This is the 2nd thread on that 2021 interview today. Has something specific happened to make it newsworthy?Confused

DomingoinLittleOakley · 28/06/2024 18:31

Apologies - it was sent to me by someone and I made an assumption it was much more recent.

This twitter account seems to be raking up various historic interviews and acting as if they are current. Also on an Angela Rayner thread.

Very odd

zibzibara · 28/06/2024 23:13

It's an old clip but not a bad thing to be reminded of how clueless these politicians are and how their misogynistic views are based on such garbled nonsensical misconceptions of reality.

Has David Lammy said since then "I was wrong"?

Has he said "I now understand that transwomen are biologically male and cannot have a cervix'?

And Angela Rayner has reiterated her stance recently, in March this year - "We have biological women and we have trans women. And they’re both women"
https://www.theguardian.com/global/2024/mar/23/angela-rayner-roots-rough-edges-ready-for-power

Do you have any evidence that she has changed her stance since?

The passage of time doesn't affect what he said, along with his calling women 'dinosaurs hording rights"
A timely reminder of how things might pan out if this gang of idiots win power 😬

It's not a bad thing to remind people of the misogynistic bollocks this man spouted.

Has dopey Dave said anything that suggests he no longer believes that a cervix is something that magically appears as one "becomes a woman"? If not then a week before a general election it is newsworthy that someone so ignorant is about to become a cabinet minister.

My point is why are people dragging up old interviews by Labour politicians and posting them as if they are recent with 5 days til an election?

Odd behaviour.

Does that go for the Tories who inflicted the trans shitshow on the UK? I mean who can forget Theresa May's policy of Self ID and the writing of genderwoo into a Maternity Bill. Not to mention successive TWAW Secretary of States for Education.😬

It's not odd, it's desperation and I love the smell of Tory desperation. Especially 5 days before an election.Grin

So we should forget about what the Lammysaur said in 2021 because its old, but we should remember what Theresa May did even though she was toppled as PM in 2019?
Edited due to my fat clumsy fingers

The interview is 3 years old. It's pretty current! But if you think that's historical, what's your opinion on Starmer constantly (and very misguidedly given the scandals and mismanagement) playing the DPP card?

Why do you feel it's Tory desperation to discuss statements from senior Labour politicians?

Not really odd is it? People should know that it they vote Labour this is the shit that they will be hearing on a regular basis.

ResisterOfTwaddleRex · 29/06/2024 07:50

Tell you what is weird. The RADIO SILENCE from Stonewall over all this.

"Have you noticed @keirstarmer using the term ‘protecting spaces for biological women’. That’s the kind of language that normally gets howls of derision from Stonewall and accusations of transphobia. Not a peep from the main trans rights groups. Silence.

What’s the deal here? Stonewall gives Starmer an easy ride so he can appease troublesome women voters and then it’s full steam ahead with the trans agenda once he’s in number 10?"

(And yes I'd like to know if Lammysaurus still hates women for wanting - gasp - our sex based rights!)

Who was in charge and pushed through the GRA?

Labour.

BippityBopper · 29/06/2024 07:52

Thinking another party will be better because they're keeping scthum or seemingly telling voters what they want to hear is very naive.

History has shown time and time again what the outcome can be. Lather, rinse, repeat.

So women who are concerned that there will be front benchers in the next government who think that women's rights are men's rights, that men can grow a cervix and that any one who complains about men muscling in to women's single sex spaces are rights hoarding dinosaurs...are just desperate Tories?

Ok then. 🙄

Igneococcus · 29/06/2024 07:54

I suspect if Labour would have been in government for the past decade we'd be now like Canada or NZ wrt trans issue, even worse if there'd be any LibDem or Greens involvement in government.

I can forgive a woeful grasp of human biology more easily than I can forgive him for saying that women who need single sex spaces are "dinosaurs who hoard rights" but to my knowledge he has not retracted or apologised for either statement.

As arguments go, I'm not sure that "even the party which is LEAST in thrall to gender ideology erased the word "woman" from information about maternity care, allowed gender identity theory to be taught in schools as though it were fact and put male rapists in women's prisons!" is a strong one, to be honest.

To me that's a strong argument in favour of NOT electing people who are even more mental about this stuff.
