Wes is getting it in the neck online from the TRAs. He should stand firm.

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/07/12/labour-ban-puberty-blockers-permanently-trans-stance/

"A ban on puberty blockers could be made permanentt_ as the Labour party takes a harder stance on transgender issues, The Telegraph can reveal.
Wes Streeting, the Health Secretary, intends to stop powerful hormone blockerss_ being given to children via any means, subject to the outcome of a legal hearing.
Laws to ban the blockers being supplied to children by private or off-shore clinics were passed by his predecessor, Victoria Atkins, in emergency legislation ahead of the general election.
These are due to expire on Sept 3 and the new Government has to decide whether to pass a law to make it permanent.._
It is understood that Labour will now seek to renew the ban with a view to making it permanent."

I’ve always liked Wes Streeting. Party leader of the future I think

The usual suspects frothing and screaming gibberish. Every time I see Monty's accusations and distortions I truly wonder how the fuck such an individual retains their job. (Works with DH - and is as quiet as a lamb in the office apparently, away from the keyboard warrior-ing)

That's interesting, I'd assumed Monty was unemployed with the amount of time he spends ranting online. What's his job?

Talkinpeace · 12/07/2024 18:55

I saw Wes interviewed just before the election was called.
There are clear blink and micro expressions when people saying what they know to be untrue
I'd say he peaked fully in about April

He now wants to protect gay boys and lesbian girls
GOOD

Really wants to know what is day job is !!

But now, according to Good Law Project director Jo Maugham, Streeting has indicated that the ban will be maintained and made permanent under the new Labour government.

So an individual hoping to advance their court case has spread rumours to advance their case.

its one thing Pink News making it out to be more than one opinionated man' s opinion, but surprised the Telegraph fell for it.

All that is happening is whether or not before the Summer Recess the temporary ban will be extended for another period.

HoC doesn't resit properly until October.

Oh Monty's very up front about it. On pretty much every one of the SM profiles somewhere, or in posts and on YouTube, in interviews etc

Signalbox · 12/07/2024 19:09

This is great news if it happens.

How does this advance JM's case? It doesn't. And Parliament is scheduled to sit again from 2 Sept. Wes can do this then - before party conference season. Atkins laid a statutory instrument. It's made negative, which is quick isn't it?

IwantToRetire · 12/07/2024 19:19

How does this advance JM's case?

On the existing thread about this, someone posted that if they win the case then it would presumably mean that for a Minister to then continue the temporary ban would be open to ....

So, maybe not so much when the HoC next sits re extending temporary ban (although it would be more appropriate to report to other MPs), but for the long term.

The posters on Reddit are taking this in their usual calm, considered response I see

BreadInCaptivity · 12/07/2024 19:37

Streeting is smart and ambitious as hell.

This is a calculated decision as was his backing of Cass and reversal of position.

The fact he sees not backing Cass as untenable is very telling.

He's a man playing a long game here and has aspirations for the top job - he's decided what the right side of history is and as a pp commented I'll bet he's keen to get cracking on this to leave the fallout from law suits/not acting sooner on the Tories.

He also holds quite a lot of influence in the party as a future/current star who others want to hitch their wagon to.

It will be interesting how much his stance on health impacts education. It's not a good look for Labour if the approach is contradictory. If you say you accept Cass then supporting social transition in schools (especially without parental knowledge) just isn't a position that holds water.

That's very good news. And signs that the transactivist grip on labour may not be as firm as we feared. Well done Wes Streeting - stand firm. You've got millions of us behind you.

It never was. Labour just needed to tread carefully because it was an election and they needed to win it. People were frothing unnecessarily

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 12/07/2024 19:40

Wow, I feel like the black cloud of terror might be disappearing, even if women still have to fight the good fight to the end of time, if we've managed to save the children from monsters this will be a good, good day. 😁🤞🙏

Without a ready supply of young recruits - the demands for adult Self Id dwindles too....

We need to watch very carefully what goes on with/in the two new child gender identity clinics, which I believe will be in London and in Liverpool.

Good, hopefully the majority of kids can now just grow out of it without any permanent damage.

I don't think so.

It's brilliant that Labour have drawn a line on clinical malpractice relating to children. Post Cass I don't believe they could reasonably do anything else and as a PP said hopefully sensible schools guidance flows from this because it would be strange for the two things to contradict.

They will want to give trans activists something in my opinion and it will be a portion of women's rights that will be sacrificed for this.

Some of those comments are completely deranged. I hope it opens some labour members eyes to the truth about both sides being toxic. I'll also be very relieved if the ban becomes permanent.

The subtext of some comments include threats of violence against Streeting. I very much hope that Streeting, and by implication, Starmer read those comments and bloody stop with the ‘’both sides’ comments. It’s only ever one side that frequently resorts to threats of violence.

Now is an excellent time to write calm, supportive messages to your new Labour MPs.

About to send this to mine, thought I'd post it in case anyone can see any glaring errors, I'm not someone who generally writes to MP's 😊

Dear XXXX,

my name is XXXXX and I live at XXXXXX which is within your constituency. I will lead with the fact that I did not vote for you at the recent election, I desperately wanted to and wrestled hard with my decision but in the end I felt I simply could not vote Labour this time. I am generally very much not a single issue voter but Labour's poor record on defending women's rights and safeguarding in recent years seems to me to be too fundamental an issue to ignore.

During the election campaign and since coming to power there have been some very encouraging signs that sanity is beginning to return to the Labour party. I was delighted to read today that you intend to renew the ban on prescribing puberty blockers to children for gender dysphoria and very much hope that will become permanent. I was also encouraged to hear the Prime Minister's recent comments on safe spaces for women, though with some reservations that he did not use the term 'single sex' which of course means biological sex rather than chosen gender, a fact which needs to be at the heart of all policies and laws in this area.

There is much work to do I realise, in this and all other areas but I am writing to ask for your support in ensuring women are centred when making/changing policy which affects our rights and freedoms. Women's voices have been silenced for too long on issues which impact us enormously and we need to ensure women are fully consulted and represented on matters which materially affect our lives or those of our children. Many women have lost faith in the Labour party because of their stance on gender ideology, I very much hope that faith can now begin to be rebuilt with a continued shift towards acknowledgment of women's reasonable concerns and objections and a sensible approach to solutions which are fair to everyone affected.

Women as a sex-class need certain rights and protections to enable us to participate fully in public life and those rights and protections are being eroded by gender ideology, as is the safeguarding of our children. We need the Labour party to step up now, acknowledge that we have legitimate concerns and create an environment where everyone's voices can he heard on this issue. I hope we can count on your support and that women will be able to vote Labour without reservation at the next election.

Yours Faithfully,
XXXXXXX

Nottingham continues completely unrepentant and unreserved about affirmation and CSHs without any therapy to explore underlying or co-morbidity issues.
