Interesting results coming through. It looks like all the tactical voting so that Labour doesnt have total power, payed off.
Its also possible that Labours larger gain was Scotland, the SNP are toast 😂

I grateful they are predicting the lib dems won't be the opposition, that would have been awful for women.

Can't wait to see which SNPs have lost their seats.

Nicola Sturgeon is a pundit on ITV if you want to watch her squirm.

If the exit polls are correct then it is significantly more than enough to form a majority government

GeorgeOrwellsTurningGrave · 04/07/2024 22:22

I wish I could feel happy about a Labour majority but I think we have very dark days ahead under Starmer and his bunch of anti-women extremists.

Signalbox · 04/07/2024 22:22

So heartening to see the SNP finally lose their grip on power.

I think there will be a lot of consultations to get involved in and court cases to support.

I don't trust Labour one bit, but at least they have to acknowledge that the issue does in fact 'come up on the doorstep' now.

Reform might have more MPs than the SNP after this. I know MSPs and MPs aren't the same, but its still a nice kick in the teeth for the rapist is a gender morons.

Yep, I am with you. I feel extremely despondent about the predicted results.

chilling19 · 04/07/2024 22:30

I wish I could cheer. Consoling myself with the hope that our public services will improve and resigned to carrying on fighting the gender crap.

Definitely, but its not as bad as many feared in terms of opposition.

It just feels wearisome now. I spoiled my ballot paper - I had nowhere to go. I just wrote “women do not have penises” across it. Not very erudite but I am fairly pissed off it needs saying at all.

Omlettes · 04/07/2024 22:35

lechiffre55 · 04/07/2024 22:17

Labour does have total power?

Ok I could have phrased that better, but there is still an opposition and its not the Lib Dems.

But we are in a very different place from a few years ago. Women are organised, we have formed groups (WRN and similar) and we have won court cases that protect our views and the right to express them. Starmer would have to go full Gilead to remove those rights and I should imagine he’s going to be a bit too busy for those luxury beliefs.

On top of all that, the Overton Window has shifted. Many people support GC views. We WILL carry on speaking out, we WILL defend our rights and - possibly most importantly - we WILL continue to fund and win court cases.

And…we have JKR.

LostittoBostik · 04/07/2024 22:36

Labour doesn't have total power?

Are you looking at the same poll?

All this stuff about the tories winning 40 seats was always nonsense. This is the landslide predicted

greengallbladder · 04/07/2024 22:36

Woohooo 🥳 hoping exit poll is a true reflection

If you read my other replies I said it was badly phrased. Many were expecting Torys to have significantly less seats and Lib dem to be the opposition.

RIP women's rights, in England at least. Be careful what you wish for.....

Awrite · 04/07/2024 22:41

I told my SNP candidate that this was the first time I hadn't voted SNP. Just wish she'd asked why. I guess she couldn't.

Always hubris before a downfall.

Omlettes · 04/07/2024 22:43

I'm quite new here and cant see a way to edit my original post, any tips appreciated?
When I say Labour dont have 'total power' I meant in the sense of no opposition, in otherwords Tories appear not to have totally collapsed, and the Lib Dems arent in opposition.
