I guess that Sophie has heard of so many male politicians that have been found out for sleaze that he assumed being sleazy is a requirement?

CocoapuffPuff · 22/05/2024 09:52

He's not fit for public office. He's not fit to rubber stamp parking permits, never mind represent a constituency. One might suspect that this political aspiration may be part of a humiliation fetish that we are all being forced to participate in.

I must admit, other than (as a general rule) never wishing harm on anyone, Sparkle's health isn't really my main concern. But do the Greens actually think this is a fit and proper person to represent the people in that constituency?

I can only think they recognise they've got zero chance of winning there and needed something to stick a green rosette on and, as the Hate Monster is busy with Police Scotland, they thought 'Fuck it! At least Sparkles will give everyone a laugh'.

Sparkles is doomed.

The Gordon and Buchan constituency is a new one, but the areas involved are strongly Tory, the second strongest party is the SNP. The Tory candidate Harriet Cross who seems very sensible is highly likely to win according to polls. Partially thanks to Green vs SNP rivalry for the Indy vote. The fact Sparkles is standing there is not going to make the Tory vote weaker.

This is the likely result there:

In answer to why Sparkles is a candidate.

The Scottish Greens are very democratic Sparkles and his mates probably dominate the local group which is likely to be very small considering the area, but more to the point not many people want to stand in a seat where you are going to come 6th or 5th so quite possibly Sparkles was the only choice. Note because of the structure of the Greens it is very difficult to overrule local candidate selection unlike Labour, Tories, SNP or Lib Dems.

Sparkles might get put put on a regional list in a Scottish Parliamentary election in a few years, though I think it is unlikely, he certainly won't get the prime spots or anyway near. If you notice the Scottish Greens who actually get good positions tend to be TRA allies/spicy Straights i.e She/They or He/They types .

They are just using Sparkles as a prop. If there is actual chance for power or money their need is way bigger than Sparkles.

Nasty mumsnet cares more about you then the Greens do Sparkles.

Thanks for that, @Waitwhat23
Sophie is clearly not a true Green, that plastic peg is a dead giveaway.

Indeed. Get with the programme, Sparkles.

You can get vegan, biodegradable bamboo clothes pegs from reputable suppliers such as Wild + Stone.

Not sure about vegan, biodegradable ball gags and not prepared to go looking.

Waitwhat23 · 22/05/2024 09:19

This would be a considerably more honest piece of electoral material than Sophie would like distributed.

(I've put it behind a sensitive content because shudders)

I wonder how much it costs to get that delivered as a flyer to every household in Gordon and Buchan?

If you are standing as a candidate:
You may have postage paid on either:

  • one unaddressed election communication of up to 60 grams to every postal address, or
  • one election communication of up to 60 grams addressed to each elector
You have to be standing to get that though (and pay a security in case you step down)

Reduxx now has a great article, though grim, with a summary of Sparkles background.

JFC I wish I hadn't read that. This is... Well @ArabellaScott your title of this thread sums it up entirely.

The Scottish greens and this Sophie sparkles are utterly utterly revolting people. Make it stop. Please! 😱

I would be happy to do some gardening for a leafleting campaign to get that distributed.

I wonder if you would be able to send those through the post - that's a pretty disturbing image to have drop through the letter box. May have to fundraise enough for envelopes as well.

ArabellaScott · 23/05/2024 20:11

Today Sophie Molly has tweeted/retweeted/@'d Joanna Cherry at least 22 times.

Obvious harassment. Why can't this man leave lesbians alone?

I can only add 3 images of course.

He's rather obsessed, isn't he. Kind of sad, but you'd still instinctively cross the road and keep to the brightly lit bits....

SirChenjins · 23/05/2024 20:43

Well he’s correct in that men who pretend they’re women are stronger than actual women - it’s the testosterone, you see.

Cosmosforbreakfast · 23/05/2024 20:57

I hope Joanna reports him for harassment.

I agree - he’s crossed so many lines here.

Villagetoraiseachild · 23/05/2024 22:11

I feel a second thread coming on.

INeedAPensieve · 23/05/2024 22:16

There needs to be a second thread. That shows just how revolting the Scottish Greens are that more and more shit is coming out about them that we are almost at 1000 comments. Wings over Scotland is being bothered by Sparkles too I see. He's trying to ignore.

CocoapuffPuff · 23/05/2024 22:31

I’m told it’s only the female midges that take a blood meal to give them energy for reproduction 😉. But only a few midge species bite, such as culicoides impunctatus.

So male midges cause nothing worse than high-pitched whining?

If only human males were so benign.
