I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a lefty purge going on. I keep hearing people like Alastair Campbell saying that KS is more ruthless than people realise, perhaps he is!

BezMills · 30/05/2024 07:35

The arcane machinations of the PLP are very hard to scry. My guess, it's nothing at all to do with FWR or KJK.
Labour stuff

I complained to Labour about him regarding his behaviour in the Hiuse when Miriam Cates was speaking. He is absolutely dreadful and I’m glad to hear this.

So did I. I wrote a long letter to Kier Starmer disclosing how triggering that was to me personally, and sent it to his Westminster office recorded delivery.

I wonder how many other women did and if it had a cumulative effect?

Maybe a complaint has emerged in line with the sentiments in ours that tipped the balance in legal terms. I would like to think my letter is part of a dossier of supporting evidence against him.

I rather hope that's the case. I wonder if we'll find out...

This is when they should have suspended him, when he showed his megalomania.

I think we can assume the allegation is very serious and seen to be a threat to Labours campaign for them to do this just

Yes....

The problem with this kind of assumption is that in theory its very easy to suspend someone based on "allegations" and people will assume they are serious so it becomes an easy way to smear someone. The same way I used to think it must take a lot to get banned from Twitter, but X person was so they must have said something really dreadful. Hmmm. The best thing would be if a suspension happened and everyone reserved judgement until more details came out. That's not how people work though.

So even though I am enjoying the schadenfreude I also hope (in a weird way) the allegations are at least serious enough to justify a suspension as otherwise it says worrying things about Labour. But I also hope they aren't that serious as that would mean someone could have been hurt in some way. hmmm.

SinnerBoy · 30/05/2024 07:54

Mussolini made the trains run on time, so it's not as clear cut as saying he's just an all round terrible person.

(I'm not actually comparing Russel-Moyle to Mussolini).

Igmum · 30/05/2024 08:07

Just heard this on R4 and came on to see the discussion (after saying 'YES!' a few times obvs Grin). Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

EasternStandard · 30/05/2024 08:15

Bit of a mess this morning generally

It was me !!!! I am in a close by (and will be closely contested) seat and I told the Labour Stooge that canvassed on Saturday morning that I was a one issue voter and that I couldn’t vote Labour until they protected safe spaces for biological women.

he said he would make a note and pass it on.

Manifestation baby !

Thank you @mountaingoatsarehairy ❤️

Brefugee · 30/05/2024 08:42

NiceNiche · 29/05/2024 18:29

Well he is one of the reasons I feel unable to vote Labour. The behaviour of his researcher but particularly LRM in the commons was appalling and as far as I am aware was considered unworthy of any disciplinary measures. As far as I’m concerned a Parliament without that vile man can only be a good thing.

By the way, has anyone else noticed that he now sits as close as he possibly can to Rosie Duffield in the Commons? Even when there are rows of empty benches, he’s right in front of her.

his behaviour is appalling. That time he went over to sit and stare at Miriam Cates was appalling. He should have been suspended for that alone: going over to the other benches to harass a woman MP who had been speaking about women's rights? bloody Norah the bar is very high to get rid of some of them.

LunaNorth · 30/05/2024 08:45

Good. I’m glad to see the back of the spittle-flecked loon.

WomensRightsRenegade · 30/05/2024 08:53

I’m confused. I was sure he’d said a while back he was leaving parliament at the next election anyway?

CantDealwithChristmas · 30/05/2024 08:57

Theyhadsomehoneyandplentyofmoney · 29/05/2024 19:17

It sounds like there is clear evidence. They wouldn’t have suspended him without it.

Agreed. Everyone seems to be assuming that the complaint is politically motivated and a stitch up to get him out. People seem strangely unwilling to believe that the complainant could be a genuine person acting in good faith and coming forward alleging a very serious action by LRM.

This is why victims often take years to come forwards - they know they will be blamed and disbelieved.

I don’t doubt the allegation is genuine- he’s such a piece of shit I’d be amazed if there weren’t allegations- but I wonder if it was “filed away” for the optimum moment.

Keir pretty much knows he’s got this election so now he can drain the swamp and the people that might kick off about it know that if they torpedo him now it just hands the Tories a gift horse. Also- it’s only 5 weeks to the election so it doesn’t give a lot of time for it to fester.

StainlessSteelMouse · 30/05/2024 09:20

Filing away allegations for when they might be useful is how whips and party fixers work. Michael Dobbs did not invent Francis Urquhart out of whole cloth, and the Labour Party doesn't work like an HR department, much as it likes to pretend it does.

I don't think LRM should have been an MP in the first place - Brighton councillor is about his level - but the timing is very interesting. If you're on the Labour left today then your best bet is to do a Rebecca Long-Bailey and stay very quiet in the hope that they'll forget about you.

BackToLurk · 30/05/2024 09:31

LRM was pretty close to Sam Tarry who got his seat when the (less left wing) favourite for it was suspended the day before the selection meeting, by the then Corbyn led party. So you know. Boo hoo

Or because of the vociferousness of his social media TRA fanbase. Interestingly if you have a skeleton in the closet, that can be a motivation for people to cover themselves in a 'social justice' (as student types regard it) issue as armour plating (think of the 1970s and charity marathons). It's odd that a gay male MP should be pushing so fervently for a homophobic fad that is sending a generation of gay youths to surgeons to be made 'straight', but trans activists make a useful and very loud stockade wall.

That's exactly what you're doing! Let's try to be sensible here, otherwise we're doing the same as TRAs who call us Nazis because we happen to agree with some right wing politicians on this one single issue.

Lots of people living in fuel poverty view LRM's work as valuable and important. He should have been sanctioned over his behaviour re Miriam Cates and wasn't. Presumably because he is popular in Brighton and the wider party and respected for the work he does. (Oh and because Labour has a women problem obvs!)

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. As someone said above, it definitely feels like a purge of Corbynites.

This is a really, really important point and I can think of a few of the more vociferous social justice/TRA warriors out there right now who are actively doing this.

That what's his name MP that's come out as trans was coincidentally in hot water for a serious driving offence...

Jamie Wallis, STBXMP for Bridgend. Well, when he crashed his Mercedes and ran off he was wearing a black leather mini-skirt, high heels, a pearl necklace and make-up.

I suppose he could have said he'd been to a fancy dress party, but I imagine he thought that saying he was trans was a better get-out-of-jail-free card. Which, TBF, history tells us it is.

No, I was using hyperbole to take the piss. So he's done some good things, do they outweigh the bad? I mean, Sure Start was excellent, but does that outweigh helping to start an illegal war?

Oh dear. How sad. Never mind

This was my first response when hearing it on the news last night whilst immediately thinking of you lot!

Good. He was awful trying to intimidate women in Parliament .
