Absolutely disgusted with him. MP’s have been murdered and attacked. To say what he said about anyone in public office is irresponsible and shows a lack of intelligence. By all means challenge others on views you disagree with but his language imo goes beyond what is acceptable.

There's no intelligent argument about why only she should shut up. Diane Abbott was targeted earlier this year and now Kemi.

Yes.

elgreco · 26/06/2024 07:50

He just received an award, he should have been pleasant and grateful.

If he wanted to make a stand a general " I hate all the bad folx" would have done.

Picking on Kemi specifically looks bad as does the " wishing she doesn't exist".

Exhibiting his child is abusive, that boy will have no comeback.

Violetparis · 26/06/2024 07:51

I think Kemi is playing identity politics to beat those who loudly advocate for it at their own game. Good on her.

Shortshriftandlethal · 26/06/2024 07:52

Equanimitas · 25/06/2024 21:03

To be fair, Kemi Badenoch has been a thoroughly incompetent Minister with some very unpleasantly bigoted views on immigration. He's not the only one who's had more than enough of her.

I suspect it is more the fact that as Minister for Women and Equalities - she has taken actions, and made statements, which support women's sex based rights and protections, and has also drawn attention to the findings of the Cass Review. After all Tennant said these things at a LGBTQ+ event, didn't he?

A lot of people really want the Cass Review to die a death too....as it very inconveniently reveals the real life realities and consequences of young people being swept up into genderism

Rightsraptor · 26/06/2024 07:58

Tennant has just made a big mistake, though he doesn't know it yet. He probably hasn't grasped how partisan that particular audience was but I think he'll be finding out.

It's like a watching a pack of hyenas on this thread. Do any of you think for yourselves?

(have none of you ever told someone to shut up before.....?)

His ability to chant out the trans propaganda has been recognised and they've given him a little award!
It's only encouraged him and he is going to come out with a lot more little nasty thoughts about women who disagree with him.

Is that what it was for?

I thought it was because he was the best lesbian in the UK or something.

MaidOfAle · 25/06/2024 21:49

What, that white men turned up and replaced the existing indigenous rulers whilst day-to-day life went largely unchanged for the majority of people?

Yes, Kemi has made the point that colonialism was basically the same as the Normans turning up to England in 1066 and replacing the Saxon earls with Norman earls. And she's right, right down to the Harrying of the North retribution against rebels.

How dare a Black woman born in a formerly-colonised nation understand history and be able to pattern-match! ⬅ sarcasm

Yep, or the Scots turning up from Scandinavia and colonising the native Picts (albeit they gradually harried the Picts out of existence other than to the highlands).

Violetparis · 26/06/2024 08:11

Dawn Butler has tweeted that she agrees with David Tennant. Wonder if this is going to get more media coverage now a Labour MP has got involved.

Have I ever told a woman who’s intent on protecting the rights of women and girls to shut up for expressing that intent?

No, never. Have you?

DramaLlamaBangBang · 26/06/2024 08:13

Not in a public forum and I didn't add ' I can't wait for them not to exist' which can only mean one thing.

We're disecting stupidity.....that's our task.

illinivich · 26/06/2024 08:14

TRA might be a broad church, but wealthly or middle aged blokes are the ones who get a disproportionate amount of attention, so its increasingly looking like a rights movement lead by men telling women to shut up and accept their demands.

"until we wake up and Kemi Badenoch doesn’t exist anymore…" is reflecting TRA language, when they accuse anyone talking about safeguarding as denying their existence and wanting them dead. Its obviously language he's used to hearing, says in his personal life and knows it would resonate with the audience.

Of course she does......she was also rejecting the Cass Review the moment it was discussed in the House - and had to be reprimanded.

Im sure ive told lots of people to shut up.

Never as a man telling a government minister to shut up about womens rights and child safeguarding, though.

OK but in Dawn Butler we are tlaking about a person who once said in the house of commons that a baby is born wihtout a sex but has a 'gendered soul'.

This is an elected representative who is trusted to legislate on our behalf despite....not knowing how human reproduction works.

For this reason alone all Dawn Butler pronouncements should be met simply with an eye roll, or a sardonic laugh if you're feeling up to it.

And had to apologise for misleading the House.

DramaLlamaBangBang · 26/06/2024 08:23

He has daughters and a wife. It’s a shame he doesn’t see them as ‘skin in the game’ - the ‘game’ of protecting their safety and dignity
As with most of these trans right celebs, they think/expect that their own daughters are protected by the cushion of money. Not for them a women's refuge, a mixed sex school with boys in their changing rooms, a homeless shelter or rape crisis centre or prison. They can virtue signal away knowing that them giving away other peoples rights won't affect them or their children in the same way as it will poor women and especially poor people from minority groups, some of whom will feel unable to access care because of fear of a male bodied person in vulnerable spaces. Tennant is a rare State School educated working/lower middle class actor, so I would have thought he'd have a bit of insight, but no.

ArabellaScott · 26/06/2024 08:25

CantDealwithChristmas · 26/06/2024 08:10

The Scotti were Gaels from Ireland. There was incursion from Scandinavia, too.

And had to apologise for misleading the House.

Then blamed Stonewall for misleading her. She is the one who should ' shut up' about this, as she made such a monumental tit of herself over this whenever she opens her mouth she should be embarrassed.

INeedAPensieve · 26/06/2024 08:29

I wonder if David Tennant will try and minimise what he said and give a non-apology apology or will double down? I suspect the latter. Neither options address the real issue though; that a man feels it's his right to wish a female out of existence on a public platform (as well as wanting her to shut up) because he disagrees with her views on safeguarding women and children. Such a batshit sign of our times!!!

As I said at the beginning of the thread, it's chilling and a reminder that misogyny comes from the political Left just as much as the Right. As a mother of two male DCs I wish we could have a Western modern society where misogyny no longer existed. I doubt it will ever ever happen though.
