Dawn Butler has tweeted that she agrees with David Tennant.

And yet Starmer is trying to tell us women are safe with Labour. Everyone goes on about Sunak not having control over his Tory candidates, but never question Labour's disarray. Or is it just because it is only a problem for women.

Tennant can by all means disagree with Badenoch but his personal attack on her was out of order and I’m glad to see Sunak defending her swiftly and publicly. Perhaps Keir might learn from Sunak how it’s done.

Is "shut up" the new #nodebate? I've heard it quite a bit recently.

I actually don't read the wishing KB not to exist as wanting her dead, so much as a wish for a kind of alternate reality where people he thinks are "bad" don't exist. Imagining that seems a big part of the left worldview.

But I also think all this language of "existence" is interesting. It's huge around identity politics in general, but I don't remember people ever talking like that before. "We have a right to exist" "don't Denny that trans people exist" "black bodies can exist in this space" "Queer people exist, get over it."

I'm not sure where this came from originally, or why it resonates so much with identitarian progressives; it sounds ridiculous to me. But it does seem to drive some of the thinking on the left now so maybe is worth unpacking a bit?

I read it that deep down the tras, the people caught up in this lunacy know that for what it is and, harking back to the HJ that was linked up thread, we burst their illusion. They know it's ridiculous but they can bury it, except we keep making them face it. If only we'd stop, go away, disappear, these fools could live in such a paradise. I don’t think he wishes her dead (necessarily), and certainly didn’t mean it as a threat, BUT telling women to shut up has been central to this campaign.

’No Debate’. Women are ‘transphobic’ for wanting to discuss or negotiate the areas where biological sex does matter and women only spaces do matter.

I don’t agree with KB’s politics and I hate her party. But she is doing the job she has taken on, defending women - only spaces.

And whether I agree with her or not, telling her to ‘shut up’ is an assault on democracy. People have a right to do their job, state their opinion, express their view, and let voters know what they are voting for.

Telling people to shut up, cancel culture, no platform, no debate… be careful what you wish for Mr Actor Man because the arts are not the arts without free expression.

As do DT and his family on this thread. The outrage about personal attacks seems to work just one way on this board.

Part of it I think is childish thinking and rhetoric along the lines of 'I can do whatever I want, you can't stop me, so there'.

The other part seems to be driven by a strange mix of insecurity and vanity that means you need everyone to see you as you see yourself and reflect that back to you in the precise manner of your choosing.

Life isn't like the though. Other people see us through their eyes not ours and we can't do anything about that.

How many women have heard that “shut up!”command followed by a blow, when expressing things men don’t want to hear?
It is very wrong of DT to say that alongside statements of ceasing to exist that also convey a thread. Many TRAs use that claim about ‘existence’ as if not following their ideology is what they used to call ‘literal violence’.
They see our refusal to suspend belief as a personal attack and I wonder how long their distorted life vision is going to last? Why do I have to get along with the very insane manners this late misogynistic colonisation is taken?
