Agree. But lets not lose sight of the context: he's an influential man. An influential man who has sway over young people. And influential man who happens to be rich. And, I'll take the observations of people who've met him here, an influential man who is deeply vain so won't be thinking of others (not even his poor son)

That this ridiculous man is listened to is disturbing. That this ridiculous man is abusing his male child to bolster himself is despicable.

In the long run, however he will likely be alive long enough to see what happens when you drive head first over the cliff of stupidity, with your child in the passenger seat. And I honestly don't wish that on anyone.

Why none of these activists can't think beyond what they support now, amazes me.

Anecdotally, from my 16 year old son the generation below the 25-35 are far less enamoured with the trans rights movement than the ones before. A group of girls in his school socially transitioned at the age of 13, but once one person in their group left, they have now all changed back. None of them are bothered about pronouns. Luckily, they weren't shoved enthusiastically down a medical pathway by their parents or paraded in public. The tide is turning on this, and Tennant and his mates will have to face up to what they have said and done. But they probably won't.

What's the difference therefore in this statement to the one made by the Tory donor about Diane Abbott. Will he be vilified and cancelled, or does that only apply to right wing donors. Tennant gets a by because he is a leftie luvvie?

He definitely got the tone wrong but I agree that Kemi B is dreadful and I too would be pleased never to hear her opinions again.
This is not a racist attack though - it’s an attack on her views which is valid. The language was wrong though and I hope he apologises.

I loathe a lot of what KB has said and stands for: the fact that on extreme gender ideology she is sensible is as unremarkable as agreeing with a far right-winger that the sky is very blue this morning. She comes at this issue from a different direction from me (I assume) and for different reasons - courting the conservative family values part of the electorate and her party being the main one.

But. There is something really distasteful about a privileged man telling a woman to shut up. More so when it's a black woman in politics (I know KB comes from a very privileged background herself but we are kidding ourselves if we pretend it isn't double the struggle to get to that sort of position if you're a woman AND black). To say - even if he could discount it as a figure of speech - that actually he'd rather she didn't exist at all, is appalling. He needs to step back and take a look at what he's saying.

I think whatever is going on with one of his children is something he should be keeping private and in the family, given the age of the child. If it really IS the 9 year old, then by now and at this stage, post-Cass, surely most sensible parents would be thinking very carefully about how to proceed? His 9 year old may not thank him and Georgia Tennant for all this enthusiastic flag-waving and cookie-scoring when they're a bit older.

I've already answered the question. As you were.

Support for leaving the European Convention on Human Rights, for one. It's just extraordinary that any government minister should support our leaving the convention we were largely responsible for bringing into being. The sheer dishonesty involved in doing this just because the European Court might rightly find the Rwanda legislation to be contrary to convention rights is mind-blowing. It also has serious implications for women's rights.

How patronising. Just because the majority on this thread have an opinion that you don't share, doesn't mean posters aren't thinking for themselves.

A man singled out a woman and stated he wants her to 'not exist' anymore because she has different opinions and politics to him. His mask slipped and people are obviously going to react to that, it just won't all be fawning and applause he desperately craves.
