Don't forget there are men who like dressing up as dogs who would doubtless insist on being included in the canine government.

The sniffer dogs will soon sort them out.

That's where my friend, the Anatolian Shepherd, comes in.
Check out his psi score for jaw strength.

Fiercely loyal to family, gentle with humans but takes his role as guard dog very, very, verrrry seriously.

He's bred to protect his flock and family from wolves.

My friends have one and whilst he's a total softie with us all, I would not piss him off.

Loving all this dog chat! I love dogs although (eyes dart shiftily from side to side) I have a wee cat; and have always had cats. She could identify as a dog to get into this parliament. She already identifies as a glorious silky black puma but I've not had the heart to tell her the truth yet...

A cat would fulfill the same role as the Scottish Greens - do absolutely none of the graft, but demand that everything is run to suit its needs.

WarriorN · 01/05/2024 11:49

As per its namesake, the Shetland sheepdog gets forgotten about....

Villagetoraiseachild · 01/05/2024 14:28

For fairness, I propose inclusion of the following, felis silvestris, Scottish Wildcat. Head of Strategy.

The Scottish Greens are revolting
INeedAPensieve · 01/05/2024 14:32

@MissLucyEyelesbarrow ha yes true, I'd agree with that if I was talking about my previous cat; she was a very entitled princess cat. I still miss her despite her cheeky demands!

My current cat is the opposite; she is very sweet and affectionate and eager to please. Gets upset if you don't give her constant attention. Have never seen her scratch, hiss or even nip.

Anyway back to the Scottish Greens, they are a shower of numpties aren't they? I keep expecting another bad news story about them - like making it illegal in Scotland to say the world is round, since that's their level of science denying batshittery.

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?!

Rainbowshit · 01/05/2024 15:49

Holyrood voted that the have confidence in the Scottish government by 70 to 58. Greens voted with the SNP.

BezMills · 01/05/2024 15:55

So the greens are effectively giving the SNP a Confidence and Supply agreement for free. Generous

I doubt that they're doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. I expect its more likely the Greens are spying a way back into govt by sucking up to the SNP.

Chersfrozenface · 01/05/2024 16:12

The thought of the Scottish Greens, having been dumped, doing the pick-me dance is mildly amusing

maltravers · 01/05/2024 17:20

I briefly had Newsnight on
the night Hunza resigned. The SNP had someone on with Harvie sat next to him like a “minder” to ensure he was on message. Plus the Humza comment about how sorry he was to upset the greens. It’s like an abusive relationship and I don’t think the SNP victim has escaped. There is clearly some new “understanding” with the Greens. That buys the SNP time, but there will be a heavy price at the ballot box in due course IMHO.

Looks like a deal maybe possible if they don't go ahead with the contest. Something on the lines of Forbes gets a senior position while Swinny gets First Minister.

Would be a good outcome for SNP. Also likely Forbes will extract concessions in terms of more pro women stuff. Plus it lines her up to take over when Swinny steps down probably after SNP loses an elction.

However it will make the Greens very unhappy. They will have voted to make Forbes important. Nothing new though they were happy with Forbes as a senu=ior minister when they entered the alliance.

Kate Forbes and John Swinney

Kate Forbes and John Swinney hold talks about SNP leadership

The two former SNP ministers are considering bids to succeed Humza Yousaf as first minister.

Snowypeaks · 01/05/2024 18:50

I'm pretty ignorant about Scottish politics, but iirc, Kate Forbes was the target of some unsavoury and unfair smearing when she ran for the SNP leadership, wasn't she? It would be good for her to come out of this in a position of power.

Waitwhat23 · 01/05/2024 19:08

There's several Scottish male journalists vying for who can be most vitriolic towards Forbes. The biggest thing which they focus on is her faith (which I believe is the Free Church of Scotland).

Now, I'm not religious. But have no issue with elected representatives holding a personal faith. But the male journalists seem to have double standards between Forbes and Yousaf which can only really be explained by her being one or more of - female, a 'wee free' or from the Highlands.

And the biggest double standard is the claim that Forbes will allow her personal faith to affect her politics. Today, she voted for the buffer zones around medical sites which provide abortion services. Yousaf did not vote. His choice. But they choose not to mention that.

Snowypeaks · 01/05/2024 19:11

Yes, thank you, Waitwhat23 - that's what I was thinking of. So I hope KF comes up smiling.

Waitwhat23 · 01/05/2024 19:16

There's also been lots of 'well, how did she vote for same sex marriage in Scotland????!!!'

The vote was in 2014. Forbes didn't become an MSP until 2016. She's never made any kind of indication that she intends to try to change the current legislation.

I don't agree with her views on same sex marriage. But the smearing directed towards her in regards that is just nonsensical.

Morwenscapacioussleeves · 01/05/2024 19:16

Absolutely Wait they never seemed to care that Ian Blackford was/is wee free either 🤔
