Found this thread that mentions Grave concerns and calls Sarah's campaign wishy washy.

It doesn't look like supporting the rape crisis case will be her priority in Brighton.

It would be a shame if the fact that women disagree over the best strategy for securing single sex rape crisis services, was turned into a stick to beat KJK with by our own side.

Helleofabore · 24/05/2024 10:36

Thanks.

Do you think she has a point?

She does.

Sarah’s is looking to win a battle, KJK is looking to win the war.

Floisme · 24/05/2024 10:45

BettyFilous · 24/05/2024 10:35

If she unseats KS the others are even worse!

She wouldn't have unseated him, we all know that. But by forcing a discussion and by asking him the questions that there's every likelihood nobody else will ask, she might just have succeeded in ensuring that no-one voting for Starmer, or his party (which by the way could potentially include me) would have been able to delude themselves about exactly what they were voting for.

Helleofabore · 24/05/2024 10:47

Commenting bluntly on whether a case goes far enough now at this time when the movement has achieved so much, is not necessarily ‘not supporting’ the case. It is making the point that the female single sex groups are the priority not an after thought.

I'm not on twatter so can only see

Her case has raised £95k. I have grave concerns at what good it will do

is there something in that that say i will not support this case? Or is she just saying exactly as above?

TheRozzers · 24/05/2024 10:59

How do you win the war if you don't support the women doing the battles?

Some women have concerns that Sarah's case is not the best strategy and will entrench mixed sex provision.

It would be better all round if Posie and the Brighton Soc Fems were allowed to agree to differ on this case for the time being.

Is KJK's position that there should be no mixed-sex provisions?

In Brighton Kemptown, probably one of the most friendly trans places in the country! Interesting to see if she will even keep her deposit….

If you are looking to win the war you will be careful which precise battles you fight and how you fight them to achieve the overarching aim. Winning a battle and moving forward in one place could leave you wasting effort defending a position that doesn’t help in the long run.

I think I have done enough with that metaphor now.

Probably not but I doubt she actually wants to be their MP. She just wants to be a thorn in the side of the awful current MP. Which I'm totally on board with because his treatment of women including his peers is contemptible.

I suspect that is why she chose it.

Slightly disappointed she's not going up against Keir Starmer, I have to say, but am sure she has a good reason for this decision.

Yes. Probably the reason is that Starmer is a very experienced barrister so going up against him in a debate would be very high risk and not likely to go in her favour.

It also makes her appear politically motivated rather than motivated by protecting women.

LRM is a much better choice- she will be hoping he will act like Harrop.

I was looking forward to watching her debate with someone who acts like an adult so I'm a bit sad.

Is LRM definitely standing?

EasternStandard · 24/05/2024 11:45

The barrister thing is funny. He gets so nervous he stumbles over basic things

He also isn’t great at speaking on this topic

I’m not sure KJK would be up against him anyway

Datun · 24/05/2024 11:56

Boiledbeetle · 24/05/2024 07:52

I just can't help but think of what he did in Parliament that day whenever I hear him and see him.

Everything about this man makes my flesh crawl. Just hearing his voice makes me want to scrub myself raw in a scalding hot shower just to wash the mere thought of him off me.

He is one of the most misinformed, obnoxious, cretinous, unenlightened, imbecilic, nescient wankers out there.

I don't know how she is going to bear being in the same room as him.

Me neither.

And he will be underestimating her for sure.

Why dont you ask her this yourself?

Oh, is she on this thread?

I'd assumed someone who is, might know.

princessleah1 · 24/05/2024 13:00

As a Brighton resident this makes my heart sink. Hopefully she'll run a good campaign and avoid the fiasco that happened at her LWS event.

Kemp Town constituency was Conservative from 2010 until LRM took it. The boundary covers a large area, not just Kemp Town.

ArabellaScott · 24/05/2024 13:02

The fiasco of having LRM's staffers shout at a baby? That's not up to KJK.

princessleah1 · 24/05/2024 13:12

I understand its not up to her. However, if her campaign is run like the LWS events it will go the same way as it did before in Brighton. Lloyd will be able to score easy points from it.
I worry that her style is to stir up trouble and then milk it. Its unpleasant.

Floisme · 24/05/2024 13:15

How about LRM and his staff learn to control their tempers? Then no-one would be able to stir up anything?

This is what happened in Brighton.

KJK didn't cause this. I don't see how LRM could 'score points' if his aides and supporters start calling babies fascists again.

Fascist! Labour MP's aide screams at father holding baby

Carly-May Kavanagh, a policy caseworker in the House of Commons for Brighton MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle, is shown in footage with another woman in Brighton.

Considering Cavanagh was on Russel-Moyle's staff, or had been, I think it is really quite enlightening for people to see what happened in Brighton.

What points will he be able to score though?

What trouble did she 'stir up'? How did she stir up trouble? By just turning up? Isn't this the same trouble that the Lesbian Project 'stirred' up, and that FILIA 'stirred up', that the women meeting in Grenfell to discuss strategy 'stirred up'?

Or is the issue the people who are so totalitarian and so authoritarian that they cannot allow a group of people they disagree with meet in public?
