Do these idiots really think they are clever.

🚨Breaking🚨

Trans activists have just disrupted the annual Conference being held by LGB Alliance by releasing insects in the main hall.

These nasty individuals who seek to disrupt a peaceful conference of lesbian and gay people show themselves up to be the real bigots.

I expect they’re probably a bit gutted not to be dragged off by the rozzers and banged up. Hard to be the most oppressed evah when you can’t get arrested no matter what you do. I mean how does one get one up on just stop oil in the middle class oppression stakes

😄

It must be really frustrating trying to get oppressed when no-one is actually oppressing you. No wonder they are so angry all the time 😆

Zahariel · 14/10/2024 14:24

Sadly I think the whole thing will be ignored by the police, they have not shown any interest in looking at anything before have they

RedToothBrush · 14/10/2024 14:25

CautiousLurker · 14/10/2024 14:21

@RedToothBrush that’s the issue for me too - it was quite clear that they had been brought along by at least one consenting (enthusiastically encouraging) parent and were with SJ. A sort of Fagin and his troop of pickpockets, getting them in to do the adults dirty work. Was so please every post from Kate and Bev has highlighted that these were impressionable young kids who, once caught at the end, seemed very frightened/silent.

They have been led to believe that LGBA is full of hateful people, not kindly mature lady founders offering them biscuits before the disruption and asking them what they actually wanted/offering to sit and talk with them afterwards. Not showing anger at these vulnerable kids was the right approach, but JFC it can be directed at the criminal barrister mother and SJ et al.

Edited

Cass has also pointed out the Munchausen issue and coercion from parents being a factor in SOME children transitioning. (This isn't something which is theoretical - it's been observed as a real concern).

So it's not a leap here when we look at what's just happened - seemingly with parents present - to be wondering the degree to which this might extend and what political aims it might ultimately have.

We should be asking various questions.

What happens if the next escalation has much more serious consequences and the police haven't acted?

You risk public disorder issues and the incident being exploited by other groups with violent aims.

This is simmering wider issue over social media.

There are gathering concerns within high levels of government that fractures like this are being deliberately whipped up by foreign interference too.

The police are well aware of this.

They can only ignore this to a point.

We either just have hit that tipping point or are not far from it.

CautiousLurker · 14/10/2024 14:29

@Zahariel perhaps, but the QE2 centre has a right to insist on prosecution, doesn’t it? It’s the victim, as were the poor staff members forced to clean up (kill) the insects, plus any associated costs of them getting into the air conditioning system. That may have to be serviced now at extra expense so there is a criminal damages issue. Not saying the kids should be held responsible, but the adult who procured and supplied them; the adults who I assume probably paid for their entrance tickets and passes; all guilty of conspiracy at least?

These kids could (emph COULD) end up with ASBOSs which, in turn, could mess up their uni/employment prospects. It’s wreckless - utterly heinous in fact - for adults to manipulate children in this way.

RedToothBrush · 14/10/2024 14:33

This incident sits with the context of the recent riots, the antisemitic incidents within the Palestinian protests and the Just Stop Oil issues.

This ISN'T just about trans rights now.

It's about wider problems with public unrest, public order and rights to protest.

They just jumped the Trans Rights Shark into a much bigger and much more complex concern particularly about online radicalisation.

I completely agree - the Police should act harder now to head off things later - I just don't think they will however many people refer this incident on the link above

Sazzasez · 14/10/2024 14:34

I was at the conference, the second I’ve attended.

I’m not a member - but only because the LGB Alliance doesn’t have members.

Im bisexual & married to a bisexual. I travelled there with a lesbian who has been with her wife since 1986, & met up with three lesbians aged between 30s - 70s, & a gay man in his 30s, all from our local LGBAlliance Friendship Group.

The conference was introduced by a lesbian, the keynote speech was by James Dreyfus, a gay man, the panels included - gay men talking about their experiences in coming out over the last 50 years; a bisexual journalist interviewing a young lesbian about young lesbians’ experiences today; lesbian & gay journalists, publishers & media folk talking about media coverage; & a discussion about law including Michael Foran, Akua Reindorf, Lizzy Pitt & an Australian lawyer whose name I forget: at least 3 of them out gay & lesbian.

In the crowd I recognised a number of prominent gay men & lesbians that I know from social media.

One rather sad thing is the relative lack of older gay men: a generation from which many have been lost to AIDS.

So where were all the straights? 🤣

Yes they do have that right, I guarantee they will not though as it looks bad, and the police will ignore any referrals made to them. The funding page is somehow still up despite literally asking for money to do more crimes.

I believe they have been reported to PREVENT.

I saw. Quite rightly.

It was a completely rational and reasonable thing to do.

Plus the QE2 centre must have taken a severe blow to its reputation. They’re practically opposite Parliament & promote themselves as a ‘world class’ conference centre - they’ve now been exposed as having massive holes in their security. Any fanatic or radicalised idiot could have brought anything in.

It's a wildlife crime, I'm not sure what other crimes it may be prosecuted under.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/importing-non-native-animals

'You can be fined or prosecuted if you:

  • allow any non-native animal to escape into the wild in the UK
  • release any non-native animal without a licence to do so
  • keep some non-native animals without the right licence
Non-native animals are any animals which have been deliberately or accidentally introduced into the UK. Non-native animals can be any of the following:
  • mammals
  • birds
  • reptiles
  • amphibians
  • fish
  • insects and other invertebrates, for example, spiders'

Thanks, Arabella - I thought there must be some kind of wildlife legislation somewhere. Obviously I don't know if the crickets were natives one or not.

I would be disappointed if the police didn't take this further and at least make an arrest. I was going to write "surprised", but this is the Met, so nothing would surprise me.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 14/10/2024 15:33

I'd like to see the likes of Stonewall and Galop come out and condemn this because theres a clear problem. Raising concerns about the implications of replacing sex with gender is in the public interest and is NOT a hate nor inciting hatred. Its lawful. Yet we've certainly had Stonewall suggest differently. Yet when have unlawful acts theres a certain problematic silence here. Thats not REALLY going to wash for too long.

Stonewall posted some platitude about LGBTQ hate crime and then swiftly restricted replies and hid all the posts asking them to condemn the homophobic hate crime of attacking LGB Alliance.

Bev Jackson was interviewed about the event by Andrew Doyle:

Thanks for this, she comes across very well. She mentions that the entire centre will have to fumigated as crickets were in the lift as well as the original room. The young numpties responsible and their parents could be in for a very large bill.

In a previous job I worked with children who were at risk *of Child Criminal Exploitation, from County Lines to car theft rings and all sorts in between- these were working class (or more accurately no one in the household working) children being used by adult criminals for their own needs.

I fail to see a difference here, except it may be their parents have the contacts and know the system well enough to lessen the consequences.

*Actually well past the at risk stage by this point.

Has this been posted?

Thanks, that was an instructive watch / listen for me. I hope that certain people don't pick it up and use it to pretend that the entire membership is straight.

lcakethereforeIam · 14/10/2024 16:41

Isn't Bev Jackson lovely? I'm glad they finished with a bit about the content of the conference. It's been overshadowed by the hate crime but it didn't dominate the interview in the end.

Shall we add criminal damage to the list of potential crimes here for that reason? I suspect it's probably the appropriate law because there have effectively had to be 'repairs' made to the building.

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 14/10/2024 16:56

They’d crowdfund for the bill. Unless that could be shown to break site guidelines.
