Kathleen Stock has tweeted
It is quite amazing what accurate, responsible reporting from BBC and pressure from Labour has done here, so easily. Forced the liars onto the back foot. Which makes it even more reprehensible that the BBC and Labour so often look away on gender for fear of pushback.

It shows quite clearly that Labour hasn't even tried to influence before.

My goodness that's quite a climbdown.

I wonder if someone's had a word with them and, if so, who?

Just what I was thinking along with what exactly do they mean by "they updated their mp contacts" and what do they expect from them 🤔

ResisterRex · 22/04/2024 22:46

"In early analyses"

Which ones? The ones by Stonewall or by others?

Because there was an "analysis" which was pure pish, wasn't there? Is that the one they used?

Either way, they didn't read it and put out a briefing on it. The thrust of that briefing seems to have been "this review should be trashed in Parliament", regardless of the consequences for children.

There must be a public inquiry into all of this.

sourdoughismyreligion · 22/04/2024 23:09

If I'm understanding the situation correctly.

Stonewall sent a briefing to a number of MPs, Dawn Butler included.

Dawn Butler repeated an untruth contained in the briefing, that the Cass report excluded over 100 studies.

Butler then threw Stonewall under the bus by revealing they were the source of the false claim.

Stonewall have now been forced to offer a not quite apology, and are pretending they couldn't understand the Cass report until it was clarified to them.

I want to see a copy of this briefing.

RethinkingLife · 22/04/2024 23:16

I want to see a copy of this briefing.

I, too, would like to see the briefing from controversial lobbying group, Stonewall.

DameMaud · 22/04/2024 23:17

Yes. That needs to be publically available!

Imnobody4 · 22/04/2024 23:20

Just seen this clip of Starmer on women's sport - it's really painful, how not to clearly committed. He's going to have to up his game.

Sorry wrong thread- it's late.

popebishop · 22/04/2024 23:24

If only there had been some way for Dawn Butler, Stonewall, Bragg etc to find out exactly what was in the Cass report that was published in full.

You can't really blame them!

Snowypeaks · 22/04/2024 23:27

Not to derail, but anyone else now really looking forward to Allison Bailey's appeal against Stonewall?
People will be paying attention.

I seriously hope that whichever court it is considers expanding the numbers it will accept as online attendees.

True believers will still cleave to Stonewall whatever they do. Witness a familiar figure's ill-timed denigration of the Cass Review on another thread, mere minutes before Dawn Butler corrected the House's record on those self-same points and identified Stonewall as the source of that (mis)information.

Who's the familiar figure?

Zebracat · 22/04/2024 23:36

Thanks for the Stonewall top 100. I see my local police force is top 50, and there’s an election for the Police and Crime commissioner.I have a question…

Looks like the Green conference will be interesting.

My motion to disaffiliate from Stonewall will be coming back to Green Party conference in Sept. I intend an amendment, too, to take account of Cass disinformation. We are spoilt for choice as to reasons to disassociate from this disreputable charity.

Well that's them fucked then (not before time). Anything other than "Cass is a blueprint for genocide" would have the loons howling, whilst admitting previous treatment (which they are to a great degree responsible for) was dire means that most will be wondering what is the point of them anymore.

Stonewall outlived its purpose when same-sex marriage was brought in. That's why they jumped on the trans bandwagon (transwagon?): to give themselves a reason to keep existing and paying their C-suite staff 💰

Sadly, neither Stonewall nor MPs are FOIable.

it was surely the other way around-taking orders and talking points from genderwang central. I have no trouble imagining Ruth Hunt sitting in an Eames chair stroking a white Persian cat on the phone to her minions.....

AutumnCrow · 23/04/2024 02:33

FlakyPoet · 22/04/2024 22:20

Yes. It’s disturbing that there are a group of MPs, who, instead of reading, digesting and forming an opinion, attend a Stonewall briefing to know what position to take.

It's a disgrace that the list of MPs isn't FoI-able. It's surely in the public interest.

This is the sort of thing that Private Eye used to be brilliant at, but even Hislop is bogged down with being kind with pronouns for the pretty privilege.

Edited to catch up with pp.

mach2 · 23/04/2024 06:35

i Read the NHS Trusts that made it into the top 100 in Stonewall's WEI

There's a mysterious asterisk at No.37. I wonder who's not feeling so proud about it now.

WarriorN · 23/04/2024 06:37

Significant turn of events?

Raised by @fromorbit on another thread (sorry I've posted it in a few!) :

Ferrets in full reverse in Scotland.

Wings Over Scotland
It appears that the leadership of the Scottish Greens have deleted ALL their tweets about the Cass Review.

Patrick Harvie, Lorna Slater, Maggie Chapman and Ross Greer's accounts have, as far as I can tell, been wiped clear of all references to Cass.

Thanks for the list of Stonewall top 100. It's a good way to start eliminating which universities I am willing to pay to educate my children.

Anything on that list is off. They want to do science based courses. I'm not paying anywhere to teach them that sex is changeable or any other Stonewall misinformation.

IBelieveInFerries · 23/04/2024 07:03

Regarding the Stonewall Top 100, I did a very quick count, and abiut 1/3 of the organisations are in receipt of public funds of some sort.

I am including universities in this and charities such as MIND which 10% of their income comes from government grants etc.

I can think of better things for taxpayers to fund.

Hoardasurass · 23/04/2024 07:05

Stonewall and politicians such as Butler are so used to using misinformation, slurs and aggression to get gender ideology everywhere that this takes takes them out neatly

Well not quite Butler still warbling about ‘anti trans’ and Stonewall still belligerent

But Dr Cass is a powerhouse. Look at how squarely she backs these ideologues down

Women of course had no power against misogynists but Dr Cass has it - amazing woman she’ll go down in history for all this
