I think it's pretty obvious that LRM struggles to control his emotions.
The House of Commons incident, for example, seemed to strongly suggest a man temporarily on the edge of reason. Quite why the Deputy Speaker Dame Rosie Winterton didn't admonish him and make him return to the opposite benches, I would very much like to know. More trouble than it was worth (in her mind), perhaps? That's no way to run a parliament.
The MPs who assisted Cates btw way were Conservative MP Paul Bristow who moved down a row or two to sit next to Cates, and 'Father of the House' Peter Bottomley who was sitting in front of her. Peter Bottomley intervened, but Rosie Winterton remained wishy-washy; and Bristow made a Point of Order about LRM’s behaviour a few days later.
I suspect that LRM is a good 'mark' for a woman opponent able to appreciate who and what they are dealing with, if the woman's aim is to rattle and bring sunlight onto a particular mind-set.
