He said he apologises to people eating their breakfast'. Hmm

He is being questioned about his treatment of Rosie Duffield but he's not answered really and moved the convo swiftly to Brianna Ghey

Susannah said you told the MP Rosie Duffield that she is wrong to say only women have a cervix and he is again deflecting.

Says he believes in safe spaces for women.

Women's prisons? - deflects again to the NHS today. no answer to any direct questions.

Says again about safe spaces being important- but again deflecting and whittering about the constituion

SR asking for clarity- is it right or wrong for RD to say only women have a cervix - KS- she is biologically right. SR- should you apologise to her?
KS- deflects. Wants discussion. Not answering the question.

I'm giving up now. He can't even string a coherent sentence together. Keeps deflecting.

IMO of course.

Isn't Deflecting Questions part of Being An MP 101?

I haven’t heard this.

One of Neil Kinnock’s grandchildren is much older and is under the trans umbrella.

So is one of Ed Balls and Yvette Coopers children. She’s frontline

Definitely is. But he's not very good at that either!

I'm always surprised how bad he is at public speaking considering he's a lawyer. Especially PMQs.

Only if the politician doesn’t want to answer the question - which is exactly the point OP is making - KS is not willing to give his views openly

BonfireLady · 30/04/2024 12:30

For anyone who doesn't like Daily Mail articles (to be fair, I used to feel this way, until I saw their journalism on this subject e.g. Sanchez Manning) or have time to listen to the video I shared (which I still haven't watched), here's a tweet from Rosie explaining their current communication....

He really is making himself look completely untrustworthy. It's one thing avoiding a question - yes, standard MP behaviour - it's quite another to state something that isn't actually true.

Think you'll find that most of are in agreement about the Conservative's complete culpability for all this. But for those of us who are / were Labour voters, it's so disappointing to hear Starmer unable to address this. It should be easy - Cass has given HIM a get out clause:
"Given the revelations about the extent of unevidenced ,experimental medical treatment of children that has been influenced by political ideology rather than the medical standards of treatment that apply to all other child health care, we unhesitatingly support the recommendations in the Cass Report... etc etc'
He doesn't have to say sorry about his TWAW statements - Streeting has done that for him. He just has to acknowledge that this is a difficult issue with strong feelings but that politicians must recognise that there are competing rights that society needs to balance and that with greater awareness, information, our thinking has moved on.
Which is what Streeting is now saying - all credit to him.

TBF i'm not really a Starmer fan, bit too timid for my liking.

I see it as the lesser of 2 evils, if we don't support Labour but challenge whenever possible, like Rosie D is doing, then we WILL get another Tory Govt for the next 5 years.

Even the most ardent Tory must be disappointed at what they done to the UK over the last 14 years surely?

I will support Labour and will await their manifesto with interest.

WhatAreThey · 30/04/2024 12:33

Have they asked Sadiq Khan similar? I need to put in my postal votes today.

since when is cervix an offensive or breakfast off putting word.

But a positive is that Susannah and Richard were able to bring up the topic on mainstream breakfast TV. The Genie is out of the bottle. As for bringing Briannah into it, that was despicable and desperate.

Exactly.

It's a dirty, foul and desperate bid and it's absolutely despicable to use the absolutely horrific death of a youth who was the unfortunate victim of premeditated murder because the killers just wanted to know what its like to kill and had an obsession with other murderers.

He's absolutely slimy. If labour wanted my vote they'd get him out quick sharp.

I wish they would talk about the abysmal state of our hideously underfunded mental health services after what has happened in Hainault this morning. THAT is what they should be asking him about today.

BonfireLady · 30/04/2024 12:52

I've still not fully caught up on the full thread, but just to loop back on to the rumours about Keir's child being trans identified.

I would fully support any politician who wants to keep their children, and any information about their children, out of public view. However, if he does have a child who is identifying as transgender, it is in the public interest to understand if he is compromised.
At the very least there should be an internal investigation to understand the degree to which this is the case and he should then be forced to consider whether there is any viable way to mitigate the impact of this. If there isn't e.g. he ties himself in knots, which then leads to lying live on TV, to avoid conversations relating to sex and gender identity, it's questionable whether his position is tenable.
Obviously if he's not got a trans identified child, no issues.

Either way, given the importance of the Cass Report when it comes to ending the medical experimentation on children and young people, and how much more there is to do to keep children safe, I would like to see him put on the spot to explain how Labour will approach taking its recommendations in to both healthcare and education.

He’s an absolute shambles. Can’t answer questions properly. Won’t protect women’s rights as doesn’t know what a woman is. It’s the Darlington taxi driver interview car crash all over again.

Or he’ll spend a few mil on renaming it.,

It's even more batshit up in Scotland.
I can't vote SNP, or Green due to the Hate Crime bill (Labour also voted for this only the Scottish Tories voted against it but how the hell could I vote Tory? NO)

I was going to hold my nose & vote Labour but if KS is going to weaponise the murder of Brianna Ghey like this to avoid difficult qu's post Cass then I'm not sure I can vote for them either!

I may have to spoil my ballot for the first time ever.

I'm in Scotland too and same as you, I feel like there's no one I can vote for.

Snowypeaks · 30/04/2024 13:35

Well, Vaccances, all I can say is that I must have simply failed to notice Labour opposing the erosion of women's rights over the last 15 years, then - or perhaps mistook it for them enthusiastically cheering it on and excommunicating heretics. I clearly imagined putting men on all-women Labour shortlists, the championing of men in women's prisons and hospital wards, etc. The Tories did preside over it and went along with it until very recently, but please don't pretend Labour were not even keener. And still are.

KS is being asked about women. The fact that people can "acquire a gender" is irrelevant. We're not asking about legally acquired sex, we're asking about women. He knows what we mean and still deflects to legal sex.
That's why I can't trust him.

And I think he is a believer, unfortunately.

Yes I saw that, I'd replied to you as it seemed to back up what a PP had said as well. I hadn't heard that about his child before so it seemed a likely conclusion as to why he's been so shifty on this subject. I'm not sure what you said in your post that could have warranted deletion.

HelloWorld68 · 30/04/2024 13:37

Here's another body part for you Kier - arsehole.

Hahaha! Fantastic!

SpringLobelia · 30/04/2024 13:39

I'm not sure he is a believer. He was clearly a bit panicked when these questions came. He knows that whatever he says that isn't complete adherence to the cult could be the end of him as Leader. he was unconvincing- deflecting to a tragic murder- deflecting to how he was even as a boy interested in justice (or whatever it was he was crapping on about).

Slippery and shifty and such a huge disappointment.
