Heat and light, ffs!

irishmurdoch · 26/06/2024 21:37

Especially despicable considering there are two MPs who no longer exist because certain nutjobs didn't agree with them

I'm still reading p3 of this thread... has the way Mr Tennant set his wife up been discussed as yet?

It has been touched on but I feel it deserves further comment.

By crediting her "education" of him for his adoption of woke views, he can later blame her if when it all backfires.

There's a reason why the First Rule is at the top of the list: it's the most commonly-observed one.

The Rules of Misogyny

#12. Women’s ability to recognize male behavior patterns is misandry

There is a difference, though, between critiquing someone views and making personal attacks based on the fact you don't agree with those views. Kemi seems to get a lot of the latter.“

As do DT and his family on this thread. The outrage about personal attacks seems to work just one way on this board.

No one has said that DT and his family shouldn't exist. Quite a few people have expressed concern for the wellbeing of one of the Tennant children.

The "both sides are as bad" argument doesn't apply here.

Thought I’d find out more about this story so I clicked on this Guardian article.
I have never read such a huge quantity of hateful comments about anyone in my life. (TBH though I don’t go on sports sections or reddit so maybe this is normal now?)

I genuinely think now that if someone was physically violent against her there would be an outpouring of joy and elation from Labour supporters.

David Tennant should have been more respectful when criticising Badenoch over LGBT views, says Starmer – as it happened

‘I think it’s right that we have these robust discussions, but we must do it respectfully,’ Starmer said

I thought they were great. I particularly liked this one:

He's not criticising you because you're a black woman Kemi. He's criticising you because you're an arsehole.

Well I’m not surprised that comment section is particularly grim wrt a black female politician

They're obviously all dreadful wacists. I wouldn't take a peek outside your echo chamber. You'll find out that she's not all that popular. Yeah I know! They're all woman hating wacists. They can't see Kemi for the cognitive Goliath she truly is.

‘Wacist’

🤔

UtilitarianNameChange · 26/06/2024 22:36

Being ‘unpopular’ doesn’t justify calling someone an ‘arsehole’.

And it certainly doesn’t display a wit so sparkling it needs copy-pasting from The Guardian to Mumsnet.

Thelnebriati · 26/06/2024 22:36

She's the Minister for Women and Equalities and thats why he targeted her. While Tennant thinks its OK to wear a T-shirt that says 'you'll have to go through me' he doesn't think women should have the same protection.

INeedAPensieve · 26/06/2024 22:41

Well that's solidified my decision to stop reading and buying the Guardian. Bloody hell those comments!!! 😳 I reported one as it said that they would have gone much further than what David Tennant did and it was definitely hateful and incitement to violence. Doubt the moderators will take it down though. This was my paper for years and years and years.

Jeez it's just so depressing. How are they any different to the Daily Mail????

They identify as The Goodies. It's amazing what you can give yourself permission to do when you know you're one of The Goodies.

How long I wonder will it take before the scales fall and they all finally realise how they are coming across?

lcakethereforeIam · 26/06/2024 22:48

I bloody loved the Goodies, used to like the Guardian too. You used to get intelligent and interesting comments from the readers. If that's the standard nowadays I can see why they rarely allow comments. I'm embarrassed for them.

Incidentally, did you notice at the start of the Daily T segment on DT, in the background they were playing 'Man, I feel like a woman' 😃

The Daily Mail is nothing like The Guardian, it has the highest % of female readers of ant paper, and takes it's reporting on women's issues really seriously, and has done so for decades.

lcakethereforeIam · 26/06/2024 23:16

Daily Telegraph has done a little biography

www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2024/06/26/david-tennant-kemi-badenoch-trans-row/

https://archive.ph/EYNix if you want to read it, you'll have to go through the paywall

It says he has 'the courage of his convictions'. But really, how much courage does it take to espouse those fashionable beliefs in the circles he moves in? Courage would have been him saying (while accepting his award perhaps), something nice about JKR. Even prefacing it with 'I don't agree with her but...', he'd see those cheers turn to boos and jeers. Let's see him wear an adult human female t shirt in public, just briefly. Or, in his podcast, invite someone from LGB Alliance for a chat. Acknowledge that the Cass report need taking seriously? Nah, never happen, he doesn't have the bottle.

I don't understand what makes actors so bloody well qualified to comment.

Who are they really? just grown ups who make a living playing dress up.

If people stopped treating them like they were gods, maybe the ignorant little fuckers would stop behaving as if they are the fount of all knowledge, graciously bestowing it from on high on the poor little mortals who toil in the sun.

Being grown ups who make a living playing dress up makes them the same as the men they're so eager to defend, doesn't it ...
