He said he apologises to people eating their breakfast'. Hmm

He is being questioned about his treatment of Rosie Duffield but he's not answered really and moved the convo swiftly to Brianna Ghey

Susannah said you told the MP Rosie Duffield that she is wrong to say only women have a cervix and he is again deflecting.

Says he believes in safe spaces for women.

Women's prisons? - deflects again to the NHS today. no answer to any direct questions.

Says again about safe spaces being important- but again deflecting and whittering about the constituion

SR asking for clarity- is it right or wrong for RD to say only women have a cervix - KS- she is biologically right. SR- should you apologise to her?
KS- deflects. Wants discussion. Not answering the question.

I'm giving up now. He can't even string a coherent sentence together. Keeps deflecting.

IMO of course.

Just started another thread saying same thing , he says what he thinks people want to hear and changes his stance depending on who he is talking to .

He's a politician so it kind of goes with the territory

They're so far in hock to noisy minority groups that he probably daren't say anything firm though - just hope that not enough people care about it to make a difference electorally

Polishedshoesalways · 30/04/2024 11:43

Rosie for PM!!

It's indicative of the tragedy happening in so many homes at the moment. All these girls (and some boys) believing the lie about changing sex with their parents veering from terror at the appalling outcomes for children and fear about being called a bigot and threatened with social services. The Social Work England response to the serious criticisms of them in the Rachel Meade case is an indication of how distorted values and ethics have become and how right parents are to be scared.

Managing this requires insight, confidence and the ability to prioritise the safety and welfare of children - not incoherence and weaponising a dreadful child murder as a shield to deflect from your own inadequate responses.

I know 🥺

They might as well put a suit and tie on a milk based dessert.

Come, come! That's a bit harsh, a blancmange is more likely to grow a backbone.

If a man can grow a cervix, then a blancmange can surely grow a backbone.

Oh, wait......

Vaccances · 30/04/2024 11:51

Just watched the inetrview.

He just said only biologically women have a cervix, fluffed the apology to Rosie D and tried to say he would try an treat trans people with dignity and respect.
Agreed that women should be treated in single sex wards.

What is everyone up in arms about?

Remember who has run down the NHS to such as extent that they can no longer offer enough space for women and that even their own former health minister resigned and went to Labour.

@MrsOvertonsWindow Whilst in many cases you re dead right, who has enabled this sorry state of affairs? clue its not Labour.

Dignity and privacy for women maybe. He’s utterly oblivious to this.

Clear language not bumbling around ‘safe spaces’

And why just wards?

CharlotteBog · 30/04/2024 12:02

I don't tend to get embroiled in these threads, just skim for the essense.

But this "If a man can grow a cervix, then a blancmange can surely grow a backbone." made me proper chuckle.

And yet he is going to destroy our rights - he is going to drag women back to the dark ages because he is not even acknowledging our biology correctly much less taking our rights seriously.

You might be grateful for crumbs but I expect better - I want at least to be represented by someone that recognises how important women’s rights are - and our unique vulnerability to the initimidation and bullying we are subjected to by men dressed as women, trying to erase our identity, dignity and legal protection entirely. I want a strong leader that is not afraid to tell the lobbyists that women will not be sacrificed. A person willing to take it on - but no, we have a jellied eel slipping all over the place with a fixed grin and a bloated and corrupt view of how women should step aside, shut up and be kind.

Hmmm well what a PP said is sounding more and more likely now! It appears to be the only likely reason that explains how evasive he is being about this, particularly post Cass. Like PP have said, if personal issues are clouding his judgement in this, he needs to declare his bias or step down as leader and focus on his family. He can't make policies to suit his own personal circumstances. Especially in light of Cass and all the other evidence that gender ideology is negatively impacting on women's rights and safeguarding.

Think you'll find that most of are in agreement about the Conservative's complete culpability for all this. But for those of us who are / were Labour voters, it's so disappointing to hear Starmer unable to address this. It should be easy - Cass has given HIM a get out clause:
"Given the revelations about the extent of unevidenced ,experimental medical treatment of children that has been influenced by political ideology rather than the medical standards of treatment that apply to all other child health care, we unhesitatingly support the recommendations in the Cass Report... etc etc'
He doesn't have to say sorry about his TWAW statements - Streeting has done that for him. He just has to acknowledge that this is a difficult issue with strong feelings but that politicians must recognise that there are competing rights that society needs to balance and that with greater awareness, information, our thinking has moved on.
Which is what Streeting is now saying - all credit to him.

I actually have more respect for the fully committed TRA zealots, like the Scottish Green nutjob who genuinely thinks 4 year olds know their gender identity.

I can't ever respect the insane Maggie Chapman I don't even think she truly respects herself; she is away in her own wee world of nonsense, but I do get your point. Basically that she is nailing her colours to the mast so we all know her position quite clearly (mental as it is). Keir though? Nope. Smarmy career politician who changes his stance as frequently as the wind changes direction.

At least you know what you are dealing with.
HOWEVER in Scotland, under our current Hate Crime laws, you cannot say anything about it.
Starmer is slippery but at least you can speak & write about it without fear of being accused of a Hate Crime (which, if you do not meet the threshold of, you can still unknowingly be recorded as committing a Non Hate Crime Incident which remains on record & will show on the Scottish equivalent of a DBA check)

Thegoodbadandugly · 30/04/2024 12:12

MrsOvertonsWindow · 30/04/2024 11:22

Rosie has been clear that Starmer hasn't spoken to her at all and never apologised for the dreadful bullying of her by labour party members / officials.

You are seriously taking stories off the daily fail? You do know papers make up all sorts of shyte?

Everanewbie · 30/04/2024 12:13

The problem here is that KS has pivoted on this subject as he started to see the wind changing. It's pretty inconvenient for him to have his previous quotes read back to him.

Do you think the Daily Mail is all lies and the Guardian all truth? Jeez. Starmer's snubbing of Rosie is a matter of record. It's her words, not the Mail's.

PoppySeedBagelRedux · 30/04/2024 09:02

People have suggested that one of his children may be trans identifying...

I haven’t heard this.

One of Neil Kinnock’s grandchildren is much older and is under the trans umbrella.

OpusGiemuJavlo · 30/04/2024 12:18

lifeturnsonadime · 30/04/2024 08:31

So even after Cass he STILL can't be clear.

And what the fuck is a safe space? What we need is single sex spaces for safety AND dignity.

As for the breakfast comment, ridiculous, women's rights shouldn't make a man squeamish.....

I think for Kier a "safe space" is a space for all females and any males who will promise cross-their-heart that they definitely aren't rapists, perverts or fettishists so any women can feel totally safe in their presence. Obviously as it's a safe space anyone using violent language against those males (such as pointing out that they are male) will be made to leave because that is the worst kind of violence.

MultiPolarista · 30/04/2024 12:19

Wherewerewerewear · 30/04/2024 09:54

I agree. It is inexplicable why he is so pro trans and anti women. If it’s true about his child, at least we have insight as to why.

If it’s true, I’d suggest he needs to stand down. As he’s not acting in the best interests of 51% of the U.K. population.

If it’s not true - what the hell is he playing at? It’s so bizarre that the more I think about it, it’s the only reason that can explain his actions.

The PMC (including intelligence services) at gung ho for this shit in a really crazed way, exactly why is a real mystery.
Its what they were taught at Uni? it is something 'progressive' without having to actually change anything? it undermines the family?

I'd love to know, I have a suspicion that if we knew the answer to this question we would be a lot wiser as to who or what controls our society (if anything does)

I doubt he has a trans kid though.

Thelnebriati · 30/04/2024 12:22

I don't believe they suddenly developed strong support for human rights. And that doesn't explain why its a sudden, Western-wide phenomenon, or why they are so lassaiz-faire about other actual threats to human rights such as incel ideology or male violence.

whistablenative · 30/04/2024 12:22

Wherewerewerewear · 30/04/2024 11:48

I know 🥺

It's even more batshit up in Scotland.
I can't vote SNP, or Green due to the Hate Crime bill (Labour also voted for this only the Scottish Tories voted against it but how the hell could I vote Tory? NO)

I was going to hold my nose & vote Labour but if KS is going to weaponise the murder of Brianna Ghey like this to avoid difficult qu's post Cass then I'm not sure I can vote for them either!

I may have to spoil my ballot for the first time ever.

Runor · 30/04/2024 12:22

I think Labour and the Tories have both been culpable on this topic, although I do think the Tories have done a better job than most left-wing administrations over the last few years (not great, but we’re not in the mess seen in eg Australia or Canada).

However, my vote is more about who I think will address this going forward. Wes Streeting is talking a good game, but Starmer seems to be showing where Labour’s true direction lies - not least because he obviously feels the need to conceal it.
