TRAs don’t want trans people to talk to journalists about DIY HRT… I wonder why?

”I have been reliably informed Guardian journalists are snooping around asking for trans people to talk to them about DIY HRT. They are particularly looking for under 18s doing DIY. Shouldn’t need to be said but. Do. Not. Engage. Spread widely do not engage. We need this notice spread out via every grassroots support group and social circle in the country. Urgent. If they get even one to take part it becomes a national conversation. Top alert.”

For the uninitiated, DIY HRT is manufactured by small suppliers (some in their own home) and sold online, with no safety or hygiene standards, prescription, regulation or oversight. The packaging I’ve seen for one brand was purple holographic card stock printed with anime girls on it and “Keep away from parents” on the box.

Some trans people who have bought DIY hormones have complained the bottles they were sent were contaminated with what appeared to be hair.

Why on Earth would trans activists not want this to be a part of the national conversation about the standards of medical care given to trans identified children, I wonder 🤔. Truly a mystery for the ages.

Any responsible charity/activist group/human being would have been pushing for more research and more psychological support for years now. TRAs have been fighting for children's rights' to be sterilised and maimed. Now they want that to be done with home brewed medication.

At least they're not advocating for DIY surgery as has been a bedrock of relevant manifestos such as Trans Health Scotland. Authors of this trained NHS staff and were at the heart of Miller's Equality Inquiry by the Government's Women and Equalities Committee.

Entitled the Trans Health Manifesto, it reads: 'We demand an end to birth certificates and to legal gender. Gender records should be anonymised, and only ever recorded as part of equalities monitoring.
'Birth certificates are not just a violence against trans people, they are a material to the state's oppression of 'undocumented' immigrants and asylum seekers.
'We demand hormones & blockers are made available over-the-counter and by free prescription upon request.
'We need free, universal access to safe hormones & blockers at any age, the opportunity to decide our own doses, and universally accessible information on the safety & efficacy of different regimens.'
It continues by demanding an end to NHS control over transgender patient appointments, hormones and surgery.
The statement reads: 'There will be no clinics, and no authorities. We will conduct our own research, and experiment with our own bodies.
'We will heal and grow together. We will accumulate knowledge and share it freely and accessibly.
'We demand nothing less than the total abolition of the clinic, of psychiatry, and of the medical-industrial complex.'

I looked at reporting it but looks like you can't report a single post, only the person.

I wonder if establishments like the Guardian will ever realise that courting the trans activism lobby is a surefire way to lose two sets of readers in one fell swoop? Like voting for the Leopards Eating Faces Party and ending up with no face and the other side boycotting you.

I had no idea there was such a thing until I read the recent AMA thread from a transwoman.
I didn't post on the thread as I had nothing to add/ask but the part that nearly had me asking a question was about this.

The teenagers that are caught up in this awful mess will be oblivious to/nonchalant about the extra risk that they are bringing in to their bodies 😢 As if unevidenced medical intervention with official pharmaceuticals wasn't bad enough, the homemade version is likely to be even worse. I guess it's not a massive surprise to learn that there is an underground industry going on but I had assumed it was just in trading standard pharmaceutical hormones, not DIY.
