

Apparently it dislocated all the bones and elongated his finger into a sac filled with blood and phalanges. Dad had to bandage it to a padded board and take the bright spark to Cas, where they carefully drained it, and relocated the bones.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/11/2024 12:25

I'm not at the mercy of Sainsbury's etc online issues as DH does the shopping nowadays. Rarely needs a list even. Today he randomly bought a dragon fruit...turns out to be showy but tasteless. I'll try not to take that personally as a hint for my further posts.

That's the sort of example I use when giving the big health and safety talk at the start of the year! I have a carefully curated selection of pictures of nasty injuries

ifIwerenotanandroid · 14/11/2024 14:10

I'm just imagining going to Magpie's for dinner, after which she dims the lights as she says, "I got some new pictures for my collection. Would you like to see a slideshow?".😱

Oh I chopped the end off one of mine! Apparently a permanent reminder for future idiots remained as a red stain on the floor by the machine for at least a year after!

In other news...

There is a letter on the GP computers from the consultant after the op!

God knows what it says as I'm still waiting to see if they'll agree to email it to me.

inkymoose · 14/11/2024 17:13

Loving the chat. You are all so funny and cheering! Too many brilliant posts to mention. The AI is superb. Just fantastic! The cat mosaics! The Capybara scenes!(although [whisper] I don't even like cats much, I was the odd one out in my family as a child in that regard) hides behind nearest Capybara

Eek! I hope it is better than that terrible consultation you had with that eejit consultant. Bollocks to him!

I'm not keen on cats. Mainly because of my -obsession with fondness for rodents.

One day I will have my rodent zoo. One MNetter has already bagsied a job as a Cute Animal Keeper. Unless she's too grand now (curtseys to Her Gorgeous Majesty).

lcakethereforeIam · 14/11/2024 17:27

I keep imagining the doctor said 'testicle' meaning a small test. I know he was talking literal bollocks but the thought's got lodged there. I'm picturing someone with English as a second language, or just terminally twee, sitting utterly aghast as beetle rips him a new one before flouncing out. I wish that was the correct explanation 😕

DeanElderberry · 14/11/2024 17:29

Boily slamming the door on his testicles was obviously language he understood.

Makes a note.
