Women's rights general conversations - Thread 8

Continuation of Thread 7.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions in the supermarket, grr"- that sort of thing).

Same reason they are all trotting out the same specious arguments about pronouns.

duc748 · 30/07/2024 11:16

That Guardian piece reminded me a bit of Morecambe and Wise: "Please come and see this play wot I wrote".

DeanElderberry · 30/07/2024 11:17

You're surely not suggesting that people whose whole life mission is to enforce conformist behavior don't think for themselves?

SinnerBoy · 30/07/2024 15:41

On an age note, RMW used "The Equalities Act" repeatedly and as a barrister, versed in law, he really should have known the proper name of the Act.

Boiledbeetle · 31/07/2024 14:17

I'm washing my hair unfortunately

duc748 · 31/07/2024 14:18

I don't follow boxing at all, but I certainly remember the name Frank Maloney. But I had no idea about Kellie; that completely passed me by.

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 31/07/2024 14:21

There were loads of Kellie Maloney autobiographies in Poundland a few years back 😁

duc748 · 31/07/2024 15:07

Sic transit Gloria.

Sic transit Gloria.

Gloria was sick in a Transit van?

lcakethereforeIam · 31/07/2024 15:43

Gloria has a cool tricked-out transit.

Snowypeaks · 31/07/2024 15:56

😁😁

Boiledbeetle · 31/07/2024 16:11

Personally I feel the lemon was a step to far!

Seriously though what is wrong with some men???

Doctors pull 26-inch EEL out of a man's BUTT after he forced it in mol.im/a/13693493 via dailym.ai/android

lcakethereforeIam · 31/07/2024 16:41

Looks like a lime to me. He totally misunderstood how to make tequ-eel-la. The poor fish.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 31/07/2024 16:42

I hope it was dead. And if it wasn't I hope it bit him. A lot.

Boiledbeetle · 31/07/2024 16:51

It did bite him! A lot!

And I thought it looked like a lime!

lcakethereforeIam · 31/07/2024 16:55

You'd think a Doctor would know better...or do I mean greengrocer?

Apparently the poor creature was still alive when it was removed.

DeanElderberry · 31/07/2024 17:11

I hope the poor eel is now getting counselling.

Snowypeaks · 31/07/2024 17:13

And deodorising.

Kucinghitam · 31/07/2024 17:18

Oh bloody hell 🤮 Why are men so gross?

DeanElderberry · 31/07/2024 17:21

Are there still weird little societies that give animals medals for performing brave deeds? Eely seems to have very nearly gnawed its way out, and surely deserves recognition for that. Mr Nasty will never be the same again, which is just as well. I hope his medical insurance refuses to pay up and leaves him bankrupt.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 31/07/2024 17:23

NoBinturongsHereMate · 31/07/2024 16:42

I hope it was dead. And if it wasn't I hope it bit him. A lot.

The article says it bit him enough that he'll need a colostomy bag for the rest of his life.

Why are men so gross?

I don't think we'll ever stop asking that!

lcakethereforeIam · 31/07/2024 17:24

The Dickens medal?

MouseMinge · 31/07/2024 17:43

I fear eels. A lot. I sort of hate them because they're just wrong. I'm afraid I can't feel sorry for the eel in this story because of the former and the fact that my anus is currently almost non existent as it contemplates someone trying to put any eel but especially one of that size up my bottom.

The chap deserves all the pain and everything else coming to him for being both cruel and an absolute idiot.
