Just as the title says really! Is that your only thought about who you'll vote for, or will you look at wider policies? Been getting lots of information through my letter box recently, and none mention it.

"Presumably" is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

Where he said "There's a small number of people in this country who are born into a gender they don't identify with and they often go through pretty hellish abuse.

There is nothing wrong with this statement. Who you feel about your identity doesn't make you female.

Do you lot never get tired of gaslighting? There’s everything wrong with that statement. Whenever they are asked about women’s rights they always twist it round to focus on trans women and the non existent trans women murder epidemic 🙄

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 04/05/2024 12:59

Presumably he still considered that there is a small minority of non-biological women who have a penis?

There's no such thing as a 'non-biological' woman though.

maximum gaslighting here, you know exactly what that means. This is the usual twisted view that because we are biological beings then trans women are biological females, they are absolutely not. They are biological males and not females at all, and they never will be, no matter what they cut off or have surgically added. Natal women absolutely are biological women.

@Dineasair

So far I have quoted the Times, Telegraph, Independent and the Sun.

Fairly sure the Guardian and Mirror would have covered these stories but they'd be dismissed as leftist nonsense.

This is what Starmer actually said.

Not what you think he said, or surmise he meant.

You are spouting alarmist nonsense.

And have the cheek to accuse me of gaslighting.

I read the daily mail one but I don’t think it says what you think it says. I can’t access the others but I don’t think that they will contradict that one. He again goes on about people “being born in the wrong body” whatever the hell that even means. Who’s body have they got then? Who is walking around in the bodies that were supposed to be theirs? How did they get them?

Rosie Duffield told the Daily Mail on the 1st of May that Keir Starmer hasn’t even spoken to her let alone apologised for what the party he is leader of put her through. Why have Labour GC women been denied a stand at the party conference yet again? It’s just more smoke and mirrors.

No one is born in the wrong body, absolutely no one, and no women has ever had a penis and certainly not a functional one attached to a fully functioning male reproductive system, not one, not ever.

Purely? Of course not. So much needs fixing here and there is a genocide happening abroad which our government is supporting. But it has partially informed my vote. I'll be voting green for the first time as a lifelong labour voter.

Why would you vote Green over Labour?

Green are even worse on gender woo.

Exactly this. We can't bloody say anything about women's rights without it being twisted round to "trans people's rights" again.

I care a lot about lgbt people including transgender people, and labour does not mention them once in their manifesto

Go to their website and click 'Labour's Missions.' There is a document you can download stating their missions.

@AstonsDataThief

Can you point to where he rolled back.

He did not.

The article referred to something the previous year, which Starmer has since clarified his stance on repeatedly.

Here's what he actually said in the article, and not noted Tory Sun hacks spin on it.

Making an appearance on The Sun's new Never Mind the Ballots politics show, Sir Keir replied: "The whole issue here has to be treated with respect, respect and dignity. And the Labour Partyy_ has fought for women's rights all its life and will continue to do so."

Pressed on his U-turn on gender reform, the Labour leader pointed to what happened in Scotlandd_, before adding: "In the real world outside of politics when circumstances change, people adapt their position."
Asked again about his position on trans women and whether they can be defined as women, Sir Keir said: "We set out our position very clearly..."
He added: "Everybody knows there is a difference between sex and gender. I absolutely understand that and respect that. We will not be going down the road of self identification."

They are going done the road of easy to get Gender Recognition Certificates and the removal of the spousal clause. I think this has been explained with links on this thread already.

A GRC changes a person’s sex legally. More GRCs will mean a greater percentage of legal women (with penises).

@Polishedshoesalways

Where has Starmer said any of those things.

This is just scaremongering nonsense.

And yes I can have empathy for folks.

Do not put words in my mouth that this somehow means I would support putting rapists in a female prison.

You are making huge assumptions based on nothing.

What utter BS

Your empathy for rapists dressed as women is some fear misguided. Where is your wmpthy for the actual victims?

Starmer has openly said some women have penises.

Starmer supports trans rights not women’s rights.

He doesn’t even know what we are! Or why we need protection. The safety, identity and rights of 51% of the electorate he simply does not care about, at all. Why?

It covers the rights and safety of 37 million women - and yet he feels the right for men to dress as women -1% of the population trumps all else. And has not moved his position a millimetre in any meaningful way. He does not care about women - we get the message loud and ckear.

And you are going to vote for him, as a women apparently. More fool you. I hope you don’t have daughters.

Eminybob · 05/05/2024 06:33

Kind of. I'm not voting this time. I live in a vvv safe tory seat but have always turned up and voted Labour our if principal (except when I did a vote swap thing once)

So it makes sense to me to jut sit on my hand this time. Or maybe spoil my ballot but I don't know.

This is getting really fucking tiresome now.

Quoting an old story around which he has repeatedly said he has hardened his position is just low.

For the umpteenth time...

A woman is “an adult female”, Sir Keir Starmer has said, as he confirms the Labour Party's hardened stance on gender. The Labour leader said he did not believe the policy of self-identification was “the right way forward”, and that he believed that “the principle of safe spaces is very important for women”

Good thing women kept speaking up about what is impacting us

Even with the ‘no one cares’ posters on here

Still safe spaces is meaningless waffle and Starmer hasn’t clarified where will be single sex, so I wouldn’t fall for the Labour spin too much

Keir Starmer is the head of the party which introduced the concept of a male person being "legally female" and "female" being a "gender" so are we really supposed to trust that he means the same thing we do when he uses the word "female"?

He said 99.9% of women don't have a penis.

AhNowTed · 05/05/2024 10:02

@MissScarletInTheBallroom

That was in Scotland.

Later that day Starmer explained that the fierce row over gender recognition changes in Scotland had caused him to reflect. He criticised the “cavalier” approach of the Scottish government to introducing a system of self-identification for those who wish to change their legal sex, which was ultimately supported by a majority of MSPs from all five Holyrood parties.
