Do these idiots really think they are clever.

🚨Breaking🚨

Trans activists have just disrupted the annual Conference being held by LGB Alliance by releasing insects in the main hall.

These nasty individuals who seek to disrupt a peaceful conference of lesbian and gay people show themselves up to be the real bigots.

It's a relief that somebody is sufficiently grown-up to work out that hosting a funder to commit crime is not a good look.

Although, The Righteous will twist this into yet more "LOOK HOW OPPRESSED WE ARE" wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Bother - forgot about not being able to post crowdfund links. Was saying that the crickets one has gone but the general 'raising funds for direction action' one from the same organisation is still up.

Good

TheBrickHare · 14/10/2024 18:32

Without the direct link to what can generally be agreed to be a homophobic hate-crime it’s probably a struggle to force crowdfunding sites to pull the other pages. You’d hope the fact they were blatantly sourcing funds for crime would get the organiser banned from starting future funds, but apparently they would require too much.

Poor little poppets will have to break into their trust funds to buy the next box of insects.

That tweet was after - the crickets were released just before 4pm

Lovely incriminating hope the rozzers are on it

I was at the conference, the second I’ve attended.

I’m not a member - but only because the LGB Alliance doesn’t have members.

Im bisexual & married to a bisexual. I travelled there with a lesbian who has been with her wife since 1986, & met up with three lesbians aged between 30s - 70s, & a gay man in his 30s, all from our local LGBAlliance Friendship Group.

The conference was introduced by a lesbian, the keynote speech was by James Dreyfus, a gay man, the panels included - gay men talking about their experiences in coming out over the last 50 years; a bisexual journalist interviewing a young lesbian about young lesbians’ experiences today; lesbian & gay journalists, publishers & media folk talking about media coverage; & a discussion about law including Michael Foran, Akua Reindorf, Lizzy Pitt & an Australian lawyer whose name I forget: at least 3 of them out gay & lesbian.

In the crowd I recognised a number of prominent gay men & lesbians that I know from social media.

One rather sad thing is the relative lack of older gay men: a generation from which many have been lost to AIDS.

So where were all the straights? 🤣

James Dreyfus posted a screenshot of his LGB Alliance official membership card on his twitter account! So they must have members.

You can become a “core supporter” if you donate (presumably over a certain threshold) monthly and get a card. I’m not sure what that gets you, but you can subscribe to the newsletter and go to friends groups without that. There’s no formal membership though. Perhaps James Dreyfus just shared a photo of his core supporters card?

I do not know whether any of the young people involved in this are gender questioning, but memories of school suggest that there are girls who are capable of extremely malign acts, and that girls in groups are worse than girls on their own. They are not necessarily being manipulated by men.

That said, I worry about the possibility of young people with this kind of aggressive temperament taking testosterone.

I'm struggling with my response to all the posts describing the perpertrators as vulnerable.
People involved in social justice activism know about genocide, they know about dehumanising language. I find it very hard to believe they aren't fully aware of the resonance the image will have of fumigators coming into the conference centre after gay men and lesbian women have vacated it.
I think these young people have done something very cruel, evil, even.
Perhaps they are particularly dim and didn't recognise the connotations of their vandalism, but I think it's more likely they are cruel bullies who have cottoned onto the fact that claiming a trans identity gives them a free pass because then every adult within cooee can say nothing but, "They're so vulnerable." Regardless of what they do.

ArabellaScott · 15/10/2024 06:52

Once again: 'vulnerable' does not mean 'harmless' and it does not mean they aren't culpable. Many, many people are both vulnerable and pose a risk to others.

ArabellaScott · 15/10/2024 06:54

SJ Baker is a convicted violent torturer and attempted murderer; a very dangerous man.

He is also vulnerable.

Being vulnerable does not mean one is exempt from responsibility.

A 13 or 14 year old being encouraged to carry out a criminal act, knows they are doing wrong but they also are potentially being manipulated or coercively controlled. "If you don't do this then they will make you kill yourself. They deserve it because they hate you so much" etc etc. They have been radicalised.

It also doesn't mean they fully understand the lifelong consequences of a conviction. If mummy and daddy always bail them out of bad behaviour, why would they? They are still at an age where the concept of earning your own keep is rather alien and by all accounts, again mummy and daddy will bail them.

However their ambition to do X or y job may not be possible with a serious criminal conviction even as a minor, because there will be other candidates without that. (Of course they will just be able to blame it on being trans).

The joined up thinking between knowing you are doing wrong and understanding that this might mean child protection orders, being potentially removed from your family, hours of police interviews and court cases and then lifelong implications for a 14 year old (who may well also be autistic or even on puberty blockers so perhaps particularly immature).

The whole point here is that their age means they can be exploited and not fully aware of the consequences even though they are complicit.

Otherwise we have to start believing that 14 year old girls targeted by grooming gangs for sexual exploitation somehow 'deserve it' or 'want it' too.

Yes. I saw a video recently of some young Americans who were / had been on puberty blockers and they looked and acted much younger than their actual ages.

Yes I reported it using their guidelines on breaking rules for fundraising and I received an email from Just Giving today to say the Crowd funder had been pulled.

Well quite.

They obviously got the memo.

"Alright guys, that court case caught us out 😱😱, can a few more of you put down that you are gay men / lesbians when we send the next survey out? Please and thank you, thank you, ta muchly, muchly 🙏🙏🙏🙏 😅😅"

I’m a heterosexual member of LGB Alliance, and of many other organisations that aren’t about me. They benefit women escaping domestic violence, or people in developing countries, or animals, or the environment and many other good causes. I join to show solidarity in a practical way, by sending money.

I realise it’s hard for TRAs to imagine caring about something that’s not all about yourself. But most other people can manage it.

Absolutely. With homophobia and animal cruelty thrown in, something to alienate most potential donors.

I joined at a feminist event where they had a stall, nice and easy! But I have found this link on X.com, where you can donate a set amount each month.
https://lgballiance.org.uk/core-supporter/

Hope that works. As my real active activist days recede into the past, and I get older and creakier, I’m glad I can stay involved by sending little bits of money.
