Does anyone actually know WHY the Greens have sucked on the Gender ideology like they have?

I'd be guessing they're heavily funded by a pharmaceutical company but that doesn't seem to fit the hessian weave save the planet "origins" of truly green Green political movement.

Messing up kids endocrine systems and surgically removing healthy organs seems so far removed from saving the planet.

Why?

Entryism.

Denton's playbook.

People who back the "progressive" cause du jour without thinking of its origins and consequences.

The Greens, as a very small and ... how do I put it ... optimistic party, were vulnerable to being overtaken by ideologues looking for routes into power.

Their highly democratic structures have not taken into account that some people are manipulative, dishonest, and intent on gaining power.

@fromorbit I'm not sure Kate Forbes will vote for him - they have very different opinions on key issues, and given she was the candidate most of the public wanted then she and Ash may be eyeing up the leadership position. The sooner they can get him out the sooner a new leadership election can take place.

Edited

Ash can’t take the leadership position for a party she is no longer a member of.

Kate (and possible other SNP) won’t for no confidence. The question is how many of them will have urgent appointments/emergencies/unavoidable situations that keep them from Holyrood? Like John Major’s wisdom teeth or Humza’s unavoidable meeting at the Consulate of Pakistan.

Of course - I'd forgotten she'd sensibly jumped ship!

I'd love to see Kate going for no confidence and forcing a leadership contest, but yes, there will probably be a fair few who have lots of very important things to see to that day.

Their highly democratic structures have not taken into account that some people are manipulative, dishonest, and intent on gaining power.

Plus the way TRAs have pushed the social justice agenda.

All it has taken is for some young individuals who have the time to spend working their way into various positions and then inject various Edi clauses into policy that makes it really hard to debate, challenge etc.

Thanks, both.

So they're self identifying as Greens. Theyre just Trans Greens, if you like. In spaces that they don't belong in. Gosh, it's starting to make a teeny bit of sense

Karensalright · 25/04/2024 16:42

Yes @WarriorNonVerbalHateCrime in a nutshell. They got in everywhere and the gullible, and the lazy just got sucked in.

WarriorNonVerbalHateCrime · 25/04/2024 16:48

It's also interesting that a few key greens have left other parties to join the greens and appear to have jumped on the tra bandwagon as it was trendy and helped to get them noticed and voted in.

Waitwhat23 · 25/04/2024 16:52

I have had a tough day at work. It has been long and frustrating.

But this, this has made my day. Greens gone, SNP imploding in a spectacular way. I'll be pouring myself a large drink tonight.

And yes, it will be a gin before the tedious humour vacuum jumps on to comment.

mrshoho · 25/04/2024 17:07

All eyes on Ash Regan now. Will she won't she back Yousaf?

mrshoho · 25/04/2024 17:08

This is turning out to be a very good day! Happy Thursday 25th!

Karensalright · 25/04/2024 17:09

My birthday today as well yes, best prezzie ever!!!!!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 25/04/2024 17:11

This is delicious. Future of HY 'precarious', Evan Davis has just said on PM. Good.

Solgrass · 25/04/2024 17:18

Greens have said they are not voting for Humza Yousaf!

Solgrass · 25/04/2024 17:18

BBC news:

BREAKING
The Scottish Greens will vote against Humza Yousaf in a vote of no confidence in him as First Minister, the party's co-leader Lorna Slater has said.
Speaking to the PA news agency, Slater said her party had "no confidence in a progressive government doing the right thing" in Scotland and would back the Tory motion to unseat Yousaf.

Would Fergus Ewing vote against Humza?!

Can we helpfully suggest a list of demands?!

Ash Regan (Alba) says she’s writing to the FM and her support will depend on his answer to that.

I am surprised and a disappointed she hasn’t been able to judge based on his actions over the last few years.

If I was in Ash Reagan’s position, I’d see what I could get Humza to commit to. I’m sure she knows what she thinks of him, but she suddenly has a lot of political influence to play with.

Nope, put Humza out of our misery.

Solgrass · 25/04/2024 17:28

Ash would be silly to vote for him. He’s a lame duck and she would be blamed for keeping him in power. She would be better working with Forbes.

fromorbit · 25/04/2024 17:33

Ash has got a list of demands.

A bill on a referendum being key.

“My priorities are completely unchanged and that is: independence, women’s rights, child protection, protection of our key industries.”

Ash Regan to set out demands for supporting Humza Yousaf
https://www.thenational.scot/news/24278902.ash-regan-sets-demand-supporting-humza-yousaf/

I imagine one demand will be pro-women/kids stuff - stuff like full implementation of Cass report, changes to the conversion therapy bill, maybe changes to hate crime act plus more.

Will Humza go for that? We shall see

ASH Regan will set out a list of demands to Humza Yousaf in exchange for her support – including him backing her independence bill.

Harvie is really bitter about this.
He and Lorna gave a statment. In that they were asked about cooperating with the SNP on an ad hoc basis. Lorna started to give a political answer, Harvie piped up over her to ask the reporter "You really think the current goverment will still be in place by the next budget?" He couldn't hide his bitterness and venom, he's really pissed off.

Link to video below, couldn't find a better link sorry.
The video is towards the bottom of the story.
The question from the reporter that provokes this venom starts at 5.44
