They're a bunch of crazies. They'll vote whichever way will cause the most mayhem.

I'm just off round the corner to William Hill to put a small wager on that.

PronounssheRa · 25/04/2024 14:51

If we assume Labour the tories and lib dems vote against Humza and the green party want to put the boot in, it could be Alba who hold the key vote.

Vote of No Confidence to go ahead

Labour, Lib Dem & Tory MSPs are all apparently ready to vote Humza out. It seems the vote will be next week it sounds like it will be on Tuesday or Wednesday.

The Greens with 7 votes basically get to decide to keep Humza in power or bottle it after ranting about him. Alba only has one vote not enough to tip it either way.

If they all vote no confidence, Yousaf will resign and the Scottish Parliament will have 28 days to elect another First Minister. If that fails to happen, there will be a Scottish election.

All because a bunch of numpties thought women didn't exist.

Brilliant

Love it when there’s consequences over gender ideology

IcakethereforeIam · 25/04/2024 15:19

Is it outside the realms of possibility that one of the SNPs would vote against him?

Possible. Depends how upset they are with him vs loyalty to party. You would need at 3 or 4 rebels.

Rightsraptor · 25/04/2024 15:26

First Minister's Questions at 17.00 (on Parliament channel iirc).

Should be fun.

Nothing quite like watching an implosion of power.

fromorbit · 25/04/2024 15:30

Crisis deepens

  • Greens meeting later today to discuss how they will vote on no confidence.
  • Ash Regan (Alba) says she’s writing to the FM and her support will depend on his answer to that.
  • next week’s standards committee report on Michael Matheson SNP MSP could be facing suspension and so will be unable to vote in no confidence motion on Humza Yousaf.
ArabellaScott · 25/04/2024 15:30

Murmurs are that Ash Regan could have the casting vote ...

Will Kate Forbes be voting? If so, I can imagine she'll have quite a lot to say.

WarriorNonVerbalHateCrime · 25/04/2024 15:39

Whoa.

Catching up.

It's all sounding rather crazy!

Had Chesca been suspended too?

WarriorNonVerbalHateCrime · 25/04/2024 15:41

Those apocalyptic horses yesterday were definitely symbolic....

Rainbowshit · 25/04/2024 15:45

The Scottish Greens are revolting

There were four of them...

SirChenjins · 25/04/2024 15:53

Is this really the apocalypse though? It looks bloody marvellous from where I'm sitting!

Everyone will be voting. Forbes I imagine will vote for Humza unless he does something very daft. Basically she just has to look like a decent person and fairly loyal and she will be next SNP leader sooner or later.

If the Greens vote against Humza though he is DONE. Remember The Greens used terms like "can't be trusted" of Humza and lots of denunciations. I think Harvie and Slater are vindictive enough to bring the house down:

During FMQs, Patrick Harvie asked the first minister who he expected to provide the votes for a majority following the end of the deal.
But asked outside the chamber whether his party would support the motion of no confidence, he said: “It’s obviously a decision for the entire parliamentary group, as these things always are, but the first minister has – I think tragically – caved to the right wing of his party. OI think that’s bad for Scotland, it’s bad for the government and it’ll be bad for him.”

Tories to table motion of no confidence in Humza Yousaf

Douglas Ross will table a motion of no confidence in Humza Yousaf, the Scottish Tory leader announced at FMQs.

Apocalyptic for some!

SirChenjins · 25/04/2024 16:00

@fromorbit I'm not sure Kate Forbes will vote for him - they have very different opinions on key issues, and given she was the candidate most of the public wanted then she and Ash may be eyeing up the leadership position. The sooner they can get him out the sooner a new leadership election can take place.

SaffronSpice · 25/04/2024 16:06

Plus Presiding Officer, no affiliation

officially no affiliation but she is a regional (list) Green MSP

Doesn't normally vote but has deciding vote if there's a tie.

Ash Regan (Alba) says she’s writing to the FM and her support will depend on his answer to that.

I am surprised and a disappointed she hasn’t been able to judge based on his actions over the last few years.
