Interesting. I'm very curious as to what has precipitated this action at this time.

AGlinnerOfHope · 29/05/2024 19:38

Is this the recent policy being voted on about suspending MPs accused of various offences?

It is concerning that anyone can be suspended as a result of allegations- less so where someone else can do their job. Serious when a constituency loses it's representation as a result.

Ecstaticmotion · 29/05/2024 19:41

Could you share what you mean about the behaviour of his researcher? He's had a few so I'm not sure which one you mean. Lansman?

duc748 · 29/05/2024 19:42

He's still an MP, though. Hs constituents aren't being denied representation.

Carly May Kavanagh. Screams at babies. Nice person. Not.

There’s a theme here isn’t there.

Well he is one of the reasons I feel unable to vote Labour. The behaviour of his researcher but particularly LRM in the commons was appalling and as far as I am aware was considered unworthy of any disciplinary measures. As far as I’m concerned a Parliament without that vile man can only be a good thing.

By the way, has anyone else noticed that he now sits as close as he possibly can to Rosie Duffield in the Commons? Even when there are rows of empty benches, he’s right in front of her.

She should've put chewing gum in his hair.

The Labour Party won't want a repeat of Rochdale, having to suspend a candidate once they're on the ballot. There are rumours that there will be more suspensions between now and the deadline for candidates to be confirmed. It looks a lot like the party is getting rid of some of the looser canons.. I feel like I may have underestimated Starmer. He's possibly more ruthless than he appeared.

endofthelinefinally · 29/05/2024 20:11

Does that mean Labour will field another candidate in Brighton?

CaptainCarrotsBigSword · 29/05/2024 20:15

Hopefully he will be kicked out permanently, but I am suspicious of the timing. I wonder if labour are trying to stop the KJK bomb going off in debates and LRM will slither back in after the election.

Yes. The timing is odd.

mountaingoatsarehairy · 29/05/2024 20:24

It was me !!!! I am in a close by (and will be closely contested) seat and I told the Labour Stooge that canvassed on Saturday morning that I was a one issue voter and that I couldn’t vote Labour until they protected safe spaces for biological women.

he said he would make a note and pass it on.

Manifestation baby !

I've run out of words to describe this odious obnoxious snivelling cretinous Arsehole of a man so I'll just do a little happy dance!

Good lord. He can't stand. There will be another candidate. They can't just swap him back in later. Doubt it's got anything to do with KJK.

Tunnocks and a bottle of your choice to @mountaingoatsarehairy!

SofaThrow · 29/05/2024 20:28

What will KJK do now?

BezMills · 29/05/2024 20:29

If he truly wishes to serve his community, he should stand as an independent.

MaySheWillStayRestingInMyArmsAgain · 29/05/2024 20:35

I've been working day and night since the election was called for success not only in Brighton Kemptown & Peacehaven but across Sussex. Yesterday…..

What, working night and day for almost one whole week, then?

Oh dear. How sad. Never mind.

mirax · 29/05/2024 20:50

BackToLurk · 29/05/2024 19:19

No he hasn’t. He’s been suspended from the party. He sits as an independent MP until parliament is dissolved

Strange how simple facts such as these escape those minded to conspiracy thinking. The constituency hasnt lost its MP. If Labour declines to select him as a candidate again, he can stand as an independent candidate.

FOJN · 29/05/2024 20:54

DialSquare · 29/05/2024 18:59

Hmmmmmm. Do you think it's because Labour know that he wouldn't be able hold his temper against KJK?

It's why KJK chose his constituency to stand IMO. He's an awful man but I'm quite disappointed to be deprived of seeing him lose his shit with KJK during the election campaign. It would have been a very entertaining episode in Operation Let Them Speak.

I'm torn between being jubilant about him being suspended (don't give a flying fuck if he's being stitched up he should have been suspended a long time ago) and sad KJK won't get to trigger a temper tantrum from him!

Oddy enough I heard some political journalist say something very similar this morning @BackToLurk whilst discussing how the political journalists tend to 'know' politicians better than the public. I certainly don't think you would have had the career he had, whilst being anything other than ruthless ?

IceQueenoftheWest · 29/05/2024 21:40

StripedPiggy · 29/05/2024 19:11

I’m certainly no fan of LRM, but this sets a very dangerous precedent for our democracy. A sitting MP has effectively been removed from the job to which he was democratically elected because of untested allegations which he denies. Whatever he is alleged to have done, he is entitled to due process and the presumption of innocence.

Anyone who supports his suspension should be very careful what they wish for. Malicious, politically motivated allegations can be made against your allies as well as your opponents.

This. I detest LRM but this is not a democratic way to behave - let us decide!
