Kemi really grinds the gears of many people to the extent that Labour is trying to encourage tactical voting in order to oust her from her relatively safe seat.
She's the woman who says what she thinks and says it convincingly - and people really don't like to hear an articulate and confident black woman airing views and positions they don't like. She's a major threat and they know it.

Kemi, that you?

inthetrenches1 · 25/06/2024 15:07

Teddleshon · 25/06/2024 14:09

@inthetrenches1 she’s my MP too and I couldn’t disagree more. Judging by her polling numbers locally I’m not alone.

She got parachuted into a safe seat. Uttlesford, much like Brentwood and Witham, have always been a hugely safe blue seat. They could put a potato up for candidacy and people would’ve ticked blue at the ballot box. She is dreadful. I guess it depends what your priorities are. I hope she gets voted out onto her arse

NiceCutRoundDomeDormice · 25/06/2024 15:08

Soontobe60 · 25/06/2024 15:02

When hes telling her to shut up and that she shouldnt exist purely because she believes men cannot change sex, then thats a whole other story!

She’s a senior politician. She chose to put her head above the parapet. Would you be boo-hooing if someone had said this to Michael Gove or Jeremy Hunt?

You can’t be putting yourself forward to be Prime Minister one minute and then crying you're a poor helpless oppressed little thing the next.

Runsyd · 25/06/2024 15:11

She'd swallow him whole in an actual debate. He's a trumped up little actor, and she's a cognitive Goliath who eats gender-wanging idiots for breakfast.

Hippyhippybake · 25/06/2024 15:11

@NiceCutRoundDomeDormice when has she been crying that she is poor helpless or oppressed?

motheronthedancefloor · 25/06/2024 15:12

I like DT as an actor, I don't like him as a person, he's much worse since he married the very irritating Georgia (yes I've met her).

UtilitarianNameChange · 25/06/2024 15:13

Funny how the how ‘lefty-beardy-men-with-white-privilege-need-to-sit-down-and-listen-to-black-women’ thing falls apart as soon as a black woman says something the beardy-woke-bloke doesn’t agree with, innit?

ScrollingLeaves · 25/06/2024 15:18

In his British LGBT Awards speech, David continued: ‘However, until we wake up and Kemi Badenoch doesn’t exist anymore… I don’t wish ill of her, I just wish her to shut up.In his British LGBT Awards speech, David continued: ‘However, until we wake up and Kemi Badenoch doesn’t exist anymore… I don’t wish ill of her, I just wish her to shut up.

Right to exist’ ‘Extinguishing a trans person’s right to existence
How often is that transactivist phrase reiterated whenever anyone expresses a concern about a policy regarding gender that might harm woman and children?

Kemi Badenoch’s right to exist, however, evidently does not count.

Since when is it all right for a public figure to stand up at an awards ceremony and feel it is justified to speak of any of anyone in these terms, let alone a public servant?

It looks like incitement and hate speech.

Or would Kier Starmer prefer to call it,
Toxcity on both sides of the debate”?

And why? Because she is intelligent enough to understand the Equality Act, see its limitations in protecting women as intended, and try to set about making it work, in practice, just as it was intended to - indeed as Sir Kier himself maintains it does already work!

But of course we know the more likely truth, that it suits KS that doesn’t work.

Otherwise he too would need to worry about being denounced by David Tenant.

Billyballyboo · 25/06/2024 13:58

I thought we'd moved on from privileged white men telling black women to shut up.

Is the fact that she is black relevant here? I am assuming that whoever was in her role/espoused her views would receive the same ire from him?

Pancakefam · 25/06/2024 15:25

He sounds like he doesn't like her politics. He even says he doesn't wish her any harm. I'm quite sure white male politicians get told to shut up frequently

GiveMeSpanakopita · 25/06/2024 15:25

Just like She Who Must Always Be Read, Andrea Dworkin, said: woke progressive leftist men and right wing ultraconservative fire n brimstone Christian men are two cheeks of the same misogynist arse.

That's not an exact (or even close) approximation of her words in her numerous insightful essays on this subject but you get the drift of her argument

Foe some reason I've always had a very good inbuilt radar for woke progressive seeming men who use that stance to cover up their inner narcissistic misogyny. I had Tennant pegged from the moment he came to my notice.

I don't think she's ever claimed that she's a "poor little thing". Do you have any evidence for this?

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 25/06/2024 14:29

This is one of the strangest comments I've read on here. A feminist ??

That is being sarcastic.

He is a ‘gentle’ man but really apparently full of misogyny and anger.

GiveMeSpanakopita · 25/06/2024 15:27

flyingbuttress43 · 25/06/2024 13:41

Clearly the "empathy and understanding" his brilliant wife educated him about does not extend to women. He said everyone should live the life they want "as long as they are not hurting anyone else." Obviously the "anyone else" does not include women in toilets, changing rooms, refuges, hospitals, jails, sports....The guy is really stupid isn't he?

Everyone's individual choices affect their immediate circle, wider community and ultimately society as a whole.

Those who believe that this is not true are usually neoliberal hypercapitalist folks insulated from societal consequences by their wealth and resources

UpThePankhurst · 25/06/2024 15:27

I wonder how many lesbian, gay and bisexual people would wish David Tennant would stop trying to use them as a weapon to dismantle women's rights and equality in law?

Particularly the lesbian and bisexual women.

Jungkooky · 25/06/2024 15:28

Used to be a huge fan.

Happy now though that the dc have decided that their favourite doctor is Matt Smith and will only rewatch his episodes 😁

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 25/06/2024 15:28

But it's so annoying when a woman who knows exactly what she's talking about insists on telling a man who doesn't.

Kemi Badenoch has a fanclub of gay men for her stance against transitioning children. David Tennant also has a fanclub of gay men... for reasons other than his political acumen.

Brukli · 25/06/2024 15:28

I’m not a Tory and I disagree with pretty much everything Kemi B stands for politically, with the exception of her stance on sex-based rights,

However, regardless of all that, I wish dopey actors would shut the F up. Not interested in what they think.

EdithStourton · 25/06/2024 15:28

I never understand why actors, artists etc spouting off about politics are taken so seriously. They can say what they would do without ever being held to account ("Ha! You're in power now! Make it happen!') and they are quite often pig ignorant about the topic in question.

And telling anyone to shut up is just bloody rude.

GiveMeSpanakopita · 25/06/2024 15:29

Kemi reminds Labour and the Left that they only like 'minorities' as long as minorities are singing the Labour script and obediently voting for them.

For a similar example of this, see the Democrats' responses to the large and growing proportion of Black and Hispanic Trump supporters.

Thepurplecar · 25/06/2024 15:30

His job is to speak other people's words. He should stick to the scripts. When he allows his own words to spill out, he reveals the same repugnant views that some men have held for millennia.

RoyalCorgi · 25/06/2024 15:31

The irony of the fact that he starred in a play about the rise of Nazism...

Edited

Personally think part of the reason she grinds many people's gears is because she's not being the 'right sort' of black woman, and because she espouses views that apparently mean she isn't "really black" - because black people are all supposed to naturally align with the left or with Labour. She knows about Critical Race Theory but she doesn't buy it. That is not permissible, apparently

Me too (hashtag optional). But what is it about him? When all around me women were going dewy about those big brown eyes, I thought - but they are dead. There's no humanity in them.

What did your radar pick up? It intrigues me.

UpThePankhurst · 25/06/2024 15:31

That. ^^

They are all for multi culturalism, religious tolerance, disability inclusion and feminism until it gets in the way of a bloke's absolute freedom of self expression and other needs.

Then you realise these are not truly held values, and just how very, very shallow, performative and hypocritical it all is.
