She's going after the club and the coppers. The article spells out very clearly why

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/06/08/gender-critical-newcastle-fan-linzi-smith-sues-police/

I think I recall previous mentions of this case.

For some reason I was able to read the article and the comments (the selection I saw were all supportive) without archive. There were mentions and a link for the Crowdfunder in the comments. If anyone else feels moved to donate remember you can remove the garnish that Crowdfunder takes for itself.

I think the case she's pursuing against the Police is important. I don't believe they should be perceived as taking sides. Handing out pronoun badges ffs!

Gan on Linzi! The police can hadaway an shite

MrsOvertonsWindow · 08/06/2024 19:22

Good for her! Yet another court case to fund as we try to bring back democracy, women's rights and free speech to society.

Lovelyview · 08/06/2024 19:25

Great! I need to keep notes on what crowdfunders I've donated to. I think I've already donated to Linzi but I'll check. It's great that she's going after the police too.

HoneyButterPopcorn · 08/06/2024 20:04

Reminds me of my grandma. You won’t mess with her.

MuddlingMackem · 08/06/2024 20:06

I've been following this on Twitter. It's insane what the club have done.

Valeriekat · 09/06/2024 22:24

They do seem to go after Lesbian Women don't they?

NitroNine · 10/06/2024 00:07

Bend it like Beckham round the paywall

Glad she’s taking action, she’s been treated appallingly.

GennyLec · 10/06/2024 00:13

Thanks for the Beckham bend past the paywall.

From the article:

''Explaining the significance of the case, Paul Conrathe, the solicitor representing Ms Smith, said: “This legal action could set a precedent that Pride and its associated rainbow symbols and flags are political.
“They represent support for highly controversial and contested gender ideology – the belief that a person can have a gender that is different to their biological sex.
“By marching at Pride, wearing rainbow lanyards and driving rainbow painted police cars the police have plainly breached their statutory duty of impartiality.
“As the coercive arm of the state it is chilling that the police should take sides in a highly controversial political debate.” ''

Blimey. This might be another Maya level outcome.

NitroNine · 10/06/2024 10:23

@GennyLec no worries: archives = my natural habitat, even virtual ones 😁

Definitely, I have noticed this too. The very existence of lesbians seems to piss off a certain kind of man

From what I've seen online, many of the men targeting Linzi very much seem to fit that profile. They're not the obvious trans supporters. It looks to me that they just don't like her because they've had rows with her online and are using this as an excuse.

Does sound like it could be really significant, doesn't it?
I'm going to contribute.

FrancescaContini · 10/06/2024 13:08

What her solicitor says:

By marching at Pride, wearing rainbow lanyards and driving rainbow painted police cars (FFS), the police have plainly breached their statutory duty of impartiality.

Yes, of course they have. Nobody working in public services whose salary is paid for from taxpayers’ money should wear anything rainbow related. Handing out “preferred pronoun badges” at Pride!!!

Can anyone please give a hint on how to donate to Linzi’s legal costs? What a fabulous woman, standing up to these bullies ❤️

Google Linzi Smith Crowdfund and it is the first site returned.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 10/06/2024 13:36

Thanks for this. As a Newcastle United fan (and GC feminist) I'll be donating.

I certainly don't give the club my money any more.

Also, as an ex copper with Northumbria Police, I'm happy to contribute to them getting their arses handed to them on a plate.

FrancescaContini · 10/06/2024 13:43

Thank you @JanesLittleGirl Will definitely do this.

benid · 10/06/2024 13:51

Thanks for sharing. from the comments - "football clubs should not spy on their law-abiding fans" .. hear hear!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/06/2024 13:55

These men are like turkeys voting for Christmas because I highly doubt they have never uttered anything that might fall foul of this type of wrongthink monitoring, even just as a joke.

HoneyButterPopcorn · 11/06/2024 09:08

Yea but that’s just bantz with the boyz though isn’t it?

Needmoresleep · 11/06/2024 12:28

I think it shows that football clubs have not taken on board or understood the need to stamp out homophobia.

Women's football is very accepting of lesbians. In contrast vanishingly few male footballers have come out as gay. Rather than work to create more accepting environments within their clubs they simply import Rainbow laces type schemes from the FA, complete with Stonewall's trans agenda.

The club I follow seems to finally have dropped having children stand at the side of the pitch waving trans flags. The irony was huge. Not only does belief in gender ideology tend to steer kids towards dysphoria rather that accept they mught just be gay, but allowing males bodies into women's teams is a huge threat to the women's game. No doubt, like many national organisations, the FA is captured, but Eddie Howe is an intelligent and thoughtful man. He could do better.

IwantToRetire · 08/12/2024 01:16

She is now going to sue the FA.

The Football Association is facing legal action over its Rainbow Laces campaign with claims the annual show of support for the LGBTQ+ community breaches the governing body’s ban on political messaging.
Newcastle United fan Linzi Smith is planning to sue the FA, claiming the wearing of rainbow armbands and laces on the pitch effectively endorses the contested notion of gender ideology. This is the belief that a person can have a gender that is different to their biological sex.

In a letter of action to the FA setting out the basis of her claim, Ms Smith’s lawyers, SinclairsLaw, state: “The Football Association has acted unlawfully by encouraging, authorising, or directing players in the Premier League to wear equipment including boot laces and armbands in rainbow colours during the ‘Rainbow Laces’ campaign.

“Such equipment is prohibited under the [FA] rules as constituting or conveying a political message, statement or image, including because it demonstrates support for a contested political viewpoint, namely that gender ideology should be accepted and influence policy or law-making.”

Or is this not new. Hard to tell from other threads. Confused

lcakethereforeIam · 08/12/2024 09:54

I think it's new. The stuff about the rainbow armbands only happened recently.

the contested notion of gender ideology. This is the belief that a person can have a gender that is different to their biological sex.

I think the contested bit is that anyone should prioritise the idea of gender over the fact of sex.
