Sinèad Watson was detained for tweeting

Just seen this by Sinèad's lawyer. Don't know anymore than this, sounds par for the course unfortunately.

Someone at @PSOSGreaterGlas needs to answer for the absurd, inhumane protocols you have set up. You need a complete policy revamp and whoever came up with your current procedures needs to be fired.

Sinèad Watson was detained for tweeting, for speech. For typing characters into a text box. Her phone was taken. She was arrested. She was handcuffed. She was put in a dirty cell. She was not given feminine products and made to sit in her own menstrual blood for 3 hours.

For what? She is under suspicion of "malicious communication online." Not a violent crime. Not a crime that has anything to do with the content of her cell phone. All of Sinead's purportedly illegal tweets are/were public at the time of her arrest. There is NOTHING on her cell phone that has anything to do with them. This is a violation of her privacy to embark on a fishing expedition for unrelated evidence.

Put aside the obvious free speech violation, because I get that not every country feels the same way (but it is a violation of her God-given rights to charge her with this absurd thought crime). Even IF you believe that tweets are illegal, the way she was handled and processed is completely unnecessary, unsafe, and dehumanizing.

Someone needs to lose their job. Sinèad is owed a massive public apology for what happened to her at a BARE minimum.

inciting hate? like being photographed in front of signs that say "decapitate terfs" that type of hate?

No, silly billy!

Decapitate terf signs are fine.
'Kill JK Rowling' signs are not hate.
Tweeting your fantasy of kidnapping 3 women in a van is just satire.
A uni student tweeting photos posing with guns and listing the 'terfs' he's going to kill is all good, because the guns are just replicas. Probably.
Telling a crowd 'if you see a terf, punch her in the fucking face' through a megaphone is not inciting violence against women.
Spitting in a woman's face because she's trying to watch a feminist film is acceptable.
Punching a woman in the head because she attended a meeting is just peaceful protest.
There's no problem with a sex offender getting his erect knob out in front of women and girls in the Spa, and the women and kids just shouldn't look if they get upset that easily, and anyway they're probably lying because that would never happen.

No, it's a woman tweeting naughty swears like 'pussy ass cunt' and not being very nice about the police who left her to sit in blood for 3 hours that crosses the line and has them KO'd on the fainting couch.

Who, anywhere, has said any of that's ok?!
I know I haven't.
I definitely don't think any of that is fine.

@Brefugee, there are hateful "memes" doing the rounds on twitter including one what's presumably an offensive caricature of a trans woman who is being hanged with the caption "pronouns: was/been". There's definitely an increase of that sort of thing since it was bought by Elon Musk. Any opinion on that?

@Helleofabore, "reported sex offender", you mean the who had a sexual assault conviction in 1997 was it? Why is an almost 3-decades old sexual assault conviction still news today?

A week ago there was an article about a neo-Nazi who was arrested on CP charges (rather ironically, he protested drag queen story times claiming he cared about the children). Why don't I hear JK Rowling or people with gender critical views call out and condone this sort of thing if the main focus is the safety of women and children? Why continue to focus on trans people who have very historic convictions? Are crimes only important when they are committed by a trans person?

https://www.yahoo.com/news/member-neo-nazi-anti-drag-150506618.html

Did you think as you typed this?

Do you think that a sex offender ceases to become a sex offender because of three decades? And you are posting this on a feminist board.

CP? You mean child sex abuse ? There is no such thing as 'child porn'. Are you sure you have any understanding of feminism?

What the fuck has this person got to do with feminists? Or are you so deep in your entrenched prejudice around this board that you think that any person who protests drag is in any way aligned with feminists campaigning to prioritise sex over gender where sex matters and to ensure the highest safeguarding for children.

Good to know your views. I think it is great that you are here telling readers what you believe and just who you support. Thanks.

Helleofabore · 07/06/2024 15:02

And great to know that you fully understood just who you were posting about on that thread that you resurrected.

That you fully believe that after 3 decades a sex offender should be some how be considered not a sex offender.

Peskysquirrel · 07/06/2024 15:02

Who, anywhere, has said any of that's ok?!

I definitely don't think any of that is fine.

It was prompted by your "inciting hate" dig at women.
Just after you wrote "So what did she tweet?"
You don't even know what she tweeted, you probably haven't even heard of her before today.
@yourhairiswinterfire is illustrating what "inciting hate" really means

borntobequiet · 07/06/2024 15:16

That poor young woman. I didn’t know about her until now. She has been let down and hurt by all those who should have helped her, and is now being punished as well.
I can’t believe anyone can think this is OK or that she deserves it. Unless they’re the same sort of people who damaged her in the first place. In my view those people are criminals and should face severe consequences for their actions.

I'll reserve judgement on that as you were perfectly happy to deride and further dehumanise a woman left sitting in a Police cell in her own menstrual blood for three hours after being denied sanitary products, what was your sneering comment again? I recall the words poor, ickle victim in it. @GoodAfternoonGoodEveningAndGoodnight

And what heinous crime has this woman committed? Has she launched an unprovoked vicious physical attack on someone like this lovely soul did?:

Convicted trans sex offender is jailed for two years

Louise Thomas, 24, admitted assault causing actual bodily harm on Tilly Lloyd-Jones on a canal path in the Newtown area.

Sounds like someone has copied the long established "respect my pronouns or yours will be was/were" meme that TRAs have been using for ages.

Is there any evidence for the allegations being made against the police on her twitter? Have the police seen what's being posted on there about them?

According to the Scotsman part of Marion Millar's charges were for "disclosing false information" about an officer. We don't know if SW's allegations are true or not but if not it could potentially be a crime.

<a class="break-all" href="https://web.archive.org/web/20231101130335/www.scotsman.com/news/crime/scots-woman-accused-of-sending-homophobic-and-transphobic-tweets-3365741" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://web.archive.org/web/20231101130335/www.scotsman.com/news/crime/scots-woman-accused-of-sending-homophobic-and-transphobic-tweets-3365741

Gosh.... what an interesting post about Marion Millar.

Someone seems to have a very good memory about Marion.

Blimey. Who curls up in front of the fire on a chilly winter's night and does that cross stitch?

Well, well, well.

They can dish it out but they sure as hell can't take it.

GailBlancheViola · 07/06/2024 16:14

Except for the fact the entire case against Marion was dismissed.

Most likely. Under that search you will find cats with knifes, robots with guns, people with various weapons, various hanging toys etc.

I wonder whether the creator of a horrible meme of a hanging male trans person though was a feminist? Apparently, we have to be responsible for all abusive and horrific content posted that is targeting trans people.

Yet, this same poster cannot see the extreme trans activist activity that abuses and targets female people, defends a reported sex offender (well actually tells us that the person in question was a sex offender in their own post) and calls horrific child sex abuse material 'child porn'.

The hypocrisy of their posts fly right over their head it seems.

This really seems to be reminiscent of posters who declared water and cream pies in the face were 'just jokes' and that a 'decapitate terfs' sign wasn't serious at all.

yourhairiswinterfire · 07/06/2024 16:16

Who, anywhere, has said any of that's ok?!

I'm not talking about you specifically, just pointing out the double standards of ''trans rights'' activists, what they'll defend when it's their 'side' and what they get performatively outraged over and consider 'inciting hatred' when it's women they hate. And they absolutely did defend all of those hateful incidents I listed, on the threads about them here and on Twitter.

Do you really not remember the posters (and twitter TRAs and the Guardian) calling the Wi Spa victims liars and then scarpering when the perp was identified as a serial sex offender?

Did you miss our lovely resident TRAs gloating about KJK being attacked by a mob that looked like a zombie herd and an elderly woman being repeatedly punched in the face in New Zealand? Saying that she was asking for it?

The posters that say JKR should just stop having opinions if she doesn't want to be threatened with kidnap, rape, death etc?

I'm just saying it's pathetic that some will defend sex offenders, support inciting violence if it's against certain women, will celebrate women actually being assaulted, but then run snivelling to the police if a woman hurts their feelings on the internet.

GailBlancheViola · 07/06/2024 16:23

Add to that yourhairiswinterfire the poster on here who defended an abuser of JKR because JKR committed the horrendous act of correctly sexing said abuser as male.

GailBlancheViola · 07/06/2024 16:28

This really seems to be reminiscent of posters who declared water and cream pies in the face were 'just jokes' and that a 'decapitate terfs' sign wasn't serious at all.

Not just defending and excusing them they positively salivated over them and were full of unbridled glee at the tomato soup attack on KJK.

Felix or Mavis Wilton.

There were other posters who had a particular interest in Marion Millar. And some posters who also liked to blame feminists for all negative things about trans people without ever considering the abuse that was targeting women. Some declared a 'decapitate terfs' sign as not serious, cream pies and water in the face as 'just a joke'.

I don't think anyone should be sending hateful memes. But you TRAs have no high ground there. You have been utterly vile for around a decade i think.

Exactly what I was thinking Boiled Beetle. It's an uncannily similar attitude to dear Felix.
