He said he apologises to people eating their breakfast'. Hmm

He is being questioned about his treatment of Rosie Duffield but he's not answered really and moved the convo swiftly to Brianna Ghey

Susannah said you told the MP Rosie Duffield that she is wrong to say only women have a cervix and he is again deflecting.

Says he believes in safe spaces for women.

Women's prisons? - deflects again to the NHS today. no answer to any direct questions.

Says again about safe spaces being important- but again deflecting and whittering about the constituion

SR asking for clarity- is it right or wrong for RD to say only women have a cervix - KS- she is biologically right. SR- should you apologise to her?
KS- deflects. Wants discussion. Not answering the question.

I'm giving up now. He can't even string a coherent sentence together. Keeps deflecting.

IMO of course.

I think he was apologising to people eating their breakfast because the word cervix was used- not 100% sure. (Was too busy trying to set the thread up!).

It will be on again on an hour on ITV + 1

He's such a slimy disappointment.

Peskysquirrel · 30/04/2024 08:30

Apologising for naming female body parts? Oh dear.

lifeturnsonadime · 30/04/2024 08:31

So even after Cass he STILL can't be clear.

And what the fuck is a safe space? What we need is single sex spaces for safety AND dignity.

As for the breakfast comment, ridiculous, women's rights shouldn't make a man squeamish.....

Apologising for naming female body parts? Oh dear.

I think that was the context- Richard M was quoting him when he said it's not right to say only women have a cervix. But I was not 100% on it at that point as starting the thread!

They might as well put a suit and tie on a milk based dessert.

yestheyhavethesamedad · 30/04/2024 08:32

Just started another thread saying same thing , he says what he thinks people want to hear and changes his stance depending on who he is talking to .

Cervixes put people off their breakfast? Grow up Keir. You sound like a sniggering 14 year old if you meant that.

EasternStandard · 30/04/2024 08:33

He can't even string a coherent sentence together. Keeps deflecting.

No he can’t you’re correct

FuzzyPuffling · 30/04/2024 08:34

My Labour MP showed up on my doorstep last week and asked if I had any burning questions for him I asked him "What is a woman?"

He looked surprised and a bit uncomfortable. He's youngish, gay and probably thinks I'm more concerned with potholes.

I got the "well 99% are biological, adult human females..." We then had a 20 minute discussion ( until his henchman led him away) about the erosion of women's rights, safe spaces and biology!

My best hope is that he now sees it important to voters.

Thinking of a bloke in a dress with his bits swinging about puts me off my breakfast Keir 🤬

DavidBattenburgh · 30/04/2024 08:35

But a positive is that Susannah and Richard were able to bring up the topic on mainstream breakfast TV. The Genie is out of the bottle. As for bringing Briannah into it, that was despicable and desperate.

INeedAPensieve · 30/04/2024 08:36

Yep he's definitely proving that despite the Cass report, despite what brave women like Rosie have been saying for ages, that he'd still rather pander to the TWAW crowd and that confirms to me that when Labour get in power (it seems inevitable) then England will unfortunately catch up to the batshit that is happening up here in Scotland. In the name of being progressive of course.

We have yet to have an actual declaration about the evidence of the Cass report up here and correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think Keir has said anything about it either? He's waiting until the fuss dies down then he can quietly go back to his position of prioritising men's needs over women's.

It will be a hard vote in the general election. Up here I've got a choice of Tory, SNP, Scottish Labour (same as Keir, possibly worse) and Lib Dems. All voted for the hate crime bill bar the Tories (our Tories up here are also not great).

So for the first time ever I may be spoiling my ballot. Who knows! I just don't trust any of them. I think English voters who care about this should be wary of Keir. He is being slippery and that's suspicious.

Singleandproud · 30/04/2024 08:36

I cannot believe he is such a wet blanket. I cannot believe I'm going to have to waste my fucking vote AGAIN because I can't bring myself to vote conservative. Labour need to get a better leader in and sharpish but I don't think that's going to happen somehow.

ArabellaScott · 30/04/2024 08:36

FFS! What would it take? The man's a TRA without the courage of his convictions.

OK, I'll hold fire until I check for sure. Before I get REALLY ANGRY that female body parts are something to be ashamed of and so unpalatable that naming them might put people off their breakfast.

Here's another body part for you Kier - arsehole.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 30/04/2024 08:37

Starmer was incoherent and evasive. He was eventually forced to grudgingly admit (after repeated questions) that Rosie Duffield was right in saying that only women have a cervix. But didn't have the integrity to apologise.

It just shows that until he find the words and guts to do what Wes Streeting has done - admit that he regrets saying TWAW etc - he will continue to look weak and evasive. Journalists won't stop asking him about this as his previous excruciating comments (which Susannah & Richard Madeley read out) expose his lack of critical thinking about this.

He has used this term all along to obfuscate. He says ‘safe spaces’ meaning to placate people who use the term single sex spaces but think that he is agreeing with them.

He isn’t though. Because his safe spaces include those who he then goes on to say are legally female.

It was a clever PR ploy that someone in his team came up with and Labour has been rolling out ever since. But it is a falsity.

CosplayingAGrownUp · 30/04/2024 08:38

I never thought I'd be grateful for Wes....

Scottish gov response to Cass was that it was a big report that they needed to think about. The big presentation by Jenny Minto was the opposite of a position statement, really.

Have they ever indicated a stance in any direction on this issue before?

burnoutbabe · 30/04/2024 08:40

The breakfast apologies also covered Richard saying penis.
