I find there are also many posters who make many non sequiturs and statements that don't say much but it's easy to scroll past

EasternStandard · 01/06/2024 12:51

Scroll past my posts?

Sounds good to me 🙌

EffieeBriest · 01/06/2024 12:51

@AdamRyan exactly. If it was purely about publicity she’d be standing against a Tory trans MP like Jamie Wallace or Penny Mordant who is TWAW. Mordant is a potential future leader of the Tories so a ‘big beast’ and likely to get a lot of coverage if her vote is eaten into. But no, it’s all about taking on Labour and threatening the seats of feminist female MPs.

EffieeBriest · 01/06/2024 12:52

@adam ah yes cryptic bland posts.

Jamie Wallace isn't standing, thank the lord.

illinivich · 01/06/2024 13:04

It makes more sense in this election to stand against a prominent labour mp than a conservative one.

Stella and Starmer would be good, but so is Jess. Shes a weather vain - she worked towards getting gender reassignment replaced by gender identity, and to remove the spouses exit clause, when those were popular within the labour party,

Theres a good chance that anything she says reflects labour policy rather than fringe views.

AdamRyan · 01/06/2024 13:05

There is a huge list of MPs that would be a better choice than JP, which is why I believe this is about clicks and "I never lose" rather than raising the issue. Its all about socials rather than real life.

Mind you I'm not sure whether she can change now because she's already listed on the ballot in Kempstown

thatsthewayitis · 01/06/2024 13:06

I agree, KJK is very shrewd at PR, really brilliant at it and I for one happily support her making politicians answer about single-sex women's spaces, not Keir's fudging 'safe spaces'

She can withdraw and stand somewhere else. I guess we have to assume that there will be other PoW candidates standing against those other Mps, and there was no local candidate for Birmingham Yardley. Or Brighton. Or Holborn when she was considering there.

She has the ability to get the media airtime and is upfront with no waffle

Not many could do TV as effortlessly as that

I wouldn't say her snafu last week about trans people being lazy was great PR tbh. Or her ranting on her latest video about how her followers aren't putting themselves forwards as candidates.
I think its all unravelling for her a bit.

BezMills · 01/06/2024 13:21

She is a Stone Cold Legend.

I am looking forward to seeing her during the campaign

EffieeBriest · 01/06/2024 13:29

@illinivich who’s made a mess of the country ? You’re letting tories off the hook for merely jumping on the bandwagon and looking for a diversion tactic in the face of losing huge numbers of votes. Their sincerity about this is questionable. Why would KJK want to do this to Jess Phillips who’s a feminist.

EffieeBriest · 01/06/2024 13:33

She’s never on TV or radio is she though ? Just SM. She’s a loose cannon. Too risky.
So in that sense I wouldn’t say she was that astute. Most people don’t have a clue who she is.

BackToLurk · 01/06/2024 13:43

There's a difference between being good at PR and being politically astute. Although obviously you can be both. Given we knew there was going to be a GE this year and she appears to be struggling for candidates, I suppose the question might be "should the party have been formed earlier to have given them a few local election cycles". If it ends up just KJK and a handful of other candidates it could give the impression that this is a very niche issue.

There's also clearly an issue with Gaza, which will inevitably be a massive focus in many constituencies, particularly where the Workers Party stand, plus the resurgence of Reform uk. They're both going to competing for coverage and are much bigger.

TERFCat · 01/06/2024 14:05

Even if JP has done her fair share for women's rights (I think she's been more of a help than a hinder an e personally, but hey ho), ALL politicians should be ready to be challenged on this issue. Policy making is literally their job!

Thats why i was critising the tories when they were trying to bring in self id, letting men onto female wards, letting gender ideology into schools...

What was the labour leadership saying at the time? They were saying they support self id, that men are women. Rather than critise self id, jess was working towards making gender identity a protected characteristic. Rather than looking at how GRA negatively inpacts on woman and children, she stated that the exit clause was wrong.

Are you suggesting that we can only critise gender ideology when under a conservative government? That gender ideology is good but the tories do it wrong?

Fariha31 · 01/06/2024 14:44

'Jess Philips is a feminist' If your defining feminist as dedicating your life to the advancement of one particular women - Jess herself -then yes, she certainly is a real feminist.😂

Needmoresleep · 01/06/2024 14:49

KJK's choice is starting to look like a good one, judging by the number of posters who seem disturbed by the idea of Jess being challenged on women's issues.

Ha. No doubt Jess will have no problem articulating what she believes and defending her views.

Edited

You think "Find choice weird" equals "disturbed by". M'ok.

How about amused by watching the pivots from "proposal to stand against Starmer is genius because he's the leader" through "standing against LRM is genius because he's a narky misogynist" to " standing against JP is genius because she's the wrong sort of feminist"

Needmoresleep · 01/06/2024 15:14

All three are true. She clearly reconsidered how to make the maximum impact, then LRM was withdrawn.

You clearly don't think much of KJK.

What are you doing to promote the rights of women?

Any of these three are fine

KJK does tend to put the spotlight on whichever one and she hasn’t really started yet

Now people are focusing on Phillips
